I haven't been here in so long, I missed it! I had some friends come by so I recommended this as they give you huge portions to share. We ordered the A set, which is the basic set of just the rice cakes, boiled eggs and veggies. WARNING: When it's time to choose the spice levels, CHOOSE MILD. I nearly forgot how strong their spice levels are, but luckily I remembered in time and we switched to mild. Even at mild, it sent my friend to the bathroom and we didn't see them for 10 minutes. (Last visit we got medium and my other friend had the same incident). I'd also like to point out that I usually have a pretty good spice tolerance, but even I needed a lot of drinks for this. That being said, it's VERY enjoyable. It's not a warning to stay away, just a warning that this place MAY humble you lol. Our server was very nice and helped explain the different things on the menu (Yupdduk vs Yup Oh) since they had the same descriptions. Also helped us with water refills when they realized we were dying. It's also pretty quiet in here so it's a great place to share food and chat with friends. I really liked the food here, but the spice scale seriously threw me off. I already knew Yup Dduk had a reputation for being extremely spicy, so I specifically ordered the Rosé Yup Dduk at Extra Mild. I wasn't expecting it to be completely non-spicy. I figured Extra Mild would still have a little kick, just something I could actually handle. It was still REALLY spicy. I'll admit I don't have a high spice tolerance, but my fiancée does. She loves spicy food and is usually the reason I end up trying spicy things in the first place. Even she thought this was way too spicy for something called Extra Mild. We honestly weren't sure we were going to finish it. That's what made this kind of frustrating because the food itself was really good. I loved the flavor and actually wanted to keep eating it, but the heat made it difficult to enjoy as much as I wanted to. Maybe that's just how their scale works and Extra Mild really means "the least spicy version of an extremely spicy dish." If that's the case, I definitely think first-time customers should know that going in. I'd still recommend the food if you have a serious spice tolerance, but if you're ordering Extra Mild because you're expecting something normally considered mild, just be prepared. If you have a high tolerance for spiciness food, this is the perfect spot for Korean food. I typically can handle spicy korean food but man, I was constantly grabbing my water to try to tone down the spiciness but it was still quite intense that I couldn't enjoy my food. I asked the server for future reference if I can change the spicy level and he said no we cant. So it was quite disappointing for me because I won't be able to come back again. Other than the spiciness issue, the food overall was authentic and fresh. The portions for the Rose Yup Dduk is good to share for 3-4 people. You can also order a single portion but it's more worth to order a bigger bowl to share. The rice cake was tender and had a lot of flavor. The soup bse was also more creamy but it was just to spicy. I love how you can add cheese too which I love. So the more cheese, the merrier. I would recommend the combo with either the Ramen Udon noodles with either the Tuna or Ham Kimbap. The tuna they use is fresh and not salty. So it's less salty compared to the Ham. I tried both and thought the Udon and Ham Kimbap combo was better. Been here a few times, we especially like their Yup O - lots of fishcake it is perfect (even for a spice wuss like me) - though I don't each much of it because eventually, I am a spice wuss (haha). With the combo it comes with extras like boiled eggs, which help offset the heat. My favorite dish here is the fish cake soup, it comes plentiful with different kinds of fishcake and the broth is one of my favorite to drink, I only wish there was more broth (pretty pretty please). I was so hungry with others that we practically ordered a lot of food, but the food was GOOD! It's in a plaza that can be fairly packed so beware finding parking with a big group of people. Service was fast as there wasn't a lot of people upon arrival but then right when dinner came around, there was more people. I really want to give this better review because it's been on my list forever, but had a rather disappointing experience here. I came here about an hour to closing, but there were still some customers and plenty of employees around. I waffled between regular Yup Dduk or the rose yup dduk and opted for the original. I also got fried seaweed noodles also. I decided on the mild since I thought it would be ok with the spice. Everything was ordered through an iPad, which I had no issues with. The fried item came out first. I was hoping that yup dduk would come out fairly quickly after so I can dip it in with the sauce, but no luck so I ended up eating pretty dry seaweed roll, which would have been better with a sauce. A long time later the yup dduk came out. Immediately I noticed how watery the dish was. My guess is that since I came a little close to closing (although it was still an hour left and plenty of customers came in after me), they didn't reduce the sauce long enough. This might have been my mistake, but for mild it was so spicy (and I can handle spice normally). There was not enough cheese, so just spicy overall. I ended up ordering tuna mayo rice to counter the spiciness. Definitely would suggest ordering extra mild the first time. The other thing is I never got an heads up from the employees. Even the tuna rice, I saw later on Yelp that you're supposed to make it into rice balls, I got no instructions for it (or gloves which I think you're supposed to get). I left pretty disappointed and still slightly hungry because i definitely couldn't finish the meal. I thought I had done a review for this place but it must have gotten missed. Yupdduck Diamond Bar is located behind Hanmi Bank and Market World in Diamond Bar/Walnut. Parking can get little busy especially due to more electric charging station being added. Yupdduck is known for their tteokbokki and you customized it however way you want to spice level or sweetness to adding more toppings on top. You can also pick from more fish cake or more rice cake option as well. For the amount of food they give you the price is reasonable. Inside is fairly small but food tastes really good. This time I went little crazy and ordered lot of different food to try because I was with big group of friends. We had to get the OG regular tteokbokki and we also got their jjajang tteokbokki. Other side dishes we got were, whole grilled squid, omurice (omelette rice) is how they call it, and fried chicken, seaweed rice balls, fish cake soup, two kinds of kimbap (tuna and ham) and fried goodies (tempura, mandu and seaweed roll (gimmari). Service was top notch. They kept coming to see how we were doing and refilled our waters and I had ordered Fanta in a bottle and Coke bottle they had were from Mexico. Definitely coming back to this location to try to rose tteokbokki and other korean comfort food. They are definitely super busy with take outs. I love coming here for my tteokbokki cravings! Portions are huge (enough for 3-4 people), food comes out decently fast, and taste is a 10/10! I always get their tteokbokki with more tteok, Chinese glass noodles, and cheese. They usually don't give alot of cheese, but everything else is a good amount. There's usually no wait to little wait every time, I've never had to make a reservation. We almost always get seated within a few minutes. But after tipping cash and leaving I realized I paid 20$ in tip on a $92 meal as suggested, but 20% of $92 is not $20. (Total came to $100 after tax) Checked the receipt and realized that the tip is the after tax price. Kinda feel scammy and dishonest as this isn't common in my experiences in restaurants in both NYC and Cali. The norm is to tax pre-tax as there is no "service or goods" transaction in tax, why are we tipping on tax? But the rest of the experience was good. They explained what's the difference between the Yupdduk and Yupddoh is. Yupdduk - more rice cakes. Yuppoh - more fish cake. They both contain rice cakes, fish cake, cheese, and I believe sausage but I asked for no sausage. Both of which could feed 2-3 people, it's a pretty big portion They also had to put out a disclaimer for the spiciest level - challenge! I eat a lot of spicy foods so to me it was a nice flavor (4/10 spiciness) but for my boyfriend it was an insane 10/10. So proceed with caution if you are sensitive to spicy. Yum!!! Yupdduk was always something I wanted to try, and finally got around to it. My table got the rose yupdduk, add chinese glass noodle, mozzarella cheese, BMJ (not sure what the translation is, but its essentially a extra long extra large rice cake), with mild spice. The spice level was pretty high for everyone at my table, but tolerable and still yummy. Service was alright (we did walk in right at opening, so I don't really blame them) they didn't really check in with us unless we flagged them down, or ordered something. Nonetheless, it's still super delicious and they have a bunch of other non-spicy food items you can choose from. My favorite would have to be the pork katsu and ham kimbap.
