Pomegranate Soju and Mojito Flavor Soju
    Vivian T.

Hanshin Pocha is that one restaurant for the late night eats and drinks if you choose to do so. This is not the first Hanshin Pocha I've been to, but this location is pretty spacious and can easily accommodate small groups. We saw a big group of 20-ish that tried to combine their tables, but since they were circular, they wouldn't connect very well. I tried their Spam Kimchi Pancake, Pomegranate Soju cocktail, and chicken wings, in a mild buffalo sauce. I liked the pancake, and it was just the right amount of sourness from the kimchi. It tasted great with the dipping sauce. The chicken wings were dry and small. The promo for it looked better than in person, so if we were to re-order I'd choose a Korean fried chicken. The service is attentive, and the place is great for all types of occasions. In the corner of the restaurant was also a photobooth which I didn't get to check out but might be easy to miss. I'd consider coming back with a bigger group since portion sizes are quite big!

"Pocha" is short for "pojangmacha", which means "cover wagon", referencing the tarp-covered food stalls of the past that provided affordable food and drinks to workers. The restaurant originated in 1998 in South Korea as the first large-scale indoor Pocha, designed to combine the nostalgic atmosphere of street carts with cleaner, more hygienic environment. The chain is associated with famous South Korean celebrity chef Paik Jong-won, known for his appearance on Netflix's Culinarily Class War. This spot is a vibrant destination for late night Korean comfort food and social gatherings. The interior features a hip, trendy, and contemporary atmosphere with k-pop music and modern decor. It's a lively, sometimes loud, environment popular with younger crowds and groups. Service is quick, cheerful, and accommodating. Popular dishes include the Spicy Chicken Feet (Dakbal), Pork Mozzarella Cheese Fondue, DIY Rice Balls, and Korean Fried Chicken. We like their Tteokbokki, Spam Kimchi Pancake and Kimchi Fried Rice. Everything we've tried was savory and flavorful. Free parking in a shared plaza lot with somewhat tight, limited parking.

We stopped by Rowland Heights on our way home from LAX and stumbled upon Hanshin Pocha off of Gale and Nogales, just north of the 60 freeway. There are plenty of eats in the area and we thought this would satisfy our hunger for something hot and satiable - and open late night! After perusing their menu, I was drawn to the steamed egg and, likewise, the rest of our party wanted the same thing. We were only a party of 5 (4 adults + 1 child) so we thought we would order 2 of the steamed eggs and a couple other items. When we placed our order, the server questioned us why we ordered 3 and asked, "Are you sure?" We said, "Yes." After bringing out all our orders, we understood why the server asked his question; the steamed egg dish was a huge portion!!! Whoa! It was really good especially since it was cold outside. We also ordered other items to share like their chicken wings, calamari, and fries with chicken for the child in our party. Parking can be tricky even in the late hours. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the vibe here. It's casual, a little loud, but we were all comfortable and enjoyed the ambiance.

    Chicken feet
    Young Kyung K.

Missed this vibe, just having casual drinks with friends with Korean bar food so I took my parents instead. I only started eating chicken feet few years ago, I was a little skeptical at first but fell in love with them when I discovered the spicy chicken feet! I used to LOVE the ones at DAN SUNG SA in ktown but those were hard to eat because they were grilled and the meat was extremely hard to get from it. Hanshin's spicy chicken feet with soup is great! They also give you or now you need to order the side of rice balls but they do give you bean sprout soup to help ease the spiciness. We also got the gizzard and the whole squid and both were great! It was good to see that my parents enjoyed all 3 items hehe Service was a bit slow but they did look very understaffed. They were friendly though!

Spicy Pork n Cheese with DIY Rice Balls

Always a good time drinkin here with my homie. They have a sick special where a soju + beer combo will getchu another beer! We ordered the Spicy Pork n Cheese with DIY Rice Balls which was not only decadent and delicious, but it will also easily fill you up. Service was solid. Waitress met our needs quickly and checked in just the right amount of times to let us yap away. Our environment looks like any bar restaurant youd find in Korea and I particularly like the barrel seats they have it's sick haha. Maybe a lil more dim or neon lighting instead of overhead would make it perfect. Cant wait to come back for the next drink

    Beef belly Tteokbokki
    Cristine G.

Was craving Korean fried chicken and Tteokbokki so we decided to check this place out. We ordered their Beef belly tokbokki - spice level was just right, the beef belly gave it a deeper flavor although the meat could be a little bit more tender. 4 stars Chili and garlic chicken - fried whole chicken pieces doused in sweet chili and garlic sauce. Flavor is good, I am missing the crunch from the fried chicken. 3.5 stars Boneless fried chicken and fries - fries were hot and crispy, the chicken was not. This would be a great choice for those who enjoy mild tasting food. 3 stars Pork and chive pancake - the pork pieces were seasoned well and tasted great with the chives. My personal preference would be for the pancake to be a little crispier. 4 stars It's a casual dining place with many tables and chairs good for small and big groups alike. Service was prompt and attentive, even though our server was working the dining area and cashier station by himself. Parking can be an issue because of the many establishments in the plaza. Overall 3.5 stars rounded off to 4 for good service.

I went to hanshin pocha quite a while ago. As with going to any shop or restaurant in this complex, the parking is a nightmare but if you go at the right times you shouldn't have too difficult of a time. We ordered so much food for 4 people, but my favorite was the gyeran mari / rolled egg! It was huge!! And it was so good. We also got fried rice, meat pancake, squid, and fried chicken. I thought the rest of the food was good too, but not amazing. I could go back for it if I'm in the mood for this kind of food.

Located off Gale Ave in Rowland Heights. Parking is shared with the other businesses in the plaza. Parking is a bit tight and not easily to maneuver around. The place is not big but it is opened pretty late. Some of us came here to hang out, catch up and drink after dinner at Tokyo Lobby since they closed at 9:30pm. They also had some food selections as well. The service was good and the staff were good. Overall a good experience here and some good Soju and beer. I only had the soju but my frat bros pounded down the beers and soju lol.

Korean street food is absolutely amazing! Service is excellent! Ambiance is superb! Parking is a pain though! If you come with a party of 8 or more, get ready to pay about $240.00 total, plus tips.

    Kimchi fried rice

Visited on a Saturday and it surprisingly wasn't very busy. The server was welcoming and friendly. They played K-pop music and had a projector showing the mv. They also have plenty of large tables for bigger groups. The parking lot can get crowded at times. We ordered three dishes, and it took about 30 minutes before everything arrived at the table. The food was your basic Korean dishes.

    Sarah Y.

We got the DIY rice ball, grilled whole squid, and the chicken with grilled onion. The rice ball and grilled squid was good and tasted as expected. I think we interpreted the menu picture wrong for the chicken as we were expecting it to be crispier with grilled onion but it was more of a grilled/stir fry chicken dish. I am not sure if it was due to the method of cooking, but the chicken dish was a bit more dry than we had preferred. Overall, the food was decent and service was not bad.

Hanshin Pocha having a location in Rowland means no need to drive all the way to K-Town anymore when I want korean bar/drinking food! I've been to the original location many times so I'm glad to see they expanded. For me the MUST order is the spicy squid and the cheese hot plates! The Rice was also fun to mix and tasted ok. Fried chicken is only alright tbh as the meat was a little dry but it is a good bite that goes well with alcohol! I love how their mugs are all pre-chilled as well. Good late night spot.

Potato was soft and marinated well with the bulgogi, ham, and corn. But sweet potato crust just elevates things. Sweet and savory, perfect. The wings were very big--not like the puny ones you get at some of these other wing-specific spots. They were also battered and not simply dry fried which made them more crispy and enjoyable. I ordered the traditional salt & pepper, buffalo and lemon pepper flavors. My kids and I were surprised by how much we like the simple salt & pepper flavor--really well-executed and emphasized the quality of the chicken they used. My wife is a hot wings lover so she really liked the buffalo and also commented how the batter coating on the chicken made it way tastier/crispier. The lemon pepper flavor was also good, I just wished they went a little extra with the lemon pepper powder on top of the wet coating. I think this would've made the flavor over the top. And regardless of the flavor, the interior meat was juicy and well seasoned. The fries were the large crinkle cut variety--which I prefer. I like me a meaty potato-y French fry and these definitely fit the bill and paired well with the chicken. The loaded fries were also a surprise. It was covered in al pastor, jalapeños, cheese, and radish slices--my daughter and I really enjoyed it and the portion was huge. My son doesn't like wings so I got him the burger. A little different than your typical California style burger but he was pleased. To be honest, we were so full that we didn't even touch the kimchi fried rice until the next day--nevertheless very solid and well garnished with scallions and gim (nori). NGL we added some shredded cheese and fried eggs just bc that's what the cool kids are doing these days. All said, we really enjoyed our meal. We're a big family so it's often hard to please everyone, but this time there wasn't one unsatisfied customer and we'd all agreed that we will be ordering (or dining in) again.

And then after seeing some really good reviews on Yelp, I decided to check this place out by calling in a 30-piece order (with Buffalo and Garlic soy sauce flavored) for takeout (weekday around dinner time). I was able to place the order fairly quickly, and was told the order should be ready in about 20-30min. Once I arrived at the restaurant, the person working at behind the counter was very friendly. I was told to wait for a few minutes as my order was about to be ready for pick up. Wings wise, these are some big wings! Both the Buffalo and the Garlic soy sauce flavored wings were perfectly seasoned, and yet not overly wet (eg. Heavily dripped with sauces). Definitely some pretty good wings in my opinion as someone who had eaten plenty of wings from many establishments. For sure a great value considering the price and the quality of the wings. From what I spent on this order, I will most likely only get half the order size at other wing places, Korean or otherwise. Will definitely order again to try other flavors. There are plenty of parking nearby the establishment as it is located in a large strip mall between Nogales and Colima. The establishment itself has plenty of seating area inside. Worth checking it out if you are craving for Korean chicken wings.
