My last review from 2 years ago still stands as is, I'm simply here to check in and report back that, it is in fact still just as good if not better? How better you ask? The salt and pepper squid was DELECTABLE on this visit. The second it enters your mouth, it makes you smile. Our entire party could not stop talking about how buttery, rich, and perfect it was!! Now in full transparency, their fried rice and black bean noodles fell a little short for me this visit. They were still good but you'll find better at other nearby Korean Chinese restaurants in Rowland such a New Garden. Saw this place on my searches and have been wanting to try it cuz was looking for a close Chinese Korean restaurant. Came on a sat around noon during peak lunch time. The parking lot is pretty small with spaces behind the building as well. We got lucky cuz got seated right away but people behind us had to wait. We ordered jja jiang myun (black bean noodles), kung pao chicken, and the kang poong shrimp (spicy garlic shrimp?). The shrimp was so crispy and the sauce was so good. It's hard to find a place where this dish is good so I was really happy. The noodles were also really good. Big portion so my bf and I shared. The kung pao chicken was good but it needed more flavor. I like my food with strong bold flavors and this dish lacked that. I would love to come back and try some of the other dishes like the sweet n sour pork. At the end they gave us the sugared sweet potatoes which was a treat. Haven't had that in a long time so brought back childhood memories. read more

The food here is delicious! The sweet and sour shrimp had a light fluffy batter with sauce on the side, and the spicy seafood noodle soup had plenty of veggies and seafood. Worth every mile of the drive! Yong Moon Lu has officially become our go-to spot for Korean Chinese food. We ordered quite a bit and everything hit -- nothing disappointed. Loved that the sauces for the sweet and sour pork and shrimp came on the side, which is exactly how it should be. The black bean noodles were delicious, just keep in mind the noodles are thicker and chewier than what you might be used to -- personally, we loved the texture. But it was SO good, and the variety we got to try was delightful. A couple of friends recommended Korean-Chinese food for lunch, and this place was a great choice! We arrived around 12:30 PM on a Wednesday and were able to grab parking spots right in front, though I can imagine parking being difficult during peak lunch or dinner hours. It felt like a cozy, classic restaurant. It was getting busy when we walked in and filled up soon after we were seated. Service was efficient that we were able to order and get our food pretty quickly. They offer weekday lunch specials from 11:30 AM to 3 PM, which was a great deal to let us try everything. We split two combo meals among the group: sweet and sour pork with jajangmyeon, and fried shrimp with jjampong, plus an order of shrimp toast to start. - The shrimp toast reminded me of something you would get at dim sum. It was nicely crispy and dense. I highly recommend dipping it in the mustard to help cut through the oiliness. - Both combo meals were generous and satisfying. The jajangmyeon was one of the best I've had. There was no lingering aftertaste from the sauce, a decent portion size for lunch, and the noodles had the perfect texture without being overly chewy. The sweet and sour pork was thinly sliced with a nice crispy batter. It was slightly dry, but the sweet sauce balanced it out well and added flavor. - The jjampong was loaded with fresh seafood. The broth had a mild flavor base with a pleasant kick of spice that was not too overwhelming. The fried shrimp were jumbo, crispy, and paired perfectly with the tangy sauce. K-Town LA has a dearth of good Korean-Chinese fusion restaurants. After the original Yong Gung (Dragon Restaurant on 966 S. Vermont Ave.) closed, I've been searching. Their pal-bo-chae mixed seafood dish was A+, sweet and spicy friend chicken (gang-bong-gi) was the best I ever had, and jia-jiang-mian (black bean noodles) were among the best. This place was packed, which confirms this is the place to be if you want such cuisine. Finally, unlike many Korean-Chinese restaurants that have a fairly limited menu, this restaurant has an extensive menu that has familiar Americanized Chinese restaurant favorites (e.g., Kung Pao chicken) and full Chinese fare. read more

I have had this spot bookmarked for months but haven't had a chance to try it out until recently! I've definitely been missing out over the years!! My boyfriend and I decided to share: fried shrimp toast, mongolian beef, and jjajangmyeon. We were blown away by how flavorful everything tasted! The star of the show for both of us was definitely the fried shrimp toast.. crunchy, delicious, and paired well with the sauces (sweet and sour+ spicy mustard). We definitely felt like the portions were very generous and were not able to finish it all. Mongolian beef was seasoned well, slightly sweet (to me) which was surprising but in a good way. Bonus points that rice was included with the entree at no additional cost. Jjajangmyeon hit the spot for me.. the noodles were bouncy and the sauce was savory. As a server, I was truly impressed by the service. The smallest details left an impressionable good dining experience as a first time customer. The workers were friendly and maintained their smiles while engaging with everyone. Our server particular knew the appropriate amount to check up, without being bothersome and not once did we have to ask for additional items; multiple servers just knew what we would need and just dropped everything off to us (extra bowls to share, scissors, napkins). What I appreciate the most was after receiving the check and paying, one of the servers helped pack our food for to go.. the smallest gesture was much appreciated. Atlanta has the best Chinese-Korean in the world, no contest. But if you live elsewhere in the Korean diaspora or in Korea itself, you might think you have best. In southern California, Yong Moon Lu is the best example of what you can find (or used to) in Atlanta. The hwagyos who run this place still speak Mandarin and Korean. They have all the classics and are confident because they know how good they are. These are timeless Chinese-Korean dishes with no modern twists because they understand that good is good forever. The quality of the fried offerings bring me back to my childhood and the swiftness of the service is something you just can't find nowadays. Seriously, start a timer after you order. This place is packed for a reason. I highly respect places that nail a dish or cuisine and just refuse to change. May Yong Moon Lu be around for 100 years. You have to eat the food freshly hot at the restaurant. I've gotten takeout from here multiple times, which was good but eating it at the restaurant is next level! Every time I come here, I am reminded and impressed with how good the food is. Make sure to come with a big party because then you can try multiple different dishes! On our most recent visit, my husband ordered orange chicken and I have to admit I was judging him for this choice. Boy was I wrong because this was one of the best orange chicken dishes I've ever had. It came out piping hot and the way it was glazed/crisped up reminded me of General Tso's chicken with an orange chicken flavor. Our whole party thoroughly and unexpectedly liked this dish. 5/5 We had two other fried dishes and both were freaking good. They definitely have the balance of breading to meat portions down. The tangsuyook and the kkanpung shrimp did not disappoint. Both 5/5 We of course ordered jjajangmyeon and jjamppong since we can't go to a Korean Chinese place without ordering these staple dishes. Both were delicious. The jjamppong had the perfect amount of noodles, vegetables, and seafood! Another favorite dish here is yangjangpi. This has a nice light freshness compared to the other dishes we normally get that are on the heavier end. The portions are huge and the quality of the ingredients are great. We had a much more expensive dinner the night prior at an Izakaya for a birthday celebration and the group agreed that this meal the very next day was way better for less than half the price! Service here is strong. They serve you quickly and check in often. The ambiance is also super family friendly with tables that spin so you can share all the dishes family style. I was visiting my parents and my dad has been here before and said it was really good, so we decided to come here for dinner. Got seated around 7pm on a Wednesday and there were maybe about 4 other tables, but by the time we were finished, the place was pretty much packed. It's good to see this place is doing well, I remember when it was a Shakey's pizza and then they went through a bunch of different Asian restaurants which all couldn't make it. Anyway, we got one jjajangmyeon, one combination chow mein, one pork fried rice, and one spicy garlic eggplant. My parents are pretty particular about good Chinese food, and they liked the food a lot. Food was really flavorful and you can tell they cooked it in a really hot wok or pan to really get that nice, deep flavor. Total was around $90 including tip, so it's not cheap. However, portion sizes are decent. Staff seems to be a mix of Koreans and Chinese and they were all friendly. They also give you some yellow radish and onion side dish and a sweet potato type dessert. A lot of tables were ordering some kind of fried dish, I think it was the sweet and sour pork. Think we will try that next time we come here. read more

My favorite Chinese Korean restaurant!!! This place is definitely family owned and you can feel how family oriented this is! The servers are super friendly and they speak both mandarin and Korean! Their dishes are all such good portions that you always leave with extras to go home with. We got so much food to take home because of the serving sizes which was nice. We got the gal jajangmyeon, jjampong, tangsuyuk, fried shrimp, and sizzling rice soup. Everything was seasoned perfectly and not overly salty. We came around 5:30pm so there was no wait but there were already several tables occupied. Staff was friendly and quick with providing menus, tea, and taking our orders. Tried this place for the first time this past weekend and was very impressed by their Jjamppong! The spicy broth had a strong seafood flavor, and the bowl itself came with a LOT of noodles, vegetables, and seafood (squid, octopus, shrimp). I ordered a small size ($12), and I thought it was very filling and worth the price! You get complimentary onions, radish, and fresh tea as well. The Jjajangmyeon was also pretty good! It was a little bit on the saltier side for me though. I also tried the Fried Dumpling, but I would say that item is skippable. Nothing special and I wish it came with a thick dipping sauce of some sort. The staff are extremely kind and food comes out very quick (around 5-7 minutes). Amazing customer service and delicious food to back it up. The parking lot is pretty quaint and the interior is very warm and vibrant. Went here for Sunday lunch and the place wasn't entirely packed. We got the fried pork, fried shrimp, Mongolian beef, and the jjajangmyeon. Everything was delicious but the fried pork and fried shrimp stole the show for sure. A lot of people recommended the fried pork because of how crispy it is. They purposely put the sauce on the side so you can enjoy the crispiness of the pork and the sweet/tangy sauce. To my surprise, they were packed for lunch on a Thursday which is a good sign. I wanted to try the Korean sweet & sour pork and if you come for lunch, they have lunch specials so you can get the sweet & sour pork with your choice of noodles. We ordered lunch special #2 with the sweet & sour pork + ja-jiang mien (smaller bowl than the regular size) and a standard sized bowl of the Jjampong (seafood spicy noodles). These are probably the top three dishes based on what everyone else was ordering at lunch. The sweet & sour pork didn't taste how I thought it would from the pics but it was good. You definitely need to eat it with the sauce though. The ja-jiang mien sauce was good and like most Korean style ja-jiang mien (compared to a more Chinese version) it has little to no meat in it so be warned if you were expecting more protein. Yong Moon Liu hits all the right notes when it comes to Korean-Chinese cuisine. They delivered all the classic dishes with high quality. The 자장면 (Jajangmyeon) was spot on--thick, chewy (쫄깃쫄깃 ) noodles coated in that rich, savory black bean sauce. 짬뽕 (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup) got depth, heat, and a generous mix of seafood. The 탕수육 (Sweet and Sour Pork) was crispy with just enough chew. I know some like to pour the sauce over but I actually like getting a bowl for the sauce and dip the pork in the sauce instead. 깐풍새우 (Spicy Garlic Fried Shrimp) was a crowd favorite... at least it was my favorite. I could just eat it without sauce. 마파두부 (Mapo Tofu) was great with rice too. Just a note, If you were expecting traditional Chinese version with the numbing spiciness or the Japanese style that's sweeter, then you may not find this version to stand out. But I think this version is good in its own way. Everything came out hot and well-seasoned. There's a lot of private room so I think it's a great restaurant to have large parties. I wouldn't be surprised if people celebrate the first birthday (돌) party here. Service was efficient and low-key. Most importantly, all the portions were generous.
