Scheduled this for a team event with my group from work. There were 11 of us and we all had so much fun! Brian did a great job as our coach and server - very energetic! We enjoyed the drink selection as well. We had a dinner afterward so didn't try any food. Doing this because Axes and O's emailed me and asked me to, so here we go... Would not recommend at all. Go to Elysium in Purcellville instead. That is what we had to do after our reservation for a party of eight on Sunday (10/30) at 4;00pm was changed within the system. Skye Barber (self-appointed manager?) claimed that she attempted to call and inform us of the issue, but left no voicemail and no missed call was present on any of the phone numbers left by the party. Bit suspect. According to Miss Barber, Axes and O's is going to adhere to their strict 72-hour notice cancellation policy and give no refunds when the system made the error and then email and ask for a review... Spouse and I were looking for something different to (belatedly) celebrate Valentine's Day and we remembered hearing about axe throwing as a fun activity for couples. In our area, the recommendations for Axes and O's were very positive, so we gave it a try --- and had an awesome experience! Our instructor was patient and explained the how-to's for axe throwing and once we had our footing he showed us 2 common 'games' you can play that are point-based. It took awhile, but once we had memorized the point system we were having a blast. It was an afternoon session so the facility was very quiet, but I can see how in the evenings and on weekends it would be a happening scene. Speaking of that, I really like that the facility includes spots of eat (high top tables) as well as couches to relax and socialize while you're waiting for a lane or taking some time off to rest your arms. I should add that we tried two appetizers/snacks and both were delicious. If it weren't for the time of day we'd probably have tried some adult beverages, too. Four of us signed up for this online. Online sign in quick and easy. No one in group had ever tried Axe throwing. Checked in was a breeze. We were on our own lane. The guy I didn't catch his name wore a kilt and had a ponytail. He was excellent in instructing us how to throw the axes. Not once but was there anytime we had questions or offered how we could have a better form to get the axe to stick and centered. It was 1 1/2 hours which is plenty of time. Definitely a fun time! I thought we were going to be given axes and a lane for 90 mins and be bored after 15 but we had an awesome guide (Pedro with the kilt) that showed us how to throw two different axes and then led our group through several games! I def recommend having an even numbered group as the lanes are two at a time. Our group had an odd number but Pedro made it work perfectly. Alcohol menu was nice. My sons were in town and we were looking for something fun to do, something geared more towards adults. My husband found Axes and Oh's while looking online and reserved a spot for us. Reservations were easy and you need to put half down when reserving. The lady taking the reservation was super friendly and very informative of the process of checking in, signing the waivers, and what to expect. We went on a Sunday, because on Sundays they allow ages 14 and over, and I have another son who is 15. Once we were settled in our lane our instructor was very thorough in teaching us how to throw and the safety precautions that were necessary. To note none of us have ever thrown before. We felt safe the entire time and we felt we definitely go our money worth. Ask for Pedro as your instructor. He is personable and so funny. He has so much patience and if he can handle and teach my rowdy family he can instruct anyone. My husband was having trouble at first so the owner (I believe) took him to another area to work more one on one with him . When he came back he whooped all our butts in almost every game! To add, the actually have good food! It is NOT anything like what you would find at a bowling alley or arcade. Very tasty and good amount of items to choose from. Beer and wine is served as well in a very controlled environment. In other words safety first and you can't go there and get drunk and expect to sling axes at a wall. Totally understandable! ;-). We absolutely had a blast, highly recommend this place for anything from a family get together, team building for work, to bachelorette/bachelor parties, to even date night! You can not go wrong. CHECK THEM OUT !! It was our first time with ax throwing and it was an amazing experience! Every employee is so friendly and ready to answer questions. They not only offer ax throwing but they also have a bar and a kitchen. You MUST try their butter cookies...soooo delicious. Our "teacher" Pedro was phenomenal! He showed us how to throw the axes and little competitive games we can play. I don't have the best aim or athletic abilities and he had so much patience with me. What a lot of fun! Three of us went on 1/22 and had a great time. The facility has a lot of protocols in place for Covid. I saw our coach washing his hands multiple times. We had been to a really nice "ax" place in Phila so we were comparing this place to that. I liked that the coach sprayed our target multiple times as well - helps the ax stick. He saw that we weren't doing great and suggested a different game, which we liked. He was very attentive. Good selection of beer and snacks, not expensive. We'll definitely be returning. read more
