WOW! Five stars for this excellent bargain! Stuck in this town (sorry locals) for a week and wanted to try the expensive Mexican restaurant in town but they were packed. Came right down the street to this here place and didn't have to wait. I decided to get takeout and they have an extensive menu. The fellow at the counter was friendly and helpful. I ordered a shrimp enchilada plate and when the guy rang it up, it was $8.50 total! I was totally shocked. I said "that's all?" I didn't expect much for that price but it was delicious! We stopped here on our way home from a trip. The outside of the place doesn't look like anything, and we probably wouldn't have stopped except for other Yelp reviews. But it was definitely worth the visit. My husband had a carnitas chimichanga - it was huge, and the meat was chopped small and very moist. I ordered a carne asada tostado, but they got my order wrong and gave me a carne asada torta instead. I decided to eat that anyway, and it was really good. It had a lot of meat, along with lettuce, tomato, beans, avocado, and sour cream. The bread was soft and fresh. It was messy but delicious. Menudo had no spice to it. Extremely overpriced for the portion and quality. The tortillas are NOT homemade, they are store bought. We also tried the chilaquiles... also very lack luster. 33 bucks for 2 plates. Very overpriced. The salsas and beans were delicious. read more

This restaurant was and is exactly what we were looking for when we decided to get a hearty and even healthy Mexican meal. The menu is excellent as was our food. My husband and I have been coming here for the past 10 years or more. We drive this longer route to the coast just so we can stop here at our favorite taco spot. Hands down the best street tacos, and Mexican food in general. The homemade tortillas are great, and the quality of the carne asada is so much better than anywhere else. (I notice because carne asada is always my first meat choice). And the service is great. I don't ever leave reviews but decided this place has more than earned one from me. Perfect hole in the wall, let me tell you I had the nopales with eggs, onion and cilantro scrambled and side of those perfect pinto beans, the Nopales were delicious just like my Mom used to make them. The Salsas were all delicious it was hard to choose which one but they were all delicious. My wife had a breakfast burrito with bacon egg and beans potatoes and cheese and it was also delicious. Outstanding little Mexican restaurant on the 126 in Fillmore. For 3 of us, it averaged about 9 dollars a plate for a great and filling lunch. The plates included beans and rice, which are perfect. Nothing crazy or unusual about it, just good flavorful food. The chicken tacos were filling and tasted excellent. My family got the large sized Horchata and I drank the Mexican coke. A side of chips and salsa included. A really, really good meal. I will definitely make this my go-to place for lunch in Fillmore! Located right at the west end of Fillmore, on highway 126. I been coming here for quite sometime, I will be honest it is hit our miss on the quality the food. I like the tacos, sopes, burritos, the tripas are pretty consistent. The Menudo is probably the best thing here, but you have to come early before the pot sells out. I think it's one the best menudos I have tasted. The price is not cheap but not expensive. The have alcoholic beverages. The seating is limited they do serve you. The parking is small. There is a liquor store next to it. There is a dirt parking if you want to park on the side of the dirt. They have an salsa bar which they do have really good salsa. Fountain drinks, variety of meats, unisex one bathroom. The service is not slow at all it is pretty average. This place looks so worn down and shabby you'd probably drive right past. That would be a mistake. The food is great and the staff is very friendly. Mgr. offered more tortillas when he noticed I was on my last one. Had Huevos Rancheros with Chile Verde and a side of thick, meaty smoked bacon. Of course, a cold Modelo to wash it down. The eggs were slightly runny, but mixed with the Chile Verde juice and another warm tortilla, it was mopped right up. Left full and satisfied.
