    Chicken Burrito
    Kevin B.

Stunned I have never reviewed this place. Ay Guey is one of life's food gifts to us. It's a small hole in the wall place, many places have been in and out of this location but it's here to stay. They have counter seating, a cute patio out front with some tables and about 3-4 tables inside, place is very clean. Service is always timely, they have a bunch of different salsas/hot sauce to try with your meals, love it. I usually get a chicken or steak burrito, best bang for your buck. It's always a huge burrito filled with rice, beans, juicy meat and avocado, always leave full. My wife and I also love their nachos, come out on a huge tray, no shortages of portions here. She also enjoys the chicken quesadilla, she's picky about them but loves them from here, Ay Guey is a must try, one of the states best offerings in my opinion.

Coworkers were looking for a lunch spot and I wanted Mexican so found this place. Fit the bill perfectly. Everyone raved about their food. The huaraches are like a tamale pizza and excellent. Would definitely come back again, just note that it's fairly small inside but looked to be a decent number more seats outside.

Staff was friendly, waitress had good energy. Cozy place. But food is just like clean and delicious and authentic, so the food is at that 5 level, especially for the price.

It does not get any better or more fresh! I am slowly eating my way down the menu. In warmer weather, they have some decent seating outside. Staff is welcoming and know everything that comes out of the kitchen. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Had a wonderful experience at this establishment! Made a post on Facebook to find out more and received over 130 responses attesting what great food this restaurant had to I decided to take a friend and find out for myself! I ordered steak nachos & my friend ordered a steak fajita. We ate outside on a beautiful evening! Service was great. Food came out hot and cooked perfectly. Steak was great. Moist, seasoned & tender!!! I since then have gone back and gotten tacos. They use quality produce and meat so where some people may think it's alittle expensive for the area I can see you it's not! And those nachos can feed a few people! I ordered them as my meat and could only eat 1/3!!!

How I do find new-to-me restaurants? Many times, I drive 45 minutes from home, and Yelp Search "things to eat" for the "current location". That's how I learned about 5 Star elevated Mexican casual Ay Guey ("AG") AG is in a white house-type structure a bit north of the Stratford plaza with the Home Depot. Although AG is not a fancy restaurant, the atmosphere is a selling point. Lots of natural light and big windows. Cool art and decor. Modern. Well-designed. Open kitchen. Many people got takeout, but I ate there and would love to do so again. Service was very helpful and friendly. AG has tacos, quesadillas, plates, bowls, etc. I ordered a Carne Asada plate, which came with slices of Carne Asada, smooth black beans, rice, avocado, a mild soft white cheese, pico and three fresh tortillas. I enjoyed the complimentary salsa roja and chicharon circles so much, that I asked for salsa with my meal as well. My server leveled up and brought fresh salsa verde and roja in two mugs, housed in a cool little carrying case. Everything about this plate was very good. The steak was lean and tasty. The puréed black beans had a slightly different flavor that I couldn't place, but I liked it. The tortillas were great. The long cheese piece seemed grilled. The rice was good. The avocado was artfully sliced. I loved the salsas. So flavorful and they tied everything together. While I was taking pictures after I ordered, I learned that Yelp had declared that AG had the best Burritos in CT for '22. I immediately regretted not ordering a burrito, but I did what I do. I problem-solved. Burrito to go! I ordered an Al Pastor for myself and a Veggie for my wife. I re-heated my burrito for dinner. This obviously isn't the best way to judge food, but it was full of great ingredients like meaty pork, pineapple, avocado, onions, cheese, etc. It had rice, but it didn't feel like unnecessary filler. Just a bit of complimentary rice. It was very good, and would have been great if I ate it at the restaurant. I predict that Ay Guey will find its way onto a Yelp Top Places to Eat in CT list in the near future. No inside knowledge. Just reading the tea leaves. Five Stars

The food is delicious! the space is clean and well decorated/furnished. Worth the price for the quality and taste. Would definitely recommend checking this place out.

This quaint little spot was heaven sent! We stopped here after a day at a book con & WOW! This was the highlight of our day in CT. The food is DELICIOUS, the presentation is also great for such a small place. The authenticity is felt in the flavor. It is a very clean eatery & service was top notch. Will definitely visit again & looking forward to visiting their other business in Trumbull.

A pleasant surprise! We weren't sure what to expect as we were traveling the I-95 corridor,…read morelunchtime was approaching, and we were craving Mexican. So Acapulcos appeared to be easy-on/easy-off from the interstate (and it was), parking was ample, and we entered a cheery and colorful interior. We were greeted by the pleasant and friendly proprietor and served promptly. The complimentary chips and salsa were quite good ( is there anything better than warm, thin tortilla chips and a spanking bright salsa?). I had a combination plate, choosing a pork tamale and a chile rellano which also came with refried beans and Mexican-style rice. The chile rellano was excellent, fried nicely with a light batter and not excessively cheesy or heavy; the tamale was also very good, again not smothered in cheese or other extraneous toppings like big dollops of sour cream. Instead, you could really taste the tamale! My wife had a shrimp and avocado salad which she said was very good. Service was attentive and we loved the vibe of the place with its great music selection!

Seating is ample, staff are great (and they let me practice my Spanish without laughing at me) and the beer is cold. Mixed drinks are apparently "yummy" as per my wife. The supreme nachos as well as the guacamole are very flavorful in good sized portions. Several TVs in the bar. Great lighting. Very clean bathrooms.

I may add that I live 90 minutes from here and only come to this town 1-3 times a year. So, my friends usually take my suggestions and a group of eight of us showed up on a Saturday night with no reservation, and somehow the universe blessed us with a table. The place was packed, even the bar had people standing around it; so we knew we were in for a good night. One thing I loved about Cibus that night, is the crowd. It's a great mix of Hispanic and non‑Hispanic diners, which tells you the food speaks to everyone. The décor is warm and inviting, and the dimmed evening lighting gives it that cozy, "we're about to eat well" vibe. Parking was easy too. I have to admit I thought it may be harder to find parking but we found a spot right behind the restaurant, though street parking is also an option, but was packed. Our server, David, deserves his own shout‑out. Super patient, friendly, and ready with answers for every question we threw at him. He checked on us often without hovering, and everyone at the table agreed he did an excellent job. Now, the food...my favorite part. If you've read my reviews before, you know I eat everything but have a soft spot for Asian cuisine. And even though I'm Hispanic, I rarely go out for Hispanic food because I cook it well at home and most places don't impress me. Cibus, however, did not disappoint. Not one dish missed the mark, and the whole table agreed. We even ordered extra food to take home. We started with the Garlic Shrimp with Mofongo. The creamy orange sauce caught me off guard because it's not the usual style, but it worked beautifully. The flavors were balanced, the mofongo wasn't dry (thank you!), and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. We liked it so much we ordered multiple plates of this one; plus two Cuban sandwiches to go. The Cuban was tasty, though it could use a little more meat and sauce. The Ropa Vieja was another hit. Plenty of meat, plenty of sauce, and the black beans were flavorful. A sprinkle of fresh cilantro on top would have made it perfect, but that's just me being picky with my extra flavors and aroma. We also had the ceviche, the trio of little mofongos, and the Chips and Guacamole -- and yes, they make their tortilla and plantain chips in‑house. Not a single crumb survived. I tried the Tostones Sliders with pork, and I wouldn't change a thing. They were loaded with meat, had the right amount of veggies and sauce, and were just delicious. The only dish that didn't wow me was the Maduro with cheese. I love maduros, but the melted mozzarella felt a little plain. There's so much potential here, instead of Mozart maybe try some queso Mexicano, a small side of meat sauce, chimichurri sauce, or even a spicy drizzle could take it to the next level. Speaking of spice, I asked for hot sauce and was surprised to get a watered‑down Frank's RedHot. For a Latin fusion restaurant, something like Cholula, El Yucateco, or Tapatío would fit the Latin fusion theme so much better and elevate the dishes. But overall, Cibus is doing so many things right -- great service, great food, great atmosphere. I'm already planning my next visit and bringing new people with me at end of May.

The waitress was apologetic and I understand humans forget things from time to time when you're busy. However, this evening was less than half full and when we left it was near closing time...only a couple tables were still there. The least they could have done was comp my meal or have the manager stop by to apologize. But that didn't happen, I just didn't want to make a fuss...so I paid the bill and time will tell if there is another visit in the future.
