Horrible place. Brought my audi in to get brakes fixed and they just pad slapped it . They put the brake pads facing the wrong way, I got charged $630 for just the front brakes and now i'm paying even more to get it fixed. Do not go here. Great neighborhood shop! I've been going here for the past few years and every time the owner has been fair and honest. Also successful fixing the job and getting it back on the road. Since the shop re-opened, they have a new car inspection process which was very efficient. I know that inspections can get pretty busy and take a while especially at the end of the month but this new system seems to cut down on the congestion and make it a much quicker process. read more

Wish I could give a zero star review. I was told my tint read 27% I asked to see the reader and it said 34.3% I said that isn't 27% and he kept moving the reader around after saying 33%+ continuously until it hit a dark spot and said 30% just to fail my inspection. I needed an inspection sticker but as someone mentioned in one of the reviews (wish I had first checked) these people look for any little thing to fail you. I was told I had no washer fluid and my Fog lamps weren't working. havent been working for the past 10 years and DMV doesnt seem them a safety issue as they are optional. guy wanted to fix them for me but I refused as I could just do it myself. I was back the next day and still he didnt know how to turn them on and was rude when I showed him. I strongly do not recommend. stay clear of this mess. read more

I went to Ayer Auto Repair on Central St in Ayer Ma . The guy was inspecting my car when someone ,possibly the owner interrupted him and told the inspector who was preparing my sticker came in and told him to flunk me because of a scrape on my rear sidewall. The tire is in good shape with less than 10,ooo miles on it. When I questioned them on this the second man threatened me. This shop should not be allowed to issue stickers. read more

I called the shop to ask about a few bolts I needed to be unscrewed. The guy I was talking to instantly denied my question because he stated "they break too easy not my area" having a 2003 GMC Sierra I know the bolts that connect the exhaust to the manifold are not easy to break, the body of these trucks are solid, helps the y body of the truck isn't rusted. I would be able to do it myself just don't have the tools. To sum up the story I feel like the way he approached my question came off rude. read more

Phishing for money. Made up fake loose play on the front of my vehicle to fail my inspection to then try and get me to make an appointment with them. I instead went to a trusted mechanic I know who found no play with the front end. I then went to a different place for an inspection sticker, even though I paid for the rejection sticker here, they found no play at all and just shook their head when I told them where I originally went. (I did not get an inspection sticker because go figure I had a license plate bulb out so they suggested I go back when they come back from vacation since I paid). Went to get my passing sticker, explained that 2 professional mechanics found no loose play but they did not care, he wanted again to set up and have me pay for a diagnostic through them so he could take everything apart and charge god knows what. A complaint was filed with the state and I will be having a state inspector reinspect my vehicle at their shop in front of them, can't wait for that since I have paperwork from 2 mechanics who state nothing was found who are clearly putting their names out there but these clowns try to play they care about my safety and it's on their hands. Nothing is wrong so what safety issue is on their hands except for them not wanting to admit they are wrong or they are just trying to scam people out of money. Can't wait for this to unfold in front of them. read more

My local garage does not have Inspection Sticker capabilities, so I asked for their recommendation on a trustworthy garage for stickers. I trust my mechanic 100% so when he gave me his recommendation I went with my wife's vehicle for an inspection sticker. Once the mechanic got into the vehicle I was informed the car would fail due to brakes, specifically the brake pedal went almost to the floor. He gave me advice to not have the car inspected as it would be a safety inspection violation and technically not driveable and to get it fixed immediately. He said it could have been air in the lines, master cylinder, or a caliper issue. He also put the car on the lift and looked at the brakes and at the end of the brake inspection didn't want to charge me anything. I believe in time is money, and I forced him to take some money for his time. Because the car is under warranty I went to my local dealership for repairs , it turns out the mechanic was correct in his diagnosis and there was a frozen caliper causing the brake issue. So I must say, he was right in his opinion of not being able to pass the vehicle due to the brakes and possibly saved my wife from having an accident in the near future. read more

Dishonest new owner. I used to trust Samir, the previous owner, he was wonderful. Very capable, fair about prices, and did repairs on both of our cars. The new owner did a small repair for me, a tire repair, was dishonest about breaking the emblem on the wheel well. Instead he tried to cover it up by switching the tires to another side of the car thinking I wouldn't notice ( perhaps because I'm a woman?). I called him questioning the issue, and he denied doing any such thing. Sadly, I have photos of the car with emblems on all 4 tires and not just 3, proving that he is indeed a liar and a dishonest person. Accidents happen, being dishonest is a choice. read more

The first time I used them was a couple of weeks ago (towards the beginning of January 2019) On my way to work, the car started acting funny, and I literally crawled to their garage. Diagnosis was the car needed a new alternator. I have a 2004 GMC Envoy. They fixed my car right there on the spot, and they did it right away. And the price was excellent! Both gentlemen were very nice and polite. I had a great experience, and I highly recommend them! They will now be my regular mechanic!!! read more

I came in for a new inspection sticker and my car was rejected for the E-brake. I was really nervous to go to the car dealership because they always charge way too much for repairs and then tell you your car needs all kinds of other repairs. I sat in a Honda dealership waiting for an oil change for 4 hours. It was a horrific experience! I asked Kamal if he would look over the issues so I could get a sticker. Without hesitation he brought my car in and looked over the issue. He also asked me to look over the situation and understand what needed to be done and why. He immediately went over the details of the job and pricing before starting the work. After a few hours my car had a new sticker, E-brake was fixed, and a new oil change that I asked for. Great Job!! Very disappointed when I brought my business vehicle in for a simple tire rotation and they falsely exclaimed to me "your tires are not safe for driving". As a woman owner/operator of a car service in Ayer, I stopped in for the first time with the hope that I might return as an ongoing customer for quick maintenance work. They attempted to convince me that there was threading separation in 3 of my vehicles tires. I expressed my alarm at the ramifications of what they were suggesting as safety is my number one priority for my customers. I asked them to stop rotating the tires while I contacted the tire company where my tires were still under warranty. They apparently did not expect this reaction from me and hoped I would agree to purchasing 4 new tires from them without question. I directed them to finish tire rotation and drove directly to my tire company as they suggested I do in order for them to confirm whether or not my tires were safe or not. Tire company mechanic told me "i would trust my daughter to drive this car". What I thought would be a simple tire rotation and the start of a local go-to shop for simple car maintenance turned into hours of my valuable time wasted all due to their greedy miscalculation and assumption of my vulnerability read more

Kamal at Ayer Auto Repair really knows his stuff. I recently had my a/c serviced because it was blowing straight hot air. He immediately diagnosed it and showed me that I had a huge hole in my condenser. I made an appointment the next day to get it fixed and recharged. The work was superb and the price for parts and labor were more than reasonable. I'm actually going back to get my wheel bearings done soon too.
