We…read moretold him that we wanted new fixtures in our shower (which we decided to install ourselves because he charged a lot) and he left THE SMALLEST CUTOUTS where the fixtures were supposed to go. My boyfriend asked him to make the holes larger, but he said that they "should be fine". We had to search many stores to try and find shower fixtures to fit, but when we couldn't we called Jim for help. Mind you, he said that if there was any issues with our project to tell him about it. We asked him to come and make larger cutouts so that we can fit the fixture into the wall. The appointment for Jim to come out to our house was setup for over a week and when the day came he said, "by the way it will cost $85 for me to come out." This is ridiculous because we paid him over $1,000 for the shower tile. I understand that people need to be paid for their time, but we asked him before the job was complete to make the whole bigger, but he convinced us that it was. When we found out that the Cutouts that he made were not big enough he REFUSED TO HELP US and called us a liar. He told me that we never told him about adding new fixtures. Why would we do a whole shower remodel and leave old fixtures in? That does not even make sense. As I was talking to Jim over the phone, he kept talking over me and would not listen. I gave him the courtesy of listening to what he had to say (basically telling us the problem were the size of our screws). This was not true because it had nothing to do with the screws, the hole is WAY too small to fit our shower fixture. I have not been able to use our brand new shower in the guest bathroom in our home because of this. Attention to detail was poor throughout the remodel. There was visible grout buildup in the corners, grout missing in several areas, and overall finishing that looked rushed and careless. I can't show clear pictures, but he used a clear silicone to caulk the sink, which he over-caulked, making it messy. He left it and considered the job complete. He didn't caulk the tub or around the toilets. I had to pay someone to recaulk. I paid him 9,500 for labor only. I paid for everything, including paint brushes. What should have been a straightforward bathroom remodel took nearly four months, when it should have been completed in about one month at most--or roughly seven days per bathroom. Progress was inconsistent, as the contractor did not work every day to get the job done. He said he was experienced, but the workmanship was extremely poor. I don't believe he is an experienced contractor for remodeling a bathroom that involves removing and replacing tile. I was told by the contractor that he would be working with someone else on the project, which did not happen. I later learned that he took on another job while still working for me, which significantly delayed completion. This felt misleading and unprofessional. Overall, the communication, scheduling, and workmanship were unacceptable. I would not recommend this contractor to anyone looking for quality work, reliability, or honesty. I would not recommend him and if you do use him, I advise you proceed with caution.
