I reached out to several tattoo shops in the Valley hoping to find someone that could assist me in restoring and cleaning up my Batman tattoo. Most artists really don't want anything to do with another artist's work and rightfully so. This is common practice and I wasn't offended at all, I just kept searching. I reached out to a handful of shops on Yelp and AZ Tattoo Asylum responded the same day advising they would be willing to assist me with this restoration and clean-up. I found the artist profiles on Instagram and decided I'd approach Isaac to see if he would be willing to assist. I went to the shop early on a Saturday and had him review my current work and then explained what I'd ultimately like to achieve. Isaac was totally on board and agreed to assist me! So the shop itself is located at 51st x Thunderbird on the border of Peoria / Glendale. It's a super convenient location especially for me since I live on this side of town. The parking lot area opens up to another larger strip mall so there's plenty of ample parking. Their shop opens at 10 a.m. on a Saturday which is nice. For some reason, tattoo shops have this connotation that the artists are in a cheesy 80's metal hair band and therefore, they open late and close early. Not the case at all for the AZ Tattoo Asylum. They're at their stations at 10 a.m. on a Saturday ready to turn your piece of art into a reality which is pretty awesome all by itself. The store entrance is clean, the workstations are clean and it's a place you can feel comfortable. After chatting it up with Isaac a couple of weeks ago, I scheduled my visit with him today. As I've already mentioned numerous times, the artist workstations are exceptionally clean, sanitary and you can rest assured you're in a professional environment. We got started right away and after a 4-hour sitting, I am so stoked with the way my old tattoo has been transformed! It is 1,000% better than it ever was! It's bright, the lines are so crisp and clean and the colors are so vivid now! Isaac killed it and I could not be happier with the way this is turning out! If you need any work done at all, please please please do yourself a favor and check out the awesome folks at AZ Tattoo Asylum! One quick friendly FYI from a fellow Yelp Elite member, their business is cash-only, however, they do have an ATM machine on site in their lobby for your convenience. That said, I would not hesitate at all to recommend Isaac at the AZ Tattoo Asylum to my family, friends, co-workers or fellow Yelp'ers! Go check 'em out! read more

Just stumbled across this place on my way home from another consult one day. Thought what the heck, the more opinions and options the better. Came in, looked at portfolios, and was AMAZED! Everyones work looked so good but two really spoke to me. So booked with both!! First one, today obviously, is with K-Ta, the owner. Her lines are clean, shading is amazing, and outstanding color. She has a very light hand as well. #thankful. Thigh stings a bit. In two weeks will be with Jorge! His watercolor work is phenomenal. Gave him a description of what I wanted and he is drawing it up. I got my fingers tattooed by Jorge and the entire process went smoothly! I was able to walk right in, show him what I wanted, and we discussed the process. He did warn me that tattoos on the fingers are harder to maintain and there would be a good chance I would need to come back for a touch up. He showed me pictures of what it could turn out to look like to make sure I fully understood. He was very informative and wasn't trying to just take my money. We set a date and we did my tattoo and a few weeks later I followed up with a touch up. Both times everything was sterile and new out of the packaging. My husband got a tribal tattoo from Hanalei. My husband asked several times, if he would be able to cover up the tattoo and if not add onto the old tattoo on the upper arm. Hanalei insisted several times he can create a great piece hiding the old tattoo 100% , which I should've went with my gut and thought that was impossible. I have several tattoos covering my body and I know coverups are difficult. He destroyed my husband's arm. He press so hard he has tons of scar tissue and is all bumpy. He bled so much it was shocking. Never have I or he bled so much through a tattoo session. We both have several tattoos. Hanalei insisted paying in advance and proceeded to put my husband off for weeks and weeks. When he did schedule him he never made a design sketch. he stated he does his work best freehand and asked if I saw his portfolio. Yet another red flag. He screwed up his arm royally!! His tattoo looks like a jacked up rooster. After the second session, months later and charging additional. Completely overcharging us, we were walking out and his friends in the lobby started poking fun at my husband and laughing at his tattoo, commenting how Hanalei F***ed up. Horrible practice. I would not recommend Tattoo Asylum. He and his wife are extremely rude until they get their money upfront. Terrible, terrible place and now forever scarred!!!! read more

Hands down. 5 stars. Jorge did a 3D butterfly on my shoulder yesterday and I am absolutely in love. I will never go to a different tattoo artist. He is absolutely unbelievable and very talented indeed. I sent him a picture of a real blue morpho butterfly and he was able to duplicate the colors and details even better than I ever imagined. Terrible tattoo technique by one of the artists. He will leave you very scarred, very bruised and bleed WAY more than necessary. LADIES, if you plan on getting tattooed here please bring a friend. You may experience some inappropriate comments behind closed doors. If you don't have a friend with you an artist may make a pass at you while you are having a sensitive area tattooed.
