We stumbled upon this place last year looking for a last minute dinner reservation and knew we needed to return again. We sat at the bar and enjoyed chatting with the bar tender. The bread is incredible and I could eat about three loaves. We decided to do a little mix and match this time and started with the wings which were cooked to perfection with a salty, but almost a little sweet seasoning. The celery on the side and the blue cheese were perfect accouterments. My husband got the chicken sandwich, which was huge, with fries, which were like McDonald's fries on crack. We got their oysters and shrimp ceviche to start which were done right on. There warm bread and infused butter is a must to get. There farm to table vegetable dishes are a must - we got the Beet and Peach Salad and Smashed Cucumbers and Peanuts. I first dined at Table in November, soon after we got clean running water back. I ordered the roast chicken and it was the BEST chicken I've ever had, I've been thinking about it since. A friend visited town for the weekend so we decided to go back. The accoutrements with the chicken changed, but the chicken itself was still perfection. It's somehow so juicy and crispy. I would eat this every day if I could. We also ordered the broccolini, lamb & beef kefte kabob, and cabbage salad which were all fantastic. I'd love to try more of the vegetables and starters, but I'll absolutely be ordering the chicken every time. Side note! I was diagnosed with celiac disease and have been learning how to safely navigate gluten free options. Our server let me know the fryer is only used for GF ingredients, as even the fried chicken sandwich uses rice flour and is GF! I believe everything except the pasta and maybe sandwich buns are GF. We support locally-owned Asheville restaurants and finally made our way to Table on Lexington. The wine and cocktail menus are impressive and our server (Kareem) eagerly called upon the sommelier to answer questions and deliver a tasty Tempranillo. The pistachio, granola, chocolate grenache tart with a dollop of mint cream was the highlight of our meal. Salt appears to be a trend among some chefs and this was overwhelmingly the primary spice in several of our dishes, including the pasta & polpette (chicken meatballs) and pork schnitzel. The beet mutabal appetizer was flavorful (but salty), as was the dry-aged meet kabob. Service was adequate and attentive but with no recognition of the feedback of the high sodium content. read more

This past weekend+ we went to some amazing dinner places in Asheville: Curate Jargon Table Rhubarb Table took the crown with best all around experience, food, drinks, etc. Table was impressive. The table got: Hanger steak Burger and fries Radish salad Chicken and dumplings Oysters Chicken meatballs Crème brûlée Coconut and chocolate sorbet (v) I was a bad yelper and forgot to take pictures . Let me talk about a few of the items: The Hanger Steak was the best cooked steak out of all the other restaurants mentioned above. Burger and fries was an amazing treat. Chicken and Dumplings was unique and perfectly cooked. Great sauce too. Let's skip to the best part of evening. The vegan coconut sorbet and the chocolate sorbet. It's hard to get great dessert options when you're vegan. The sorbets here was the one best item two different people on our trip ate all weekend. It was amazing, but the secret is to combine one coconut and one chocolate in the same bowl, which creates a cold and warm effect and is lights out. Please never stop making those sorbets. read more

We tried Table at their new location on Lexington Ave for dinner on a Saturday evening. The place gets a nice late afternoon light. It had a lively atmosphere. I ordered the two pastas on the menu, a spaghetti with sprouted cauliflower and anchovies and a cavatelli with rabbit and spring alliums. Both were outstanding. My husband had the wreckfish. It came with radishes, olives, capers and raisins. The service was attentive and the food came out fast. They have an interesting menu, with a couple large format entrees, for two people. A whole fish, (today was trout) and a ribeye. They are not cheap but they are gigantic. There were several things on the menu that I'm hoping to try soon. Desserts were also made in house, and were equally delicious! I ordered a banana pot de crème that had this salty, buttery sweetness about it, so unique. 1.5 Food Poisoning, we ordered the oysters and some radicchio salad and chicken. Called Marissa or Patrick and informed them. 1/27 Friday 5:30pm Waiter was cool. 6 hrs later heaving terribly. Ruined our vacation. Stayed in the hotel the next two days to recover before driving home. Check was like 450 with wine and just asked for food to be reimbursed. No such thing. No one called us back until Monday as Sunday was there day off. What's aggravating is also watching your spouse go through the same thing. Stuart really made this dining experience exceptional not only with his knowledge of each food item but also with his super relaxed personality yet attentive service. We started with the homemade bread and butter. The crust had a salty texture and taste, not unlike a hot pretzel. Delicious! I had a homemade pasta with mushrooms and Parmesan. Not sure how this simple dish was elevated, maybe the herbs or freshness of mushrooms or the pappardelle. The portion was small but exceptional. My boyfriend and I both had Table's spin on a Cosmo and it did not disappoint. We started with this bread-so moist and warm with a crispy outside and perfectly melted butter. Neither of us eat a lot of bread, so this was worth the splurge. A various bean salad with feta, nuts and a delicious dressing followed. So different and tasty. We shared the rabbit sugo (or also known as ragu) ricotta stuffed cavatelli entree since we had a late lunch. It had just the right amount of spice and filling. The cavatelli melted in your mouth. We didn't leave any plates clean as it was all so delicious. We went on a Saturday night around 8pm so it was packed. The acoustics weren't the greatest as my boyfriend and I had a hard time hearing each other and we were sitting relatively close. But all in all, a quaint spot, great drinks, food and service.
