It's hard to find people you can trust and rely upon, especially in areas regarding sales. That being said, I wanted to reach out and personally give accolades to my first point of contact: Clint Crary. I immediately felt comfortable with him, and his delivery of information was, and continues to be, top notch. Aside from being very knowledgeable in a multitude of areas, he proved to excell further yet in what is arguably the most vital virtue of integrity. Throughout the entire process, I had many many questions. I tend to be overly-analytical, cautious and even weary when it comes to large, expensive projects that I'm not personally performing or overseeing. Clint did a stellar job of easing my doubt, primarily because he was downright honest. He refused to "sell" me. Instead, he informed me. I really want it to be known that Mr. Crary has superior character traits to other folks I spoke with in your industry. Your company (through Clint) was the first bid I received of what became 4 total bids. It wasn't the cheapest. It wasn't the most local company. It wasn't the biggest company. I purchased a home with an existing solar pool heating system installed by Aztec Solar. Every 6 months, per Aztec's recommendation, I pay over $100 for them to come out to seasonally maintenance the system, once in May, once in October. During these seasonal maintenance jobs, Aztec also is supposed to inspect the system for any damage and then offer repairs. Every time there is something in need of repair (which is virtually every time) I elect to have it repaired. Most recently, I inquired through a different solar company about installing Solar panels on my roof for electricity generation. The inspector noticed my existing solar pool heating system was leaking water on my roof. I notified Aztec about it and they offered to send someone out to repair. Here's where it got bad. They charge OUTRAGEOUS repair rates. First, they charge a mandatory $84.99 for the first 15 minutes of the appointment along with another $3.50 for travel expenses. Then, they charge an additional $18.75 for every 15 minutes that follows! So even if a simple o-ring needed to be replaced, you would be charged at minimum $105 given the amount of time it takes for them to climb a two-story home, survey the damage, repair, and get off the roof. That's assuming they do it all in under 30 minutes. But there's also no way to truly police their service tech's time so it would be easy for them to bill for 45-60 minutes and charge $140 for the same project. All that, plus they charge you for parts too. I called and spoke to a customer service representative about my concerns over price gouging. I said, "I pay for bi-annual service of my system, most recently in May of 2017. So if something in the system fails in August, only 3 months after it was inspected, don't you think Aztec should take some accountability and survey the problem at no charge to the customer, especially one that pays for inspection every 6 months?" She deflected my concerns stating their rates are to ensure they can pay their employees but I don't buy it for a second. I said, "What if the failure was due to human error by the technician at your last inspection?!" She said our system is old and that the probable cause for continued failure is the age of the system. I asked how long are systems warrantied? She said 12 years. I asked when the system was installed. She replied, "It's irrelevant because you didn't purchase the system. You bought this house from the original owners who did purchase it and the warranty doesn't transfer." I asked her again to tell me when it was installed and she said June 2006 which makes my system just over 11 years old, still, under the 12 years, it should be covered. But since the original homeowners sold their home to me, the warranty is now null and void. I told her that's terrible business practice and she threw blame to the manufacturer. Beware everyone. Some of the positive reviews here seem to relate to NEW INSTALLS, which maybe they're wonderful to work with in those situations....but in regards to maintenance of existing systems, this company will gouge every dollar they can for even the pettiest repairs. I've worked with plenty of contractors who will not only come and inspect an issue for free, but often will fix small things a very little cost to the customer. My pool service guy does this, my irrigation contractor did this, my carpet guy did this. But to Aztec, this is completely foreign. $84.99 for the first 15 minutes and $18.75 for every 15 minutes that follows.... RIDICULOUS! read more

Wow! I am super bummed. I have done business with Aztec Solar for years and had them conduct a winterization and spring maintenance for roughly $189. Our pool guy was out today and turned on our solar and noticed a cap was missing so water was running down the roof. I let him know that I would contact Aztec Solar to get the spring maintenance and let them know about the cap. The person I spoke with said the missing cap would be considered a repair (note: no one has touched that Solar except Aztec) . I let her know that the cap wasn't broken, it was missing. She continued to give me a price of $134 for the first 15 minutes and $22 for every 15 minutes after as well as $229 for the combo pack (spring and winter service). I let her know that it didn't land right on the repair cost since the cap is missing. She then said I could go to Sierra Pacific Solar if I didn't want to move forward. I have to say up until today, I would have highly recommended Aztec, but today's call was very disappointing and enlightening. I called Aztec Solar on 8/2/2021 spoke with Carrie. I told her I needed my inverter installed and I had not purchased my solar system from them. I informed her it had been purchased 2 years ago from Peterson Dean. I asked Carrie if they would be able to install my inverter from Solar Edge. Carrie said yes, for a flat fee of $130, then $70/hour and a $25 travel charge. I told her I would call her back once I received my replacement inverter. I called back on 8/5/2021, again speaking with Carrie and set up an appointment for 8/12/2021. My appointment window was between 12n and 2pm. My appointment window came and went without any call from the technician. I called Carrie shortly thereafter. I had to call fives times before I was able to speak with her. I would get transferred to her voicemail and then to another person's voicemail. Some person tried to look to see what was going on and told me I didn't have an appointment. She could only see where I had called in on 8/2. I told her I had made the appointment a week ago with Carrie and had also spoken with Carrie that morning. She put me on hold and I got disconnected. By this time is it 4pm. I speak with Carrie and she informs me that her manager canceled my appointment because he said that don't come as far as Brentwood and she had just found out. However, I was supposed to call Carrie once the technician completed the job regarding payment. Common sense, if I had not received a call from my customer regarding payment I certainly would have called them or either my technician for status! Carrie assures me that she is going to speak with her manager the following morning and call me by 10 am. Well, 10 am came and went with no call. I call her at 11:30 am and got the run around. I have never received a callback from Carrie! This was the worst customer service! Absolutely poor communication! The technician could have also called and stated my appointment had been canceled. That would have been the most prudent thing to do! You would also think before you make an appointment with a potential customer you would know your boundaries regarding the cities you can and will provide service! I called for service to repair a leak in my pool solar heater. The technician was professional, fast and efficient. He had everything fixed in a jiffy. However when the bill arrived they charged me 127.00 for an Aquatherm 1.5" Vacuum Release Valve. I can find this part all over the internet for 26.50. When I called to see if this was an error (maybe they added a 1 in front by accident?) I was informed, that nope this is their price... in the future I will replace my own parts, thank you. read more

I needed a diagnosis and repair to my existing system, installed by The Solarco, which is now out of business. Aztec promptly scheduled a technician "Kyle" to come out to my property in Valley Springs. He had the problem diagnosed and repaired fast. I called multiple companies for service and Aztec was the only one I found that could help me. Sierra Pacific that had sent me a post card to my address, said I was out of their area, but could maybe send someone out for an extra charge maybe in about six months. Several other companies next even returned calls. I cannot comment about Aztec's install or prices, but you can count on their service. I had the solar pool heater installed. My experience from top to bottom was extraordinary. They came in at a reasonable price. The sales person Jack A. Was really helpful and very knowledgeable. I determined the system, after much research, was the best. Minimal connections and plumbing. The install was really easy. The guys were very respectful and careful with my plants. The most important part was, it works! Really works so much better than expected.by day 4 my super large poll was 12 degrees warmer. And now 7 days later it is 28 degrees warmer! Crazy! I bought my house in 2017 and it had solar installed two years prior and paid for by previous owner. Looked through paperwork and saw it has a 25 year warranty. There was a leak right where panels were so I called Aztec and said hey there is a leak right where panels are can you guys address issue they said there is no warranty due to I wasn't the one who bought the solar. So I said ok so there's no warranty anymore due to I didn't buy it? Still should be over twenty years coverage. So I asked ok so what if I have an issue with my solar at any time they said firstly you didn't buy it secondly the company that produced the solar panels and inverter for home went under so there's no warranty. I sware this statement is the god honest truth I'm a blue collar guy I am an electrician so I was dumbfounded when this response was said. Quote you a price with an estimated installation date and no further communication until you reach out to the company as the date approaches only to be told it's pushed back. As the new date approaches you will be told the price has increased almost 30%. After waiting 3 months with no real updates and suddenly they communicate to ask for more money. Making the decision to go solar was a difficult one, it's a BIG investment! How do you know how much savings you will truly get and if your financial investment will reap returns for you? My husband and I did a ton of research ourselves before even deciding to make a phone call to entertain bids and information from vendors. Aztec solar was the company that we decided to go with. They were so helpful from the moment of our first contact to the our first meeting. We had a ton of questions and Jack Stanger came to our house with catered information that was just for us! They took the time even before we were committed customers to show us what kind of savings WE would have based on OUR utility information. Jack was caring and kind and super informative. We never felt pressured into anything. I learned so much from this first initial meeting with Jack, not only about what a reputable company Aztec is, but about solar in general and all of the many options there really are out there. Jack came with a variety of financing options to choose from and left all of the information with us and waited patiently for our decision. I called Jack maybe three or four times after that (and God knows how many emails) ALL of our calls were answered and ALL emails replied to promptly. We knew that Aztec was the company that we were going to go with, I told Jack and our planning began. This is about the time that I checked Yelp for reviews...OH MY! Are you people sure you are reviewing the same company?! I have to admit that I was uneasy after reading them, I prepared myself for them to not return my calls and become evasive after our commitment to buy. Well...THAT NEVER HAPPENED! The entire office staff has kept open lines of communication with me throughout this entire process. Even the install guys were polite and pleasant to be around. They worked diligently and smoothly and respectfully! Our roof has been known by contractors as "the widow maker" this was no easy task, and these guys made it look easy. I LOVE our new solar system, I believe that it was catered to our home and to our needs specifically. I am more than satisfied with the ongoing electronic and web based monitoring that has been provided to us to ensure that our system is working properly, I would recommend this company from start to finish for all of your solar needs, the other reviews DO NOT IN ANY WAY shape or form demonstrate my experience with this company. Spoke to salesman in May. Spent an hour listening to this guy talk about how great Aztec was and their products. Signed contract and paid deposit first week of June. Then nothing. I was told by salesman that I would receive a call THAT WEEK to get scheduled. After getting promises every week that I would hear from someone by the end of that week, I finally called the office myself. I was told the roof inspectors would be coming July 12th and an install date of August 8th. On June 12th, 2 inspectors came and I told them I work from home so let me know if they needed anything. They had a ladder, looked at roof and left in probably 10 mins max. Because I work from home and have 2 dogs, I called the office after the inspection date to ask if I should take time off work since I am on calls and didn't want loud noise. I was told then that I should because it would be loud. Not only did I take the days off but I had my dogs going to a kennel for a few days as well. NOT ONCE DID ANYONE MENTION THE ROOF AND CANCELLATION OF THE PROJECT!!! Now fast forward to 10 days before installation date. I get a notification from my credit card company that my deposit was sent back to me from Aztec. So being confused with this, I called the office since I had never heard anything. The response was "Oh your salesman (Mark Lillie) never contacted you?" I said obviously not. I was then informed they could not do the solar because of our tile roof. I was so mad. Here we started this process in May and I find out from a notification from my credit card company of my deposit returned that the project has been cancelled. I would have NEVER known ahead of time unless I saw that prior. I then called the owner of the company who did contact me back but never apologized and just said they would do it if I hired a roofer after? Really? No thanks! I'd MUCH rather take my business to a company that has better customer service then this company. Do yourself a favor and research this company prior to signing with them. Communication is HORRIBLE! I'm writing this review for my grandparents since they don't have yelp. They wanted to acknowledge a job well done. Ken was their point of contact leading up to the installation. My grandparents felt that Ken was trustworthy and easy to talk to. He didn't pressure them into making a decision they weren't comfortable with. They are now able to power the house and heat the pool at a fraction of the cost. More importantly, they're helping the environment. They had an easy time scheduling the installation with the office. They didn't have to wait months for somebody to come out. The installers that came to the house were professional and quick. If I were in the Sacramento area, I would strongly consider using Aztec to install solar panels at my house. read more

We had Aztec Solar install our system a couple of years ago. For the most part, the system has worked and provided us with the needed relief of our PG&E bills, as promised. A couple of issues have come to light over the last couple of years. Their sales promise that they would know and take care of any issues, before we did, was just that, a sales promise. One must monitor their system daily and alert Aztec as soon as possible with any issues. It takes Aztec 10-15 days to schedule a tech to look into the issue and resolve. There is no priority for their techs to resolve issues with their installed systems. That's 7-15 days that your system is not generating power or on the grid. Our 2 year inverter failed in March of 2020, roughly 2 years old, and it took 7-15 days for them to assess the problem, then find a replacement inverter and get it installed. Their SolarEdge inverter periodically, every 2 weeks or so, stops reporting its production. Aztec's response is that this is a known issue with the SolarEdge inverter, and they currently have no solution for it. They recommend, "Just wait a few days and see if it starts working again". Their staff apparently are not concerned at all about this issue and apparently they don't believe it is covered under our 25 year parts and labor guarantee. I pointed out that I have other friends and neighbors with solar systems and the Solaredge inverter, installed by other companies, and they do not have this issue. Aside from the countless trips he made up to Camino from the Sacramento area, he went to bat for me to get our system installed before the 4th of July holiday (a couple weeks ahead of schedule). He was very though and explained everything perfectly. Additionally, the customer service has been great. The day after the the install, a team came up ASAP to remedy a leak. I know that this review is a bit long but, please read until the end We purchased our home in Roseville in September 2021 and we purchased a pool solar system on 12/21/2021. Since it wasn't swim season they diddn't turn the system on at that time. They said to call them in April or May and they would come out and turn the system on. They came out I believe it was in May and turned the system on and I asked if I could video what he was doing. The reason that I asked is that i'm in my seventies and I have a sleep disorder that effects memory especially tec stuff. That particular day the sun was shining on the display screen so i diddn't get much of the video and for some reson the audio did not recordon my phone. When he finnished I asked how do I shut the system down fot the winter and he said, just do what we did in reverse. He also said, If you have any problems shutting it down just give us a call. At this time I was unaware that the audio diddn't record and the video was useless but, I thought I could give them a call at the end of the season and they would help me, BOY WAS I WRONG. I called Astec at the end of the season and spoke to a very nice lady who answered the phone and I asked if someone could come by (at their comvience) to show me how to shut down the pool for the winter. During our conversation she stated that it would COST ME ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS to send someone by. I said that I bought the system from you and you came out to turn it on but, you won't show me how to turn it off! I explained that I had already drained the roof panels and turned off the valves and turned the solar off on the control panel. All that I needed was someone to tell me how to program the time and the rpm's for the pump. Again she stated that if I wanted someone to come out it would be $100.00 but, thet have a guy named Tony that could walk me through it over the phone if I'm having trouble doing it myself. I was in the car so I said, can I call and ask for Tony in a day or so and she said thats fine. So the next day I called for Tony but, he was not availabile so I left a message and waited a week with no call back. This same senario happened 5 more times over the next six weeks each time with no call back from Tony. On the seventh call I explained the situation the gentleman that answered the phone and he said "thats a service that we sell. We can't give it away for free" .Compleatly frustrated I stewed on it for 4-5 days and called back one more time and a gentleman named Matt who said that he was the project manager so I described the situation to him and he said "oh yea that shouldn't be a problem I'll put a note on Matt's desk and I'll also send him an email and you should hear from him soon" Not even then did I get a call back from Matt. All they had to do was push three buttons on my panel menu, time and speed and for that they wanted $100.00 I don't know this place stays in business with service (or the lack of) such as this I'm in my seventies and I have never posted a negetive review before but, for a company to be so rude to an existing customer I believe is dispicabel. If your in the market for solar products I would STRONGLY incourtage you to spend your hard earned dollars with a company that provides SERVICE after sales. Thats definitely not Aztec Solar.
