Skip this company ... they changed a leaky valve on my solar hot water heater ... asked me to turn on hot water full blast ... we got pipe hammer! Told me to clean shower head ... which I did ... still there. I removed the shower head, still there. They called me back and told me to hire a plumber. They clearly do not know what they are doing. read more

We installed Aztec Solar for our new pool this summer and they were the only Solar company that would take on the challenge of not being able to have prime roof space. We also have solar for electricity which takes up most of our south facing roof so when I spoke to other pool solar companies they turned us down because of the lack of south face space on our roof. Aztec technology not only works with sunlight but also with the heat from the air so if it's over 90-degrees on your roof they can heat the water in your pool. We have 4 panels facing south and 3 north facing and that's enough to heat our medium size pool to the sweet spot during the swim season: 85 degrees. Overall, we are very happy with our Aztec Solar system and everyone we worked with at the company. Brian (sales) was easy to work with and took the time to help us get the most cost and efficient product with the end results we were looking for. Blythe at the office is very accommodating and responsive to our questions and schedule - we were leaving for vacation for 4 weeks and Blythe got our install scheduled in 2 days. Our post sales experience has also been great. We had a problem with on of the pipes on the roof and they came right out and fixed it. I highly recommend Aztec Solar. read more

Very satisfied with their service. Travis came out to inspect my solar heating for our pool. I sensed something wasn't working. At first, it all looked in working order, but Travis dug in deeper and on a hunch, he suspected a bad internal valve not obvious from the outside. Dismantled the valve, replaced the broken internal part, tested the system and all is 100% good. Outstanding service, and Travis is a true expert in his field. read more

Although it took several months to finally install - due to high demand - we are very happy with the end result and customer service leading up. Huong's communication throughout the process was fantastic. She was always pleasant and updates were very accurate. The install process went extremely well. Their staff were all very polite and worked efficiently. The foreman took the necessary time to show how to use system interface and genuinely cared about my comprehension of the details. Highly recommend. We began the process of installing panels last summer. Michelle was awesome at being responsive and answering all of our questions, very knowledgeable, no pressure, competence pricing. She recommended panels made in California which are highly rated and should be more reliable for getting replacement parts if needed. The warranty seems great. Staff who worked on the project Matt & Khae were helpful, professional, and responsive. We ran into difficulties with Pg&e requiring us to upgrade our electrical panels. It took awhile to get it all figured out but Aztec came through with a professional upgrade that impressed the county, top notch electricians who designed the upgraded system, came when they said they would and worked hard to see it through to completion. Then we had to wait for the county to sign off but once they did, Aztec came through with the Pg&e authority to operate within 2 weeks as they promised. We are up and running on the grid. read more

High pressure sale and scam! Went to their web site for their 9-second solar evaluation. Didn't even hit submit because they wanted a phone number (not going to happen)! But they still managed to capture my address and the next day I get a phone call from them (of course they have the wrong person at my address). I told them I wasn't interested and don't call back. The day after the phone call I get a letter in the mail trying to sell me more solar systems. I think, based upon my initial experience, I would never do business with this company. Be careful if you even attempt to contact them, they will hound you in the future! read more

I was looking for one company that could do two things: install solar electric and do pool upgrades. I solicited 6 quotes for this extensive work. Marie came to the house, listened to what my goals were, answered my multiple questions and helped me decide the appropriate equipment for our needs. I started the process in August, 2019 and we just finished the final inspections and instructions. I had a quote on the pool equipment and they matched it with a higher quality product then what I was quoted. Every person I have dealt with has been professional, patient and friendly. There was a problem with the equipment and it was quickly resolved. Every question I have had as been addressed. Very happy with the outcome. read more

My neighbor used Aztec Solar for his pool in March 2011. He was happy with the service and product. I got a bid from Lloyd, the salesman a few weeks ago. He was a nice guy and gave me a bunch of helpful info. However, I decided not to go with Aztec Solar. Instead, I used "Mike the Poolman" from Folsom, and I'm glad I did. What Aztec won't tell you is about the components / control units / pump are the equipment that most likely fails in a solar pool system. All the sales discussions were about the panels, which they exclusively sell. I have learned that the failure on these solar panels is extremely rare. You need to worry more about the pump and control system. When buying a car, would you rather get advice from a car salesman or a car mechanic? Get a bid from Aztec and Sierra Pacific but ALSO get a bid from "Mike the Poolman". I was told from Aztec or Sierra Pacific that those two companies do about 90% of solar pools in Sac region. I can't verify that statement but I do know they do the bulk of the business in Sac. In summary, I know that AZTEC WILL DO A GREAT JOB for solar pool installation. I know my neighbor would recommend them to others. However, I just felt that I got a better value and product with another bid. read more

These people are work extremely hard, and are persistent - in sending you SPAM. Even after repeatedly asking them to stop sending me SPAM, they keep sending me SPAM by emails, postal mail and phone calls. (Did I mention they work EXTREMELY hard?). I also agree with other reviewers that these guys know what they are doing: Their SPAM emails have very nice fonts, and professional graphics. Their unsolicited phone-caller also use pleasant voice, so definitely professionals. They also seems to have some unusual product that I have not heard about from anywhere else: I ALREADY have solar on all of my roof area facing sun, but they keep sending me SPAM about their amazing product that will cut down my bills! Who knew there are products out there that can generate solar energy without sun! read more

Wanted to use a company that did both pool solar and solar PV installation. Had 4 companies come bid and we decided on Aztec. Quote was very competitive. Had 30 panel solar PV system and solar pool system installed. Communication from everyone we interacted with was excellent. All our concerns were addressed prior to install and at the time of install. My husband is very much a neat freak and was very happy with the installation, from the panels to the power inverter mounted on the wall. Would definitely recommend Aztec for solar PV and pool solar. read more

Aztec solar did come out when they said they would. It took a while but they did come out. They managed to reroute some piping and add some other devices in the lines to slow the water. Using the thermal imager all the panels are functioning as they should at a much lower pump speed saving me energy! Bravo! read more

Previously a 1-star, I must say Aztec solar has stepped up their game to 5 stars. Not because of their service, sales or price, but because of the after-installation issue I had.. We were sold on a new variable speed Pentair pump, pool solar and the Pentair Sun Touch system that was going to automate the multi-pump operation. Well the pump and solar system are excellent and Aztec was very competitive with pricing. However, I would advise anyone looking at the Sun Touch controller to be sure and get some good training on its use prior to the install team leaving your house. Any changes can wreak havoc on the normal operation if not done correctly, and the Aztec Solar resource just did a great job "re-acquainting" me with its use. Aztec Solar was recommended by another company that didn't service our area. They have been in service for 25 years at the time. They were on time and completed the work in one day. Amazing! I highly recommend Aztec Solar. The very best part is our PG&E bill is about $25 a month even in summer running the AC, before it was nearly $400. Needless to say, we are very happy. read more

We had a horrible experience with Aztec solar. First of all the employee sent to our home was extremely rude to my wife during our service call saying that our pool solar is out dated (less than 2 yrs old) and all he could do for our dinosaur of a system was to give a bid on total replacement. After contacting our pool solar company with locations in Nor Cal & So Cal apparently they are actually still in business. Horrible experience, rude staff & lie to get business. read more

We weren't super happy with Aztec. They replaced our pump to a variable speed one, and our timer with a super confusing one. We still don't know how to use the timer. We don't know how to calculate the proper run time and/or at what speeds. There was a valve installed incorrectly at first that caused major air to run through the pipes. Our return jets in the pool resembled a spa. They said "that's normal, the air will leave the system after a few mins" but hours later it was still pumping out air. I don't know much about pools but I knew it wasn't right. When I called the office and spoke to the receptionist she literally laughed when I explained what was going on. They came out and moved the valve which helped but when our solar runs, the pump still doesn't prime correctly. There was also a leak on our roof after the install that we still aren't confident they fixed. The biggest problem with all of it is, we had the work done at the very end of the swim season last year so we have had no time to trouble shoot it. We we're left with just draining the system and fingers crossed it works this spring when we turn it back on. read more

I never write reviews but I just had to add one for Aztec as their service was so beyond good. I live on a ranch that is very remote. My pool contractor retired and left the state so when a few of my solar panels started to leak I was at a loss as to where to turn. I called all the listed pool stores and even the commercial pool suppliers but they were either helpless or would only talk to a licensed contractor. My last desperate call went to Aztec Solar where I found the sales manager John. He was so courteous and helpful. Answered all my questions and was able to solve my problem. Lisa was also extremely helpful. You just don't find companies like this anymore. They have me as a faithful customer forever! read more

We could not be happier with Aztec Solar,from the sales representative "Maria" to the installers "Ken". Maria was very informative and friendly. I asked a lot of questions because I had done my research and knew what I needed to hear to proceed. We were very comfortable with all the information we were given. Originally we were just shopping for pool solar and ended up buying solar for the house also. When I had any questions or concerns they would get right back to me. The crews worked clean and were very nice. The whole thing went without a hitch. We would and have recommended Aztec to friends and are completely happy with our purchases. I'll be straight up. This review is not about their service or their product. I solicited a solar quote from them about two years ago and in the process gave them my phone number. BIG MISTAKE. I went with another company however they keep calling me and asking me if I'm still interested in solar despite the fact that each time I politely tell them that I already have solar and ask them to remove my name from their marketing list. I know they are working from an in house list because of the way they start the conversation. I guess it's to much trouble for them to remove my name from their list. So if you want to be continually bothered with phone calls from them then by all means contact them. But if you are like me and detest telemarketing calls then you had better not give them your phone number. read more

I had my solar system installed back in 2016, a little slow but not bad. Seemed professional at the time. I was assured that the system would be monitored and I would be notified if something went wrong. The monitoring is done by SolarEdge, but the alerts at SolarEdge have to be setup by the installers (Aztec Solar), not the end user (me). Somehow the email alerts were not setup by Aztec Solar, and when my solar generation went down for almost 5 months, they blamed me for not monitoring the power generation every week. I heard this user monitoring excuse from two employees when I called in April 2021, but I had never heard it before. When I talked to the CEO ( Ed Murray), and pointed out that I don't even monitor my bank account that often, he still wouldn't take any blame for what had happened. It ended up costing an extra $485 compared to the same time period the year before. Be sure to get their monitoring policy in writing. read more

Our gas line to the pool heater needed replacement, and it seemed like a great time to consider a change. I contacted a number of local solar companies to get information and quotes to have solar pool heating installed this summer Aztec had the best materials, price and customer service. The installation went smoothly, and we now enjoy 90+ degree pool water (our favorite temperature) every day! I give them my strongest recommendation--wish we had done this years ago! read more

Signed a contract 6/11/21 for pool solar installation to start no later than 9/9/21, with a verbal start date of end of Aug, middle of Sept. Site survey was done a month early in July, which I though was a good sign but all down hill from there. I kept being told I might get installation by 9/21 but then was told 9/15 after I complained (to shut me up). I started emailing 9/19, no response. Emailed again 9/21, no response. I doubt they have not even pulled a permit because I am supposed to pay permit fees separately and last time I checked with the city it was a no. They operate under a couple of names so I did email under both known names but radio silence. Interesting how a few people are taken care of and others not. Oh but wait I forgot the team is still working on the design. Update 10/2/21 still waiting, have contacted their Mother Co Signora Solar back east and sent a copy of my contract & it appears they also are ghosting me. Had to take them down to one star now. Very bad business practice. They do not honor a signed contract after providing prove of a competitive estimate from a competitor. Don't trust Aztec Solar. They nullified a signed contract due to an employee over stepping their boundaries. Those internal matters should have been handle internally. While I do not justify any employee over stepping their boundaries/authority, the customer/business should not be jeopardize - especially after a contract has been signed. read more

We purchased a solar heating system from Aztec Solar and had it installed on 3/19. Our pool was situated below a lot of shade trees which are over the deep end of the pool, so each summer our water temp would only get to about 82 - 84 degrees. 10 days after the install, our temp climbed up to 78 degrees, in MARCH!!! We are very confident we will be able to swim in a perfectly warmed pool this summer. The install was completed as promised, and was done in a very professional manner. The heating panels on the roof are very low against the roof making them hard to see from the yard and the techs even painted the riser and return pipes to match my house! The day after the install, Sacramento area received a rain storm. There were absolutely NO LEAKS in the roof from the install. A few days after that storm, we had a high wind day and the panels on the roof stayed exactly where they are with no lifting or twisting. My wife and I were somewhat apprehensive with the purchase, mainly because the only info out there is from product manufacturers and system installers who will tell you the positives about their own products while discounting the competition's product. After less than a month since the install, we're even happier with the purchase than we expected. I would HIGHLY recommend Aztec Solar and their solar heating system to anyone. Rob S.
