Loved this cute little pink gem! Smells good right when you walk in! Friendly fast service! I got the fruit tart and coconut flan, with a cup of chamomile citrus tea, I loved their tea selection. Very different. As for my dessert, fruit tart wasn't overdone on the clear glaze on top, and filling tasted like vanilla pudding! Yum! Horrible experience! I threw a pre-wedding event for my best friend who had mentioned she liked this bakery. I had someone go there to pick up they cake, which they handed to her without ANY packaging. After making her purchase a box, and poorly packaging the cake in the box, the box itself collapsed and the cake fell on the street on the way to the event and was ruined. I would not recommend this place to anyone, very poor customer service. I called to talk to someone about the incident multiple times and no one returned my phone call. Picked up a last minute sheet cake for my son's birthday and they did some basic decorations in just a few minutes... ppl loved it! Yellow cake with dulche de leche filling. Frosting is a real whipped buttercream that is light and fluffy, which is harder to find. Will come back for future cake/pastry needs. read more

I stopped by about a month or so ago a week before my husband's birthday to order a cake. He wanted the Nutella cake (chocolate cake with hazelnut filling). Fortunately I didn't want anything fancy with fondant or any fancy decorations. Please note that during 'wedding season', this bakery is extremely busy and has a long lead time. For a regular cake, a week's notice didn't seem to be a problem. The staff that I encountered here were very nice and helpful. Anyway, I ordered the cake, paid in advance, and came back the following week to pick it up. It was ready at the appointed time and it was very nicely decorated - just what I was hoping for. While the cake was attractive and it sliced very well, I thought the crumb was just too airy - I really prefer a denser crumb in a cake. No matter, it was fresh and did taste good. My main issue with the cake was that there was very little of the hazelnut filling - so little that you I couldn't even taste it (kind of defeated the point of ordering a special filling). I might be inclined to use this bakery again, but I'll probably try some others to see if I can find someone who makes a cake with a denser crumb. read more

Disappointed. In my home state cupcakes are always very moist and flavorful. So when a friend surprised us with cupcakes from this bakery we were not impressed. She ordered us two types of cupcakes, both were bland, dry, and very dense. The red velvet didn't taste like anything at all. The frosting was good, but with the cakes so dry we couldn't eat them. Not sure if we just had a bad batch but I felt bad not being able to finish what she got us. The blueberry bars and coconut macaroons however we're delicious, will stick to their other goods but stay away from the cakes. read more

I booked a cake tasting on their website a week ahead of time and it said it processed. I called to confirm several times but no one ever answers the phone. Day of the tasting I called to confirm and was told they have no record of the reservation and are fully booked up. My 5 year old had been looking forward to it all week and was devastated. Have had quite a few cakes done in the past with Marjorie and was always happy with her. Now she is never there from what it seems and has her brother-from what he said-handling most cake prices and appointments. He was extremely rude to me when I asked about a huge price increase from when I had Marjorie( the owner ) do a cake for me a year ago, he said because they have more bills now and not to expect a similar price just because I was a returning customer. Very disappointed in their customer service. I usually love their cakes, but won't be going back. I ordered cupcakes for Thursday and they accidentally put the date as the following Thursday. When I went to pick them up, of course, they weren't ready and they asked me to wait. I couldn't do that so I had to have my mom pick them up later. Big inconvenience. I would expect some sort of apology or discount but nothing was said. They then called me and asked I if I wanted them decorated, I said no. When my mom brought them to me they had the wrong frosting flavor. So I called them to let them know. The guy said I should have told the girl who called me about the decoration know what I wanted. I said she only asked about decorations. I thought they knew the flavor already. Then he goes on to say that he talked to the guy who took my original order and I gave the wrong date. Whatever happened to the customer is always right. Again, I would expect an apology but he just blamed everything on me. read more

The cake was good looking on the outside but it was not what I ordered. Then the lady tried to tell me that there is butter in the buttercream icing but there is not. It's either whipped shortening or lard. It's pure white. It tasted awful. Oh get this--cream cheese frosting is upcharged to fondant!!!! Was there cream cheese in the cream cheese frosting? We stopped into Azucar tonight to try it out for the first time. We ordered a little bit of everything (no cakes were available) and I was impressed. The chocolate cupcakes were kind of dry, but I loved the berry filling. The Peruvian flan was excellent, as were the almond cookies. We also had a dulche de leche Napoleon...oh my goodness was it good. There is nothing better than homemade caramel. Awesome, awesome cake and services. Daniello greeted us in the shop during an open house. We had been looking at other shops for our wedding, but immediately were so impressed with his service and attention to us in the store. We tried multiple flavors and loved the "Dulce de Leche" cake. We chose a three layered cake for the wedding with Indian designs on the outside. My wife is Indian and loved how close the design work was to actual Indian henna designs. Our wedding guests raved about how cool the design on the cake was and when they tasted it they were amazed at the quality of the cake. I picked up my cake today for my daughters birthday and was not happy at all with the appearance of the cake. I talked to a man at the store and provided pictures of what I was wanting. The cake I received did not look like anything I had described. The cake looked like it was in the middle of being worked on, not complete. The taste of the cake was okay. It's hard to even give her one star. I find it funny how she considers herself a Righteous person when she made me the wrong wedding cake and refused to do anything about it. When I showed her the pictures of the cake versus what we drew up in our contract, she told me my guests ate it and there was nothing she could do. After protesting how it was my WEDDING and I couldn't send it back at the time of event, she went in the back and shut the door on me and refused to talk to me. After tasting the chocolate cake with the mousse filling nothing will ever be as good. I called on a Monday morning about picking up a cake on Friday for a first communion. Monday afternoon I found out that there would be a reception at the church afterwards so monday night I cancelled the cake. When I called tuesday morning they said that they would not credit my credit card unless I came into the store. They said it was their policy that I would have to accept a credit instead of a refund. I said I had ordered the cake over the phone and shouldn't have to come to the store to get a credit. They posted to my credit card after I cancelled. Bad form! read more

I've ordered two birthday cakes from here and had good and ok experiences. My daughter liked a photo they had on their website of a cake with a big owl on it. None of the photos is labeled so there's no way of referencing a particular photo. When I then was placing the online order, I eventually had the option of uploading a photo. Suddenly the photo we liked was gone, but when I described the cake on the order form, they were able to make something kind of similar. A few months later I ordered a cake for my son's birthday. This will be the last time we order from here. Communication and organization are just not their strong suits, and it makes for a kind of stressful - and very expensive - experience. I was able to upload the photo of the cake he liked, and the one we picked up looked exactly right. However, I ordered buttercream frosting, but they used whipped instead with no explanation. I paid $40 online for their 8" cake, but had to pay an additional $30 when I went to pick up the cake. They said it was because of the type of decorations which I could maybe understand if they had asked me first, but they didn't. The cashier read the note on the order that said, "Called, no answer. Called, no answer." There is no call from them in my calls list, and no one left a voice mail or texted or e-mailed. The nutella filling tastes like it might have some nutella in it, but it's not very flavorful. Overall, the cake's ok tasting, most definitely not worth $70. read more

I would live to give this place 5, my experience today was horrific! I have been coming to Azucar since you opened, a loyal customer purchasing 8-10 cakes a year for many years. I always take cards from the bakery to pass out to guests because they always ask where I got the cake. I came in to order a cake today and was told to come back on Monday! I spent 30 mintues attempting to get to the store! I asked to speak with the owner who knows me well and has always been helpful. I could see she was there and was told she was too busy to speak with anyone. This employee didn't ask her if she wanted to speak to me he simply said no. He asked what I needed and I told him that I needed to order a cake, he didn't offer to take my order. As I was leaving very displeased I heard him say "you are welcome" under his breath in a very snotty tone. I am very disappointed and hope that this bakery hasn't become to big to remember their loyal clients an I certainly hope that Marjorie can hire staff that can provide customer service. I know this man has worked for her for years as I recognize him. read more
