Not at all what I was expecting. All I can say is disappointed. Didn't like chilaquiles presentation was ok. Food not so great!!

My breakfast was bad, i asked for scrambled eggs and they brought dry eggs very yellow that seem to be sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. The biscuit was terrible, im sure it was frozen and not fresh. The top of the biscuit was kind of sweaty. My plate came with sausage links very cold and to make it seem like they were giving me two pieces they cut the link in half the long way. Pancakes were very dry and not tasteful at all. Also tried to ask for a cup of plain hot water so I can warm my baby's milk, to my surprise, they charge for a cup of hot water, unheard of! I will never come back again. When you arrive to this restaurant 1 hr and 30 minutes before closing, you wait for 15 minutes in line to be seated, then hostess asks how many in our group (6), and says "The kitchen is closed", why freakin ask how many and why do you close kitchen 1 hour before closing when you have people already waiting. Close your freakin doors and no one will get in line thinking they will be served. Will never recommend this place you have no consideration for your customers. read more

We found this restaurant on yelp. Once I opened up their page to learn more and saw those beignets, I knew I wanted to try them! When went on a Monday morning before my conference, and it was a ghost town. At first I wasn't sure if they were open. Eventually someone realized we were there and sat us at a table and gave us menus and coffee. The beignets are just as advertised. Delicious and warm, with two sauces to dip into. I would have been happy with just those! =P We did order eggs benedicts as well - my husband ordered the Tradicional Benedict, and I ordered the Lobster Benedict . The portions were more than generous! I felt horribly wasteful... but they were to big to finish. I had never had a lobster version of eggs Benedict before and was feeling adventurous, so that's why I tried it. It was okay... but the tradicional was better. This definitely must be a place for locals. We didn't realize how out of the way it was from the conference/downtown area. read more

HORRIFIC!!! Go here if you want to be treated as a second class citizen. The food was average at best but the customer service was incredibly RUDE, inhospitable and disrespectful! We were asked to leave the restaurant!!! I've NEVER experienced this and I was very humiliated. The said owner, Jose Cruz, said we were there for three hours and he had other customers waiting for a table. Our total bill was over $65 and our total time there was less than 2 hours. I'm uncertain if the waiter was the owner as he claimed, but you don't bite the hand that feeds you. Restrooms were dirty and stall door was not in working order in the ladies restroom. Great food, and fantastic service. Had the Mexican potato skins and the fried chicken sandwich. And even though we just finished eating, I cannot wait to have that chicken sandwich again. I was torn between giving this place 4 and 5 stars, but i decided to bump it up. The decor is pretty simple, although the outside of the restaurant has a strong blue/azul theme. It had piqued my interest before, and I finally had the chance to come here when some friends suggested meeting up in Pilsen. The service was outstanding. We had made a reservation, and were seated quickly by a smiling waitress. Service throughout our meal was quick and friendly. No complaints there. We ordered the smoked salmon benedict and the special french toast (see picture for description), both of which were delicious. There were also unlimited refills for coffee, which was nice. The bathroom was clean too. My only complaint is that they wouldn't allow splitting the bill with more than one credit/debit card. In the end, I debated whether this is enough to knock it down to 4 stars but I don't think it is. Fantastic overall, would highly recommend. read more

This is hands down my favorite brunch spot in Pilsen (sorry Dusek's), and if you haven't been here, you need to prioritize this place ASAP. My favorite things on the menu is their chilaquiles, but the rest of the menu is also soooo good (shout out to their huevos rancheros). They are also BYOB, so bring a bottle of bubbly (Amador liquors is just done the street), and they will provide the flutes and a carafe of freshly squeezed OJ for a bomb mimosa. They also serve intelligentsia coffee with unlimited refills, so that's another plus. Finally, the wait staff is so friendly, the service is so fast, and the food is out of this world good. We came here for brunch over the weekend. The Mexican scrambled eggs in potato skins were somewhat tasteless, despite the pico de gallo and the jalapeno in the eggs. Not sure how that was even possible. The steak and eggs was also good, if cooked warmer than requested. The chimichurri sauce was very flavorful and the crispy potatoes were extremely good. The one big negative was the terrible service. Our waitress who completely disappeared throughout brunch. Not once did she offer to refill our drinks nor did she even check on us. Disappointed with the service AND the food. The food wait was way too long, and the food was mediocre, perhaps if it was very yummy I would still go back. My little fam bam ordered a kids pancake (comes with juice) with a side of sausage for my son, a Pilsen waffle for me (strawberries, bananas, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate drizzle), huevos rancheros for the hubby, and an oatmeal and bananas so we could get to eating asap. The waffle was okay, honestly I've had better (at Cornerstone on Western/Elston, at IHOP on Diversey), my son's pancake and sausage was fine- he didn't complain, and my hubby's huevos rancheros were a little under seasoned but okay. We paid $40 for a meal we waited close to 50 min for, when there was no big crowd, and that's just not okay with me. I will stick to my favorite, Cornerstone (seriously try the Delightful crepes with Nutella, strawberries, bananas and walnuts), or will accept my aunt's Mexican homemade cooking for free. I was there Iast Sunday at 10am (Palm Sunday) and there was no wait, so I went in with my son as my hubby parked and we were seated quickly. (Parking is hard.) The hostess was welcoming, and served us water. The waiter came after 15 min, and so we ordered. Our drinks and my coffee came about 10 min later. 15 more min passed and the oatmeal we wanted first wasn't done yet, bummer. Quickly I noticed that the two gentlemen seated next to us, who arrived 10 min after my hubby and I ordered were being served their brunch; now I was lit. I asked the server if the oatmeal was coming up and 5 min later he came back with it. By now we had been waiting for about 40 min and my son was asking me for his pancake. Sure there's fancy Dusek's across the street, but sometimes you don't want the frills, and a cheap (but good) coffee and eggs is just what you're looking for. The chilaquiles and Mexican scrambler are boss. The rest of the menu looks great, but I haven't been able to stray from the old standbys. To top it off, you can get brunch for two at under $25. YES! The only reason this isn't five stars is because the waiters could be a little more attentive. They always seem super stressed and hurried. I wished I could have given this place a higher score, but the service was not worthy. My friend and I awaited outside Azul18 for about 20 minutes for a space inside ( I understand it was busy during brunch time on a Sunday ). When we finally made it inside, we had to wait for 7 minutes to be acknowledged and to be given menus. Immediately, upon reciving the menus we order our drinks ( coffee and tea). While we looked over the menus, a man and his children, whom had been waiting outisde, too, were brought in, seated, and given menus, immediately. (My friend and I just looked at each other with incredulous looks on our faces) After about 5 minutes, a server, whom seemed less than happy to be there, took our order (around 11:55am) while, as she stated, "[our] drinks were prepared." It took another 5 minutes to get our drinks ( Sarcasm: how long does it take to pour hot water on a cup and side it with a tea bag and pour prepared coffee on a mug?) While my friend and I conversed and drank, people kept leaving and coming in. Our conversation extended, just like our wait; meanwhile, the man and his children, whom, allow me to remind you, came in after us, had their orders taken and brought to them. (Again, my friend and I exchanged incredulous looks ) At around 12:20pm, a group of friends sat next to us, and they, too, were attended to, almost, immediately. The server, did not check in on us, nor let us know the status of our order. I finally asked about our order, when the group's order was taken. The server, very dryly, acknowledged us and checked in on our order, she came back and stated that it'll be ready soon. We finally received our food at 12:32pm. I had the Florentine Benedict eggs, which were very good, but I could still not understand how it took about 30 minutes to prepare such a dish? My friend asked another server for coffee, while eating, since our server didn't check in on us. Halfway through our meals, the group's food, whom were sitting next to us, had their food served, and the man and his children had finished their food, paid, and we're getting ready to leave. We finally left at about 12:46pm, with a sweet taste from the LONG AWAITED food and a sour feeling from the incredulous, terrible service we recieved. I had to order half the menu because everything sounded so good and I am so glad I did. I tried the beignets (amazing) and the chocolate crepes which were also amazing. We also had the fruit plate that comes in a hollowed out grapefruit with yogurt and granola. My sister got the sandwich waffles that were so good she over stuffed her self and darn near passed out in the booth. I will be coming back here and telling everyone I know. Ordered Bignets ( they were cold ) both of us had omelets ( they were hard and tasteless ) Biscuit was like rubber. two pieces of bacon were good but paper thin. Supposed to get two sausages, hold on to your seat. They cooked one sausage and cut it the long way ( thats two right ? ). Coffee I had and Hot Chocolate my friend had both excellent. Over all unfortunately I would not go back everything could have been a mistake everyone has a bad day but cutting a tiny breakfast sausage in half and calling it two that was too much. I'm a bruncher. I like great food and at Azul 18, good food a nice bottle of bubbly (it's byob), and awesome service. If I have folks in town to visit, it's my go-to spot. Anyhow, celebrated my 31st birthday here on Sunday with friends. It met all my expectations as it pertains to the food, and the host/server was just as delightful as can be! Definitely get an order of the House Pancakes (the salted caramel sauce and carmelized banana on top is to live for!!). And the chilaquiles = foodgasm. Spacious and clean, friendly service albeit a little slow for the amt of ppl there. The spicy omelette was delicious! Abundant and crispy pork belly with radish and cilantro, which worked well. I payed $50 for two steak Benedict's and some waffles. The steak was so burnt. It felt like I was licking the side of the grill and it was also like 2 oz (combined!). The waffle was pitiful. I think I made something like that in 4th grade. Now I know why they're looking for a new cook. Whoever is back there is just dishing out whatever they feel like at the time.
