I forgot the name of this place. I would've put this on here a long time ago. I'm assuming I was at the Santa Ana location however I did go to another one so as far as I'm concerned, they're the same they tested my eyes my right eye needed glasses. I understand that my left eye, however They kept modifying the eyeglass machine, and I still couldn't see clearly I said is there anything else wrong with my eye why can't I see this and they're like well you've got a little bit of a cataract and they didn't mention anything about it other than that so I buy my second pair of $500 glasses And they don't even put a corrective lens in the left side so I'm trying to figure out why I'm getting dizzy while driving so I go back and the guy is like oh yeah we didn't put the corrective lens on that side because you can't see through your left eye anyway I'm like I can see. Can you balance it out at least put the same prescription oh sure so they did that however, they never put it in the eye test machine to test my vision so now I get my rebuilt pair of $500 glasses and now I'm trying to figure out why I see double in my left eye because they copied the stigmatism correction in the left eye which I did not need so I'm not going back to these people I'm diabetic so my eye care is somewhat paid for with the Insurance so I went to Eye Associates of Orange County and there I learned I had very bad cataracts in my left eye and it was actually causing the stigmatism in my right eye with the double vision so I got cataract surgery and I got the light adjustable lenses and I have gone through my first adjustment treatment last week and I'm seeing excellent no more $500 glasses for me read more

My experience at Azul Vision Monrovia was extremely disappointing. My ophthalmologist wanted me to see a specialist, but the care that I received was far from satisfactory. When the doctor entered the room, she did not introduce herself or make any effort to engage with me. Instead, she focus solely on my chart, only asking a few brief questions before examining my eyes. When I attempted to explain why I was there, she remained dismissive, and rude, stating, 'I don't see anything". To clarify my concerns, I showed her a picture I had on my phone of my eye and the ulcer or sun damage going onto the cornea, which she attributed to a glare from the lens. Throughout the appointment, I felt that she was not truly listening or interested in my situation. It wasn't until I ask that she finally revealed her identity as a doctor. After this unsatisfactory consultation, I requested to see a specialist. They reluctantly scheduled an appointment for me. The day of the appointment after I had taken off work early I received a phone call 45 minutes before my appointment canceling it. I missed the phone call as I was getting ready to leave for my appointment. The message that they left was your appointments canceled. Will reschedule you for next Tuesday. Despite having confirmed my original appointment twice. Since then I've heard nothing more from them. Overall, my experience at Azul Vision was horrible, unprofessional and it has left me feeling frustrated and dismissed. My eye has still not been taken care of and now I will need to get approval to go somewhere else. read more

I was referred to Azul Vision by my primary physician. I came originally to make sure my vision is still good ten years after my lasik surgery and, more importantly, the health of my eyes. Azul Vision is just as crowded as my original ophthalmology office. I don't understand why these eye medical offices are so crowded every time I go for a checkup. I waited almost two months, even with an appointment for my eye examination, and about a month for my vision check. It was performed by two separate doctors. My eye exam was with an ophthalmologist, while my vision check was done by an optometrist. To make a long story short, my vision has changed again, and I would need to wear glasses at nights. The health of my eyes, I'm happy to say, is still good. No issues, thank goodness. The care here is fine. The doctors are very thorough checking the ins-and-outs of my precious vision. They're very knowledgeable and always able to answer any questions. Given the fact that they're so busy, they'll spend approximately 20 minutes with each patient. But I wish it could be longer so they won't be in such a rush. The possible reason is they're overbooked every day with appointments. Or some patients may need to spend more time with the docs. Anyhow, it's not my call about their appointment over bookings. But it's not a good thing, especially if you are in a time crunch. The few times I've been here, even with an appointment, I still waited about an hour in the lobby. So what good is an appointment?! They are well staffed. But they need to see fewer patients per day. I hope the doctors are not too burned out. If you are seeking an up close and personal doctor's visit, good luck! You might feel like cattle instead, in a production line. I'm just saying. Also, parking in the medical parking is not free. Park on the streets and save a few bucks. A four stars experience, but waiting an hour, even with an appointment, is disappointing. read more

Dr Sylvia Chang M.D. is a poor Dr with no communication skills I went for a follow-up check and was given poor explanation of exam given. I received a printed report from the office staff member upon my request and the details written by Dr Chang claiming Dr Chang gave me a detailed discussion of what was found and recommendations is NOT TRUE she didn't explain anything she was short and crude I'm not seeing her again and feel I need to see an other Dr regarding my eyes as I don't trust this Dr .because work ethics. read more

Absolutely worse customer service possible. My Opthamalogist contracted with Azul and since they have, the customer service has been pathetic. I occasionally get serious eye infections which my eye doctor has requested I get in to see him immediately. Four days have gone by and I have been unable to do so. Every time I contact Azul I am sent to a line at my doctor's office where they don't pick up. Might have to change health care providers, but Azul stinks. read more

I came here with a family member for their eye treatments. In the end, I don't think anything bad happened to my family member, but I highly recommend coming here with your elderly family members to ensure mistakes aren't made and they are treated nicely. There is a gated parking lot that requires payment. There isn't a parking attendant and one machine that services the lot. So when there's an issue, a line forms. When we made Appointments, the next available Appointments were 2 months out. Though we had Appointments, there was a wait for every single one. The waits ranged from 15 min to 60 min. While we waited, we can hear the service in the glasses area where Helen yells to a patient, "You're not going to get wonder woman eyes" and all the other staff laugh. For patients who are hard of hearing, the staff will repeat themselves over and over again. However, they need to speak more slowly instead. In the case of my family member, the Appointments consisted of getting preparation by a nurse or assistant. Then the treatment by the doctor. The nurse/assistant prepared the wrong eye. We told her right away. And this is why it's so important I came to all of my family member's Appointments, to make sure the staff is doing things correctly. The nurse/assistant apologized and Prepped the correct eye. She didn't tell us what drops were used in the prep so I needed to ask what they were to know if there's any precautions my family member needed to take due to her working on the wrong side. At subsequent Appointments, she put a green sticker to label the eye that has being treated to minimize the mistake of working on the wrong eye. I don't know if this is a new improvement implemented due to her previous mistake or if it's something required that isn't always completed. As someone who works in Healthcare myself, wrong site medical errors are a huge deal and processes are required every time to prevent them from happening. After all of the procedures, the doctor looks at the eye and evaluates their own work. My conclusion is to come with anyone you care about especially if they are elderly or aren't fully fluent in English. Pay attention to how your loved one is treated and go into the treatment rooms with them. Plan for the Appointments to take hours. read more

None given, I had to call and ask for the referral. Got the MRI done and was told Azul would get results within 5 business days. Waited two weeks then called Azul to be told that they haven't received it yet. Staff said they will check. Waited another two weeks still NOTHING. Follow up on your patients!!! read more

Wasted my time because I had my own optometrist that pinpointed the issue I had already, that was the reason for the referral to the specialist. The billing center for Azul Vision keeps asking for past charges in 2021,2022,2023. The front desk asking for a different balance from mail request. I paid them and they kept requesting more money. I was unable to talk with anyone or any response when I emailed them. I contacted the health insurance which they advised me not to pay them. They tried to call them without any response. I went to have cataract surgery. Do not go there. The whole experience has been a nightmare. On Friday night at 7;00 pm before surgery on Monday I get a call telling me i needed to spend $4,000 more (already spending $7,000) to get the proper surgery and if I don't the doctor may not do the surgery. There is a reason why this place has a two stars rating. It begins at the front desk. The receptionist ITZELis rude, uncaring and authoritative. She speaks to you in a demeaning tone, without any care or concern about your particular plight. If you're late she announces loudly how late you are so everyone in the waiting room can hear it. Then, in a pompous tone she lets you know that you may not be seen and to sit and wait. Never bothering to inquire as to the potential reason for one's delay. This place needs to do better. This woman has zero people's skills. She's more worried about "PROTOCOL" than the patient's well being. That's why I gave them one star. read more

I ran into a problem at this practice after the wrong prescription was sent to my pharmacy. Although they later resent the correct prescription, the wrong medication cost me $100. I asked that the practice do the right thing and reimburse me for their mistake. However, 90 days later, after three letters (two lost), ten phone calls, and one in-person meeting with the Montebello office manager, I received nothing but false promises that they would provide an answer. I finally wrote a letter (certified mail) to Azul Vision's Chief Medical Officer, asking for help. Two weeks later, it became apparent that he also intended to ignore me. What makes this worse is that I've been a patient at this practice for 30 years. The previous owner-doctor was wonderful. Azul Vision now seems to be run by people who simply don't care how patients are treated. read more

I tried to get other cataract specialists but my insurance insisted on funneling me to Azul. I was quite worried reading the reviews here. I guess things have changed. I didn't find the wait times any worse than any other physician's office. The staff were friendly and competent. Two people to note. My cataract surgeon, Joni Lu. And surgical coordinator, Jessica Granados. They both show superhuman ability to treat every patient like they're the only patient that day and keep this standard of care every day. Jessica addressed every one of my questions and concerns, promptly. Dr. Lu explained, very well, every complicated process for a layperson to understand. She even gave me information for my retinal and dry eyes issues. She operated on both my eyes - painless during surgery and recovery. I'm not sure the name of the Lady who worked here (saw another complaint, it might be Itzel.. ), but she had long black hair, black glasses, had a rbf, mid or late 30s. I took my grandmother to see the eye doctor and I was asked to come into one room with her and the eye doctor thought I was able to translate for her. Unfortunately I am not the best nor extremely fluent in speaking Cantonese and she seemed to be flustered and tried to find someone who was able to translate to her. (The eye doctor only spoke english and mandarin). Then the Lady (who i was referring to at the beginning of this review), comes by the room, looks at me and says "You DON'T know how to speak cantonese?.." I responded no, she sighed, rolled her eyes at me, then walked off. It caught me off guard how unexpectedly rude this person was and I realized from the beginning she was nasty; always responding grumpily, even the simple task of calling in patients seemed to be too much hard work for her. I understand working there sucks or maybe you're having a bad morning, but it could have been a simple "That's alright, we'll have another doctor come in to translate." (Which, another doctor Was able to come in to translate Just fine! It was so easy..) But she was so bitter to be working at the job that SHE signed up for.. The vision in my left eye after the cataract surgery is very bad. Took my RX to a location where my daughter goes and is very happy with. However, the RX the primary eye doc gave me to get new glasses was incomplete. My daughters doctor called me the next day saying the doctor (the main doctor) did not complete the RX. It was a 3-day holiday. Two days later they got a return call from my eye doc, and she apologized and sent them a completed RX. Got my new glasses but my left eye (the one I had the recent cataract surgery) was not clear, very blurry. I decided to get another eye exam by the doctor where I got the new glasses. The blurry eye is the one I have a lazy eye (since birth), yet the primary doctor seemed surprised to see I have a lazy eye. I was shocked that she didn't know I had a lazy eye. The new doctor reexamined my eyes. Said the doctor who had not completed my RX had reversed the prism (required if you have a lazy eye). Jumping ahead my daughters doctor suggested I see a doctor in San Gabriel, she felt my current doctors had not been doing the proper testing for glaucoma. Love the new doc in San Gabriel but he discovered my left eye has lost vision because my previous doctors were not doing the testing they should. So now I have extremely poor vision in my left eye because of neglect by my current eye doctor group and it is permanent. read more

I made a call to reschedule my appointment, the male scheduler near 925 am put me on hold multiple times for the need of re verify my insurance even though I already obtain an appointment yesterday. I try to provide him my reference number, he did not want to listen. I try to ask him if I can get a better day. He did not want to listen. He just want to put me on hold. after holding multiple times and he ask for my insurance number again. The employee at the Optical Department made a huge error. She billed me with another client's name. I alerted her because she was not paying attention. She simply handed me a copy of the billing statement with another person's name. In addition, she (H.M.) also goofed with the insurance coverage; instead of $300.00, she billed me based on $250.00. On the same day I was billed, I telephoned H.M. to inform her that I wanted to cancel the order. She said she was making adjustments and that I have a credit instead. However, when I checked my credit card account, this employee never cancelled the previous charge made to my account. Sadly, I can never recommend this company, Azul Vision. read more

I need it cataract surgery on both eyes. I went to the doctor on November 2023- I got my referral from my physician and I had my first appt. with azul vision on January 2024 to see one of their dr. After that I need it anothr appt. to see the specialist- took another month. After the specialist I had an appt. for June 2024 to have my eyes measure. After that nobody called me to schedule the surgery. I couldn't see with my left eye at all- I called them, and they schedule my appt. for september. My appt. was at 10 am- they took me in after lunch- Actually they all went to lunch and left me waiting- The dr. did my surgery around 1:30. They called my son at that time to come and pick me up- took him around 1/2 hr to get to the clinic. The second shift of nurses come in- was a nurse - armenian- that come to me every minute and ask me when my son will be there. Was very annoying- When my son arrived she didn't want to take me outside in the welcheer - she ask somebody else to do it. The nurse in charge of the surgery NEVER called me for the surgery on my right eye. The worst service ever. I give them 1 star- and that because I'm a nice person. This happended at the center in Glendale, california. Never choose this clinic again. read more

I have AMD in my right eye. Before I changed my insurance the ophthalmologist would try to treat myAMD problem very seriously. However this place do not care about my eye at all. Two visit within 4 month apart they have done nothing. First visit the doctor measured my eye pressure and told me to come back 4 month later. Second doctor's visit didn't bother to measure my eye pressure. After more than 1 hour of waiting she examined my eyes and sent me home. She only spent 10 minutes with me. I have been attempting to make an appointment with this office for over a week now and I have gotten no response from calling to requesting an appointment online, to texting the number when you call in due to "high volume" and have been unsuccessful. When finally getting through to someone they place you on hold and disconnect. The only reason I have to come to this office is because it's where my insurance is contracted with and from my previous experience working with them whenever any patient is referred to them the experience is always crap! They over schedule the doctors and technicians to get paid more but the quality of care and experience given to all patients is horrendous. I was referred by my optometrist for further testing. I called 3 times and talked to 3 different staff before they could confirm they accepted my insurance. They kept telling me to call my insurance company to confirm, and when I tried to give them the number to call on my behalf, they put me on hold. The receptionists don't say what they're doing when they put me on hold, I got disconnected and had to go through the process multiple times providing my information again and again. Called again today to make an appointment and was on hold for a rep. After getting the message that I was first in the que and waiting for 7 minutes, it was their lunch time and the call was disconnected. Called 2nd time and left a VM. Nearing their closing time after 4 pm and no call back yet, I called again and my insurance was confirmed, but i was told the Dr. I was referred to doesn't take new patients. I would have to see another Dr, who would have to refer me to see her - a roundabout way costing more in time and money. Later the rep said there was a problem with the call and would have to call be back. 5 pm came and there was still no call back. Treatment was unprofessional and my time was not valued. I felt it important to take time to write of my unfortunate and disappointing experience. Will be checking other options. read more

Unlike other optical shops (Target, Walmart), once you commit to a frame and lens and add-ons, there is no cancellation of the order before it is placed by the office for the lens to be cut. My mother referred to Azul by her doctor, she was never seen because they canceled the first appointment, then they canceled the second appointment. The Pasadena office scheduled her with the wrong doctor and canceled within 24 hours before her scheduled appointment. I flew across the country to attend the consultation with her. The fact that they did not realize their mistake until 24 hours before and couldn't accommodate us for the same day despite it being their mistake, and couldn't reschedule us because the schedule wasn't open for 2025 demonstrates their poor management. Their lack of client customer service is revealing about their attention to detail and care for their patients. We will go somewhere else instead of wasting months with this corporate chain of eye doctors and where they are only interested in their profit margin. This year my primary doctor referred me to this clinic thinking it was closer to me. I'm not picking and was open to it. However, this places makes you come back multiple times just for prescription and does not offer comprehensive services. First off you have to pay for parking. They don't validate. I came in primarily to get prescription glasses as I've lost my old pair. Made my usual co-payment no biggie. However, I waited 1 1/2 before being seen by the Optometrist for eye exam. I was then informed that I needed to come back another day (more than one month later) to be seen by another Optometrist just to get a prescription. What?! They can't do all of it at one time?! This has never happened to me when I've gone to other clinics. I came back 1 1/2 month later. I had to pay another co-payment. I waited 1 hour after my appointment to be seen. After the Optometrist gave me my prescription and I was informed that they don't fit for glasses, don't offer glasses and it up to me to go elsewhere to glasses or go to one of other other clinics. I'd asked the receptionist where I should go and if I should call my insurance as this has never happened to me, as my previous eye clinic worked with my insurance and got me everything I needed. The receptionist was not helpful at all, she didnt even look up to answe my questions. She said I have the prescription so it's up to me to do whatever. I'll figure it out on my own without a doubt, but just poor customer service. They don't even try to help direct you when you are asking a simple question!!! It's been a month since I've been trying to get my eye drops. I got into a verbal altercation with th e"office manager" I asked to speak to my doctor instead I got attitude from her. She told me they can't drop everything for me and they have other patients but it doesn't take a month shit my left eye I is swollen and both eyes are red itchy and burning I've also used over the counter drops to help with my medical condition(dry eyes) the office manager has no right to be disrespectful to any patients I just filed a grievance and I have no respect for people who think they can be rude to others. I was told from my insurance company that it will be 14 business days until I can get approved for my medication. I've been without my eye drops for one month. Azul Vision - Left eye is swollen and half shut - Optometrists Near Me - San Gabriel, California

They shared my medical information and personal information with an unknown pharmacy without my approval. My prescription was initially denied by insurance and my regular pharmacist told me to ask my eye doctor for a preapproval. California Eye used a third party to process my pre-approval because their doctors don't have time for that, per the senior technician. They neglected to tell me the third party is also a pharmacy that will also be filling my prescription, causing a ton of confusion with my regular pharmacy and insurance when they tried to fill my prescription as it showed already "filled". I had to track down the mystery pharmacy that filled my prescription from a phone number provided by insurance. When I called California Eye Specialist to complain, the senior technician seemed to think there was no problem, saying I should be happy I got my prescription approved by insurance, that is the pharmacy they use and it's better because they mail out the medication, and hung up on me. What if I did not want to use their pharmacy? You have to be home to sign for the prescription delivery. I'm not even home on weekdays to do that. Nobody asked me if it was okay. It should not have been this difficult. I'm sure other eye doctors could have gotten preapproval for my prescription without sharing my medical and personal information without my permission. I should have known. My referral was to see an ophthalmologist. When I arrived for my appointment, they gave me an medical optometrist. When I inquired why, they said it was the same. California Eye Specialist took extremely good care of me. From the receptionist, to the especially knowledgeable nurse, and extremely great doctor, I was well cared for. Everyone was kind, conscientious, and explained everything thoroughly. I was under Dr. Huang's care and felt like I was in good hands from the first greeting.
