While I was here in this establishment today with my dad, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is decent. It isn't too big nor too small. Parking spots are okay as well. Establishment: I had to bring my dad here today for his follow up appointment. He has been coming to see Dr. Chao for some time, and he really likes this place. My dad said that the doctor was really patient and thorough with explaining all that goes on during a cataract surgery. He said that the doctor also took some time going over other options if he refused to undergo the cataract surgery. Due to the doctor's experience and expertise, my dad decided to go through with the surgery at Concourse Diagnostic and Surgery Center. My dad's surgery went smoothly, and his follow up appointment also went well. Overall, this was an excellent outcome. I would highly recommend Dr. Chao for anyone who is interested in getting cataract surgery. The establishment itself is very clean, neat, tidy, and organized. Dr. Chao office is very nice and tidy. It's located in the allied physician building with a lab and urgent care. They are located in suite B inside. Excellent location as they are near the gold line and have plenty of parking in the back. The security guard at the front was nice and helpful letting us know what time the office is opened and that we could wait in the lobby until they opened. The staff is very nice and helpful to their patients. Very easy to talk to them. The plus was they were able to speak Chinese (Mandarin)to my dad. The technician was efficient and checked his vision, eye pressure (with a tono pen), checking pupils, extra ocular motility (EOM) and getting a complete chief complaint and asked if reading was an issue (which is was not). The one thing I would have checked is confrontational fields, but other than that she did an excellent job. She then proceeded to dilate his pupils and explained to him about the process and the expect his near vision to be blurry due to dilation and to wear sun glasses when outside (due to increased incoming light from pupils being dilated). She performed imaging to check the macula and retina and optic nerve. We then saw Dr. Chao who is a fantastic physician performed a thorough exam and explained to my father about cataract surgery in Chinese, explained what she saw and how bad his cataracts were and asked him specific questions about his vision and discussed the different lens options available and which my father would like to receive. (Standard lens usually set for distance and would require glasses for reading or one can opt for a multifocal lens where you don't need to wear glasses but this type of lens is not covered by insurance and would be out of pocket). Dr. Chao is an ophthalmologist who specializes in Glaucoma (treats patients with high eye pressure which can lead to blindness if left untreated) and is also a cataract surgeon and comprehensive ophthalmologist (sees patients for any eye issues and can refer out to specialists as needed). Then we scheduled a surgery date and will need to see his primary care physician (PCP) for clearance will need to return for a follow up appointment to get his biometry measurements for the lens prior to surgery. This review is for Dr. Chao who has been treating my dad for glaucoma. My dad lives in Northern California right now but still chooses to fly down to Socal every other month just to see Dr. Chao, so that should say a lot. He has nothing but praises for her saying how attentive, informative, responsive, and helpful she has been. We haven't been able to find an ophthalmologist up north that matches the caliber of Dr. Chao (not even close) so that is why my dad still insists on flying to Socal just to see her. My dad's eyes have been stable since being treated here and hopefully that stays the case. Although I have never met Dr. Chao, I feel like if a patient is willing to travel hours just to see this doctor, that speaks volume. My dad trusts her care completely, and as a family, we can't be thankful enough to know that my dad is in good hands. This was my first visit with the office, and I was pretty disappointed. In addition to providing miscommunication and lies, this office doesn't care about wasting your time. When I made an appointment, the receptionist told me the visit would be 1 hr tops. So I made the appointment at 10:45 in addition to another appointment at 11:45 next door with my endocrinologist. I checked in 20 min early and told them about my second appointment. The front desk said they would call me in shortly. There was a walk-in that they told to go to urgent care instead, but he refused. Then, there was another man who was about 30 min late to his appointment. I patiently waited as they were called in before me. I was finally called at 11:05, 20 min past my appointment. In the room, I told the assistant that I let the front know about my other appointment, and asked how long I would be here for. She said 1 to 1.5 hours. At this point, I was already frustrated. She told me I could reschedule. Why in the world would I waste my time and gas to come back again??? I then asked if everyone before me had appointments. She blatantly lied to me and said yes. They literally took a walk in. So I asked her what the purpose of making an appointment was. She continuously apologized, but that wouldn't fix anything. My blood was literally boiling. I literally wasted like 1 hr with driving and waiting. Unbelievable. I told her I was leaving and would be telling my PCP to refer me elsewhere. Don't give appointments to patients if you cannot honor them. It is common sense that appointments should be prioritized and if patients are late to one, they need to wait. read more

I would give more than 5 stars if I could. To me, doctors being professional is the standard because we trust them with our health. It's expected. I went to Dr. Chao because another optometrist said I may have glaucoma. It was a shock because he ran very standard tests. I had to be sure so I went to Dr. Chao. Not only was she professional, but she was very thorough with the different exams. Even when the results showed me eyes were fine, I still had a lot of questions. This is where Dr. Chao (and other good doctors) set themselves apart. She was very patient when answering all of my questions and going really in depth for each one. She provided recommendations but did not try selling me anything. Feeling comfortable and reassured would be an understatement. I wouldn't just highly recommend Dr. Chao. It's been two hours since my LPI (Laser Peripheral Iridotomy) surgery on both of my eyes, and it went without a hitch. The staff and Dr. Diana Chao are very professional and attentive. The office and the rooms are very organized, and the bathroom is clean. Don't forget your mask, prescription lenses/glasses, and sunglasses, as you may need them. Lots of signing off on paperwork as usual. I should have requested the documents via email as I personally dislike filling them out while waiting. Plenty of parking with a security guard. Glad I found IEC, as my previous experience with an ophthalmologist was a negative one. read more

This review is not for Dr. Chao. This is for the front desk receptionist. I was a new patient and I called in for an appointment a day before the appointment day. On the call, I already told the lady my insurance carrier to make sure they are in network. When I got there, the receptionist had me fill out the paperwork and I waited for half an hour, and the receptionist told me that they don't have contract with my insurance carrier. I asked her again since they told me they were in network the day before. I was so pissed because I took half day off to see Doctor and she told me they didn't have contract with my insurance. I left and I called my insurance to verify the next day and my insurance carrier said they are in network. I really think the doctor should fire this receptionist because she doesn't know what she's doing. read more

I have been afflicted with an on-going case of blepharitis in one eye for a number of years, and came to Dr. Chao to see if she would be able to provide a different set of suggestions than what other opthamologists/family doctors/dermatologists had prescribed to me in the past. Dr. chap is such a great doctor I never met , when I went to do my eyeliners tattoo . The lady broke my cornea two weeks ago . It's such a nightmare for me. Painful and hurt a lot , I couldn't open my eyes and see nothing except tearing and pain . I almost thought I would be blind that moment , the urgent care referred me to the Dr . Came into the office for pink eye. I initially was having eye discomfort and my Family Dr referred me to Dr. Chao. Called to schedule appointment and I was actually able to see Dr. same day do to having eye infection. Infection was cleared within the week.
