Fairly stress free treatment. My optometrist referred me to see Dr Jiang due to a horseshoe tear on my retina. After examination, Dr Jiang confirmed the presence of the tear and recommended laser treatment to prevent potential detachment in the future. He informed me treatment can be done right away and asked me to sign the consent form. A couple numbing drops later and he began to laser the torn spot. After about 5 minutes, the treatment was done and it was practically painless. The only sensation I felt was slight pressure on the eyeball from time to time. Everyone on his staff is very attentive and courteous. I like that they texted me in the morning to remind me of my appointment at 4:20 p.m. Unfortunately, all of my notifications were muted. They called at the time of my appointment. Since everyone here is very nice, I felt horrible for missing my appointment. I ended up having to reschedule my appointment, and they were very accommodating. I had my second appointment here in 6 months or so. Staff is nice, Dr. Yi Jiang knows his stuff and easily explains what is going on. Both times I came, it was packed and both times they were running behind. I was called in to get tested on the eye chart, had eyes dilated, and scanned, then back to the waiting room to wait to see Dr. Yi Jiang. First appointment I was there about 3 hours, second appointment over 2 hours. Would I go back? Yes, but I will bring headphones for my phone and expect to be there longer. I went to check my eyes for glaucoma. The service care is good but I have to wait for long time.

I came in for a follow-up appointment and met more front desk staff. They were pleasant and knowledgeable. I appreciate that they respected my declining of eye drops and eye pressure tests, and didn't push it further. I was able to get an itemized invoice emailed to me immediately after the visit, which was a pleasant surprise. They were also easy to work with when it came to insurance referrals and authorizations. Dr. Jiang was as gentle and genuine as last time. Surprisingly, he remembered me and mentioned Yelp. This makes me inclined to believe he's highly receptive to feedback and is even more patient-oriented than I originally thought (a rarity!). If you're looking for an ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal specialist, the search is over because we have Dr. Jiang and his team of medical assistants to save the day. For about a week prior to meeting Dr. Jiang, I was seeing a strange shadow in the upper left corner of my right eye. I wasn't bothered by it at first and thought it would go away, until I started seeing white flashes. I was a bit worried so I went to my primary optometrist, Dr. Lin, who referred me to 3 different retinal specialists. After further research of my own and seeing the glowing reviews on San Gabriel Retina, it was a no brainer. I called on Monday and was able to get a same-day appointment for my abnormal lesion. In the beginning, I honestly felt really scared, anxious, and nervous. However, after speaking with Dr. Jiang, I felt more relieved. Dr. Jiang is very thorough, patient, honest, knowledgeable, and caring. After several examinations and photos of my eye, he explained to my dad and me what the lesion was, what the lesion was doing, the procedures I needed to undergo, and the risks. Even though the procedure requires several appointments and treatments of laser and injections, I knew it needed to be done. I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't scared, but I knew I was in good hands and I could 100% trust Dr. Jiang and his amazing team of medical assistants - especially Run and Richard. I was very fortunate on a sudden request to see Dr. Jiang on what was a black flashing line on the upper part of my eye which lead me to believe I might have another Retina tear but no I did not have one per Dr. Jiang examination with dilation. Well poised, great bedside manner, concise, explained to me in layman language. His staff is super efficient, not a wasted minute. They really impressed me. My first appointment here was on last Friday 6/19/2020. Before arriving to my appointment, Dr. Yi Jang was very very helpful in assisting me on the phone to get my service covered by Medi-Cal before I went to his office. He also told me that I had to be covered with a specific medical group, so I followed his information. Upon arriving to the office, the lady helping me wasn't so friendly, she quickly asked me to fill out a new client paperwork. After I finished filling out my paperwork, I asked to use the bathroom. I had to use the bathroom that was next to the pharmacy. When I came back, I waited another 10 minutes and they called me in to the eye exam room. Really cool room by the way with all the gadgets. So the lady (reception lady) helped me check my eyes with the letters on the wall. I guessed she got called back to the front and Dr. Yi Jiang and his assistant came in. Dr. Jiang was very nice and friendly! The whole time he checked my eyes with the different eye tools; he checked the pressure of my eye, he checked my optic nerves, he checked all areas of the eye, and lastly he took a look at my retina. My dad was having sighting issues and I took him see Dr. Jiang after 2 other doctors couldn't diagnose his condition. After several tests, Dr. Jiang was able to give us recommendations to properly treat my dad's issues. We went to see other eye doctors and were given ambigous diganosis, no one could tell us what was really going on. I went on yelp and found Dr. Jiang's office. Dr. Jiang was a super nice person. He did a very through eye exam and asked a lot of questions about my dad. He immediately knew the potentially causes and guided us to rule out one by one with very clear explanation. Dr. Jiang is a very patient and honest physician. My mother was not feeling well on her left eye.. she had lasik done a while back in 2004 and have been having dry eyes issue for a while. We were in the area and we got lucky with an appointment in such a short wait. I had cataract surgery several years ago. Last Sunday, my Intraocular lens (implanted lens) was totally dislocated into my eye cavity and I had sudden loss of clear vision. I went to San Gabriel Valley Hospital ER and fortunately Dr. Jiang responded to the hospital's request and came to see me since there's no ophthalmologist/ retina specialist on staff. (Most ER do not have ophthalmologist) It was like a miracle Dr Jiang came! Dr Jiang examined me and explained to me in laymans terms of my condition. He's so thorough and patience. He answered all my questions and I felt much better after he examined me. He even wrote a brief summary of his finding and sent it to my regular retina specialist.
