So glad we stopped in here for lunch last Saturday. Yum-my!! We were seated at a booth along the front windows - - I love a good booth. Our server brought out chips and 2 kinds of salsa to start. We added guacamole and wow was that good. Their drink menu had lots of fun tequila drinks but more importantly - - frozen strawberry margaritas!!! Their menu is large with lots of yum sounding options. It took me awhile to narrow down my order - - I couldn't, so I went with a delicious, and filling, chicken enchilada tostada combo. Yes, I cleared my plate. By the end of the meal, I was ready for a nap. Service was super helpful and friendly. Bathroom near the front of the restaurant. Street parking right out front. Just ordered to go meal, and we'll never order from this restaurant again! Steak and shrimp fajitas half corn tortillas and half flour, they couldn't get that right, and the steak and shrimp were so dry and flavorless, over cooked and nasty. What a disappointment! We ordered a side of guacamole and beans as well. Seriously, the salsa tasted like a tin can and had it zero flavor. I don't even think they used real avocado. Nothing looked like the photo on line. First off, I have to say we were Leary about eating at Azul. Not for any other reason except we don't like change. But, we moved here to Waldport and we love Mexican food. So we decided to give it a try. Best thing we ever could have done! The service was absolutely spot on. The restaurant is clean. The food is amazing! Our family has been there four times since we moved here a couple weeks ago. It's that good. My favorite is the shrimp fajita dinner. The people were very nice, but the food did not meet my expectations. The kids burrito was in sauce. The chicken nuggets were caked in grease with very little meat. The beef burrito was a flour tortilla wrapped around beef, no other filling. The sautéed shrimp were plain and flavorless. The place had a lot of regular customers. We went on a Thursday evening recently after reading some decent reviews. The staff/owners are attentive. My margarita was weak, bland, and obviously from a pre-made mix. I had the Mexican shrimp, and the sauce wasn't great or good, and the shrimp was hard and overcooked. The beans and rice we okay and what you expect from a typical Mexican place. My husband had the better fajita combo but it came with a skimpy amount of toppings. If I did eat here again I would stick to a couple of tacos with beans and rice. read more

The service was excellent and the server very friendly and funny. The food was only mediocre. Others in our group of four said their dishes were OK but not great (fish tacos, burrito, enchiladas). My chimichangas were quite bad. They were filled with only chicken. No other sauce, beans or anything. Really odd. And they were not fried to a crispy level as chimichangas should be. This is our second visit to Azul, and we were not disappointed. From the friendly greeting when we first entered, prompt seating, and delicious chips and salsa assistance with our menu by our wonderful waitress and absolutely delicious food to the very last bite. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting Walport.. now to maybe even more important review and that is of the kindness and honesty of people in a small town. We know sooner got back to our campsite when a gentleman in a pick up flagged us down telling us that he was at the restaurant with us and we had left our wallet and the ladies at the restaurant sent him after us to tell us to come back and they had it safe for us. We drove back and our waitress had the wallet with everything intact and very kindly let us know along with a gentleman another lady which I believe were the owner.. we thanked them over and over again and told them how much we appreciated them and how delicious their food and presentation was and that we would certainly be back again! Surprisingly delicious Mexican food! We dropped in for a couple margaritas (the house marg is potent and tasty, although maybe a bit sweet for some tastes), but decided to share a couple things after watching other people's food come out. We got chips & salsa right off (good chips, and the 'hot' salsa was outstanding! The 'mild' salsa is terrible though - skip it). Then we had a cheese crisp. Cheese crisps don't seem hard to make, but we really appreciate it when they're hot, crispy, and have lots of cheese - these were perfect. Last, we split a pork enchilada plate. It was great, especially with a load of their hot salsa poured over it. We didn't try any, but there are a lot of seafood options on the menu. Hailing from AZ, we struggle to find good Mexican food up north. But Azul is a great find in the small town of Waldport! read more

Service was excellent and the people are very friendly. I think they were having an off day on the food. I ordered trio fajitas both the beef and the chicken were overcooked and very dry. The refried beans and rice were what you'd expect. My wife ordered Arroz con Pollo and said it was okay but again the meat was dry and she indicated that really all she could taste was chili powder. It's a really nice, cozy place and a comfortable place for lunch. At this point, next time we're in Waldport, we'll give them another try. read more

AnnaMaria was such a wonderful server for our dinnertime visit. We really had a fun time and felt we were valued as customers. I had the Fajita Burrito (Steak). Meat was absolutely delicious and tender. My wife enjoyed the combo platter w beef taco, beef enchi and pork tamale. She loved all 3. Both of us scarfed excellent chips and salsa before meal along with a wonderful Jalapeño Margarita. We had a large leftovers container which tasted equally good the next day. We looked for Mexican food close to thor's well , Azul is 5 miles from there and reviews seems to be pretty good . The restaurant seemed old and small space but they have maintained it very clean .Like most of the mexican restaurants they had complimentary chips and salsas , salsas were super good . We ordered mixed fajita platter with chicken and shrimp and mix vegetable enchilada . Food came to the table in resonable time , the fajita platter came with 3 corn/flour tortillas and a plate with rice ,beans,sour cream,guacamole and salsa. Chicken was good ,there were only 3 shrimp in the mixed platter .otherwise taste was good . The mix veg enchilada was loaded with only spinach and no other veges but tasted good. Driving thru on a road trip and stopped by right before closing for takeout. We got a carne asada plate and some enchilladas. I wouldn't say this is great Mexican food in general. Perhaps it is for the area but in general no. The carne asada meat was really gross. I can't even tell you what cut it was or anything. It was legit just a hunk of meat that may have been boiled. No sear or grill marks.... It was like a dog steak. My dog enjoyed it but I did not. It came with chips and salsa which was nice and the margaritas were not bad but most likely just a regular bottled mix with tequila. It was our only option at that time so if it's also your only option: lower your expectations. read more

Came here on 8/11/2020 at 1900. Got a table in their outdoor patio so we could see the water. Margaritas were great, in fun flavors. Staff was kind and attentive and friendly. Bathrooms were super clean! I got the shredded beef taco salad and my husband got the number 21! Great food! read more

We are a HUGE foody family and Azul is truly one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants . We visit Waldport 3-6 times a year and it's always a stop for us. The food always is fresh and portions are perfect. The service is ALWAYS top notch. Waldport is super lucky to have such an amazing delicious restaurant in their little town. My meal this past 4th of July weekend was again excellent and very well priced. You can't beat the lunch specials and happy hour deals. read more

We chose this Mexican restaurant because it had more than the usual generic menu items. We both chose seafood burritos. The seafood is shrimp and scallops. Plus bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. On top was cheese, avocado and a big dollop of sour cream. Alongside was seasoned rice and the best frijoles (beans). Everything was delicious. I think the frijoles are made at the restaurant. Returned here today and WOW have the prices gone up. The only thing that's reasonable is the Seniors plate at $7.99. No lunch menu, at least not on this Saturday. Everything else is a bit out of line. Don't know what happened -- no major improvements that I can see. Just higher prices. Off the beaten path but well worth the detour. Authentic Mexican flavors, nicely presented. Excellent attentive service without hovering. Best of all there's a seniors menu. Portion sizes seemed the same, but prices were a little bit lower. Pros: Nice atmosphere Beans are ok Cons: I ordered a bean tostada (no tomatoes) and a chicken taco. The waitress delivered the food to the table and informed me the cook messed up. My taco was filled with beans and the tostada had chicken and tomatoes. Then she looked at me and told me it was fine! Um, it was not fine...but she wouldn't have them fix it. I picked off the tomatoes and ate what I was served. Rude! The rice is not good. I'm assuming they don't need my business. I'm a local and the tourist will keep them in business. read more

The service was top-notch. The atmosphere was friendly and casual. The salsa was an A+ as were the chips. My husband ordered the Taco Salad with beans only and enjoyed it. I ate a small combo plate with a ground beef taco and a cheese enchilada, rice, and beans. The rice was good and authentic. The taco was decent. The enchilada and its sauce were very good. There was nothing wrong with the food or the establishment. I am just VERY particular when it comes to Mexican food, so that's why the three stars. read more
