The ice maker in our Whirlpool fridge stopped working. We tried all of the manufacterer's restart suggestions and nothing worked. So we called B+B amd now we have ice! Our customer had an oven cooktop that wasn't working even though it was brand new and never been used. LG sent out a tech to look at it and saw that mice had gotten into the machine and chewed the wiring harness. And that they would repair it after pest control had dealt with the problem. So I called B&B and they came out. We removed the cooktop from the range and they were able to uncover a mouse nest inside. Right away Bob said that this is huge health risk to the homeowners (Hantavirus). Unfortunately he said that due to the damage caused by the infestation, the oven was essentially dead. So the bad news is, they have to buy a replacement oven. But the good news is that B&B were quick and honest in the evaluation of the damage and potentially saved the homeowners from serious illness or death. Kudos to B&B! read more

Called Bob to fix a washing machine that wouldn't drain. He went over that day and changed it some belts and told me it was draining. This is a rental so I wasn't there. He then requested I send $225 via venmo before he left, which I did. I thought it was strep but appreciated the quick response as this was an urgent matter. Unfortunately, when my tenant got home they reported washing machine still wasn't draining, so Bob didn't fix the problem. I texted Bob right away to ask for more help, no response, called and left a voicemail nothing. He did get back to me a day later and got back over to the house. Seemed to be working for him after that point but couldn't diagnose exactly what was going wrong with the washer machine. I'd hoped for more certainty and I'm simply hoping after all this the problem doesn't arise again. read more

My washer and dryer both started giving me trouble at different times, and I was debating if I should get a brand new set or find out what's wrong with each of them and get them both repaired. Well, thanks to Bob coming out on a Saturday morning, New Year's Eve at that (he offered to come another day but my holiday travels made scheduling difficult) and taking some time examining my machines, he confirmed my thinking that getting a new set makes the most sense if I don't want to "throw away" $400-$500 on parts and labor on old machines just for something else to break. Bob and his partner came out to check on my ailing refrigerator. I spoke with him in the morning and he said he could "squeeze me in" that day. He was at my house an hour later. He quickly examined the refrigerator by feeling the food and touching the top and bottom of the machine. He had a partner with him but said there was nothing for them to grip on the doors so there was no way for them to pull it out and examine the back of the machine. He told me my ice cream was soft, though it was the same consistency it always is. Bob told me there was a major issue with the machine and recommended replacement. He was nice, and spent 20 minutes explaining how a fridge works but I would have preferred more hands-on troubleshooting. I went to a local appliance store and purchased a new machine. I needed to remove the water hookup myself prior to delivery. So that night I tried to move the fridge that I was told would be impossible for 2 appliance repairmen to move. I was worried I would not be able to do it. I rocked the machine and moved it a few inches, then slid it forward myself. Miraculously, the next morning the fridge was working fine. Something was kinked or blocked in a line somewhere. I was able to cancel the new fridge and it's been a month already without any issues. I'm glad the appliance store made me move the fridge myself - otherwise I would have thrown out a functioning fridge. read more

I cannot speak highly enough about B & B appliances. I first met Bob and Bob about a week after knee replacement surgery and my refrigerator stopped working. The Bob's responded the same day I called. They emptied and reloaded my entire refrigerator because I could not. They found and fixed the problem. The refrigerator started working beautifully but, unbelievably, they would not send me a bill until after several weeks of making sure the refrigerator continued to work properly, which it did. I've had them back for various things a couple of times since then. I posted a negtive review of B&B because they misdiagnosed our Bosch dishwasher problem (which another repair service easily fixed), charged us $139 for the call, and failed to provide us with a receipt. After being requested twice for a receipt and/or a refund, they did send a check for the refund. I want to acknowledge that B&B did the right thing here. read more

The good: Bob came on the same day I called for service. He diagnosed the problem accurately and had the replacement part. He worked diligently on what was an unexpectedly challenging repair. The dryer worked fine after he was done. The bad: Bob has an attitude. I explained that the machine is a stacking unit in a closet (tight quarters). He said he could get an assistant and my understanding (in error, as it happened), was that with an assistant the job would be $150~$200. Or I could get the machine out of the closet ahead of time and save money. This I did, with my son's help. Bob asked for and received my help throughout the repair. I'm handy and I was very helpful. Could have done the job himself without my assistance? Maybe, but it would have been much more difficult for him. I even supplied tools so he wouldn't need to go out to his truck. I advised him on the routing of wire harnesses, etc. I probably should have done the job myself; I certainly couldn't get any of my own work done while he was here. "How much do I owe you?" "$238" said Bob. I was shocked. The part he put in goes for about $11 online. I know that part was much more valuable than to me because Bob had it in stock. I appreciate that, and said so. OK: Maybe $40, $50 for the part (an idler pulley). But $200 for 1.5 hours of work with heavy assistance from the customer? And then he took extreme umbrage when I complained about his price. Bob has every right to earn good pay for what he does, but $135/hour seems a bit...excessive! In the end, he knocked $38 off his price and I wrote him a check. Bottom line: A good worker and a sharp operator. read more

Bob is great! He Our 20 yr old GE stove was having trouble holding heat in the oven, but otherwise was in great shape. Bob came out at a convenient time for me within 2 days of my call. He quickly diagnosed it needed a new ignitor, which he replaced. Bob's a joy to chat with as he works, and is an incredible resource for all kinds of information, not just appliance repair. Just a few weeks back our washing machine was failing to eject water in the spin cycle leaving clothes too damp to put in the dryer. So we called B &B who have been providing us with excellent service for nearly 15 years (and we're up in the hills). The best part of working with Bob is his ability to communicate clearly. When something goes sideways we troubleshoot it over the phone. On our end, all we have to do is give Bob the correct model and serial number for the machine in question and he'll tell us straight up front if the machine is too old to be repaired, or if there's a problem getting parts due to supply chain issues etc. Once the parts come in, Bob and Bob arrive promptly at the scheduled time, and with seemingly minimalist precision install the part(s), check equipment performance and were good to go. We paid ~$220 to replace a valve on a leaking washing machine, but the leak continued. After following Bob's recommended troubleshooting for a few days, I called him back to let him know the leak was still happening. He estimated the problem would take another $300 to fix, considering some electrical errors that I described in my first call. He also said that those electrical errors wouldn't be fixed by replacing the valve, meaning the additional $300 was always going to happen even if the new valve stopped the leak. We were never willing to spend more than $500 on fixing the washing machine, so I wish I had gotten the entire picture up front. We could have saved the trouble of paying the couple hundred dollars we did, when our ultimate solution is a new washing machine anyway. I'm rating three-stars because Bob seemed genuinely concerned to fix my problem and I'm sure he could have fixed it if I was willing to spend another couple hundred of dollars. But ultimately I wasted money and am now buying a new machine. read more

He talked me through the problem (about 40 minutes) and came to the conclusion that it would not be worth it for him to come out and repair the appliance - much more economical to just replace it. I called this morning about two problems with my side by side Kitchenaid fridge. Bob called back within minutes and was good about setting up an appointment the same day. Came in the time we agreed on, fixed one problem most inexpensively (closing the refrigerator door so it doesn't pop open) and told me that the expense of fixing the other problem will not be worth it (replacing the broken ice maker in the fifteen-year-old fridge).
