It's been several years since I've last been to this restaurant. My memory includes decent food and mostly rude service. I decided to give it another shot. Mainly because my first choice wasn't open on Sunday anymore. I called ahead to see if there was a wait list. No waiting. Score #1. When we arrived there were several other groups coming in at the same time. Still no waiting and immediate seating. Lisa was our server. Score #2. Lisa was friendly & could not have been more perfect. She took our drink orders and returned almost immediately with them. When we were ready she took our food order. I'm always beyond impressed when a server can take your order without writing anything down. 4 people in our group. Lots of banter while we were ordering. Several special requests. Not one mistake. Not one! How does someone perfect that?! It's a mystery to me. Lisa has it down pat. Lisa is the reason I'll be coming back. I can get decent food anywhere but lately it seems I can't get decent service. I get it. Pandemic, staffing shortages especially in the food service industry, new employees, etc. If I owned a restaurant I'd be trying to steal her away from this restaurant for mine. Keep up the great work Lisa! We appreciate you.

8 ounce prime rib, medium.

Prime rib is back!! Generous portions and cooked to perfection. If you haven't visited the Hitching Post in Portage for a while, it's time to go back. Service & food are great, with soup and salad bar to boot. Overall an excellent stop for your next meal.

This place is great if you just order the things they are good at (bar food and salad bar). I'd say 30% of their menu is quite good!

Good food all around. The staffing was a bit short being it was the lunch hour rush. However you won't find much better in Portage.

Hands down one of the best restaurants ever!…read more The bruschetta was excellent. The salad was tasty. The Reuben left a lasting memory. My friend had the Philly Steak sandwich and said it was the best meal she'd ever eaten. The exterior is absolutely gorgeous with all the flowers. The interior is tastefully decorated and cozy. The service was excellent from the minute we arrived until we departed. I wish so much I lived closer to Neil's!

We needed a place for dinner while we were staying at our rental and drove past this place and…read morethought it looked interesting. Yelp and google gave it pretty decent reviews, so we stopped in. One thing that was cool was last night the patio was reserved for only those who had dogs. It would have been neat to know that ahead of time and we could have brought our dog. Not sure if that's a daily thing or special for Saturday nights. The inside was cool, you can see the historic charm in this place. We got immediate seating, which was really nice. We were told multiple times the kitchen was backed up and we would have to wait about 45 minutes for our food. That was fine. We figured if we ordered an appetizer to go with dinner it would come out earlier. Our friends appetizers came out nearly an hour later. My husband and I each ordered a cup of the French onion soup and we got it 30 minutes after our friends got theirs. Our main courses came out shortly after that. Two of us ordered the chicken masala, one ordered a steak, and I ordered the salmon. All of our food was amazing. My husband said hands down the best meal in a restaurant in 2026. It would have been nice if the restaurant offered us a free dessert or round of drinks for the extremely long wait. Honestly I was about to ask if they even started making our meals when the soups finally came out, because if they hadn't I'd have said forget it. If I'm being honest, I'd have rated our experience lower, because that wait time was awful. But the food was delicious and this surely can't be something that happens regularly, because if it was, this place would have way less 5 star reviews. If I'm in the area again I'd give this place another shot, and hopefully our wait time is much shorter and the food is just as good.

This is my mom's favorite Wisconsin supper club. She raves about it constantly so I finally…read morechecked it out. Loved sitting at the bar so much that we ordered dinner there. They have big leather swivel chairs that are actually comfy. The bar was very lively on a weekday at 4 pm. Watermelon mojito was one of the best I've ever had , followed it up with a great espresso martini. Ordered the fried clams appetizer which was good but many pieces were so small and thin that they seemed pure batter and no clam. The escargo was covered in a mexi-cheese blend that I found strange at first but tastes delicious- just more like Wisconsin escargo then French . They came with delicious crispy bread bites that we soaked up all the extra cheese and juices. Broccoli cheddar soup was the best I've ever had and absolutely loved the steak medallions with onions and dude of sauce . Steak was perfectly cooked. I loved this place and can't wait to come back

The original bar is in the old darker section - more traditional for a supper club.. We stopped there for some old fashions before dinner - they were solid. Service was very good. We ordered our meals after some tough decision making after snacking on their very tasty warm rolls. I tried their special of crabbed stuff shrimp. Five large shrimp that were very good with a baked potato on the side. My wife got the encrusted salmon and was surprised that it was encrusted in a bread crumb cheese mixture. She really enjoyed it. Our friends got the chicken with pasta and the walleye - two thumbs up. We decided to try their ice cream drinks for dessert. One pink squirrel and one brandy Alexander. Both were good but we have had better and bigger versions at other supper clubs. Prices were typical for a supper club - not cheap.
