1. B&B lied through their teeth to me over the phone and told me they did not have my car. I called Cambridge police and they confirmed they did in fact have it. 2. Upon arrival, B&B tried to tell me they'd had my car for over a week, when in actuality they'd had it for 2 days. They tried to charge me over 500$ more. Parked outside my partners apartment building. Tow sign says towing begins at 8pm. I come down at 7:58 pm and find my car is gone and that the tow truck is up the street with said car. Chase after him for another block to tell him I was ready to move my car. He says it's too late and drives off. I start walking back and call my partner to tell him what happened. Later I checked the time of the phone call and it was 8:06 PM. Called the towing company and they quote me $220 for the expense because I was on the outskirts of Cambridge right on the Boston edge and it was a long tow distance. They said they towed my car at 8:06 pm according to the system. So you're telling me, the tow truck driver in the span of 6 minutes, precisely, registered the offense, loaded up my car, drove around the block, hit 2 red lights, and stopped to tell me tough luck ...and my iPhone is just wrong and the phone call wasn't at 8:06pm? It's one thing to leave a spiteful review cause you're upset you were at fault and got towed, it's another thing to follow the rules and have your car taken early to make sure they make money. I was ready to obey the parking rules and they were probably camping there waiting for the millisecond the clock hit 8pm. The woman running the office was at least polite and followed up on my dispute claim but obviously they're not going to admit they're at fault right? It's my word against theirs. This review won't do anything anyways, they've been getting 1 star reviews for 15 years and are still in business. My advice is if you somehow see this review before you get towed in Cambridge, if you see their sign, give yourself an extra 15mins to move your car or just avoid their tow zones at all costs, the grim reaper is more likely to give you a grace period before they will. read more

I would give this company zero stars if I could. My family member had their car towed while we were parked in Porter Square this past weekend. I am not disputing the tow itself, however, the car is an all wheel drive vehicle which is clearly marked on the outside of the car. The driver did not use dollies nor a flatbed but instead towed the car to their lot on its locked tires. While the office staff confirmed with the driver that was how it was towed, the driver repeatedly said it was not all wheel drive. We stayed at the lot and showed the driver when he returned that it was clearly marked on the car. He did not want to answer further questions and in fact stated "I do not talk to females" repeatedly in response to our questions. After being assured by the weekend manager that we could dispute any damages to the car with the manager Paul on Monday, today we were told by Paul that he will not stand behind his workers' statements to us and he has no responsibility for any damage. He indicated we can take him to court. For your own sake, steer clear of this company. read more

I went to visit my girlfriend the other night. She gave me the parking pass and I parked in the correct spot. We did everything right and still to no avail I came out and my car was gone !!!!!! I parked in the Star Market parking lot on McGrath for 10 minutes. I walked my dog over to the border of the property for him to lift his leg. You could hear the tow driver ago "he's off the property, he's off the property" and goes running to his tow truck to try to tow my van. Total predatory towing tactics He did not tow my van, because the national grid guy goes "all he did was leave the van to walk his dog to pee for half a minute" he had no argument. My car was towed at my apartment building in a spot that says "after 11pm permit required" and I have a parking sticker visible on my car. I was told it was towed due to no sticker being on my car, then talked to a dispatcher who was incredibly rude and told me he was "trying to speak in words I would understand" which I took as him speaking dumb to me since I'm a woman. He then called later and said I could pick my car up free of charge. When I went to pick it up today, the manager tried to make me pay for it and told me the dispatcher has no authority to tell me I can pick it up for free and threatened the dispatchers job being taken away from him. The manager was very rude and had an aggressive tone which is scary as a young woman picking her car up alone. B&B illegally towed my car + illegally demanded a cash payment to release it that higher than any other tow company I've ever heard of. I went into the Davis Square 7/11 and couldn't have been in there for more than 4 minutes. By the time I got out the store, the guy had "attached to my car" and was demanding a drop fee. Genuinely confused, I tried to ask a few questions and was met with extreme hostility and physically aggressive behavior. The man refused to identify himself or show me any kind of ID and there was no clear markings on the tow truck. The man clearly had a bad day and was LOVING ruining mine- calling me super classy names while demanding a cash payment for his "work". Multiple witnesses - including someone that lived in a nearby building that called the police and the towing company to report the ridiculous situation (that apparently is a pattern in that particular parking lot). This was clearly a trap- the man made me feel unsafe- and then refused to wait for the police to arrive because he was unwilling to identify himself and was extremely aggressive. The guy working at the 7/11 also clearly had some kind of deal going with the dirty tow man because they seemed to have an established relationship. Not surprising. B&B towed the cars of 4 women with babies after we had purchased drinks from Burger King and were on a short walk. They then demanded we pay their release fee in cash because we were "trespassers". They don't have an ATM so we had to contact friends or spouses to bring us cash. When one woman had to move her car and give our friend a jump in the lot they threatened to tow her again within the lot and charge her for another tow. They called the police and said we were causing a disturbance, a group of moms with infants in strollers, just trying to figure out why we were towed from a business we patronized. Ridiculous. I understand that B & B towing is running 24/7, but I went into the business, therefore I am a customer. No one even wanted to check the cameras to prove I went inside. The third time's the charm: Having been towed three times (each by different companies) in Boston I am getting a nice mix of experiences with the tow truck companies. I was recently towed by B & B towing in Cambridge for a street cleaning violation. By far this was the most positive towing experience, if a towing experience can be any bit positive. Unlike Stanley's in JP or Pat's in Somerville, B & B actually treated me like a real person and even sympathized a little. They were polite and clear on the phone and (at least for my violation) accepted credit card. $90 for the tow also wasn't as bad as what I've paid for the some of the other tows. Upon arrival I was helped in a timely manner and shown to where my car was. They even joked around with me a little since of the tow guys had his tires slashed last Saturday. It must not be an easy life being in the tow business as you are automatically not very popular people but B & B seemed to take this in stride and credit should be given when it is deserved, even to a tow company. When I was eating at a Burger King down the street, a guy from B&B Towing Company came and started asking what car everyone has. He's wearing the shirt from the towing company and there's a towing truck on the parking lot with that name. He says it's because he suspects not every car in the lot belongs to patrons. Now, this was when I JUST got in. I remember seeing about 7-8 cars in the lot and about 7-8 families in the restaurant. Not sure why he thinks there's an illegally parked car. Nevertheless, he went around from customer to customer ASKING WHAT EVERYONE'S CAR WAS. I told him my car make, model, and color. When I got out, HE WAS TOWING MY CAR. So I stopped him and asked why. He said "You weren't in burger king right?" Uhh helloo.... I was like the second person whose car you asked, plus at that time in the parking lot I was carrying a soda cup with Burger King's logo on it. He claimed that he misheard what I said, and apologized, and just moved to the next car. Ok, mishearing is an innocent mistake, but before you actually tow someone's car, shouldn't you at least go back and check that NO ONE IN THE RESTAURANT REALLY HAS THAT CAR? How can you trust yourself to remember 7-8 cars from each patron and therefore pick one that hasn't been mentioned? Do you trust your memory that well? Considering the cost of making a mistake (a legitimate patron would be left without a car and no clue about what happened to the car), shouldn't you at least double-check these things? Not to mention when I caught him red-handed, he was trying to pry my door open. I have no valuable in the car, so I didn't push that issue further, but that just seemed amiss. I just wonder if that's standard practice for a towing company, to pry open the door? I also wonder if it's also a standard practice to go around the restaurant to ask the people (who were in the middle of dinner) about their cars. Granted, Burger King is not exactly an upscale place. But we could all do without that sort of interruptions to our dinner. Note: This happened on 6/28/2017 around 8:30 PM. Go ask the Burger King workers at that time if you want, they'd be able to confirm my story because the guy also pestered the workers about their cars. read more

I have never been treated in such an unprofessional manner as with this company. I was told the tow truck was "2-3 minutes" away. Came 30 minutes later. Normally, that is fine, however I called 911, who called them, as my dog had pushed the lock and locked himself in the car with the heat blasting, and I needed either a window broken or the lock jimmied. After several calls to find out where they were, a man finally arrived, and completely bitched me out, throwing f-bombs back and fourth....example: "Who the hell told you to call us?!" Me: 911 called you. Him: "This is fu**ing ridiculous. A call for a fu**ing dog trapped in a car. We are not fu**ing paramedics!" In an already stressful situation, he definitely stressed me out even more, and made me feel very uncomfortable around him. I see this is not the only time a customer has been spoken to like this, after reading a previous yelp review. I tried to pay by check, then card, and he would only accept cash. Told me he would wait while I drive to a bank if I had to. He said they won't accept a check because it takes $12 to process it. Yeah. Sure it does. Obviously I didn't have a choice on what tow company since the police called them. But if you do have a choice, DO NOT use them! read more

B&B Towing drivers are running a towing racket with Gourmet Express in Porter Square. If you go anywhere before or after buying anything there, someone from B&B will have your car "attached" to their tow truck immediately. I put "attached" in quotes because they will not rig your car to the point where they can actually drive it off the lot. Rather, the tow truck driver will offer a deal where you can either pay him $100 cash on the spot or let him tow it and pay B&B Towing $120 to retrieve it. I paid the guy, and he literally just lowered my car and drove off. It was not actually attached to the truck. And guess what. A tow is actually only supposed to cost $90. http://www2.cambridgema.... I know they run this racket all day long. I have sat over at Tavern In The Square and watched countless saps walk over to get money at the Bank of America ATM so they could pay off the thief driving the B&B Towing truck. The drivers must be kicking back cash to Gourmet Express. I've been in there when the older guy who usually runs the cash register late at night has walked around and asked everyone if their car was currently parked in the parking lot. Look, I know the sign in the parking lot says that parking is for customers only while they are in the store, but that does not excuse the thieving behavior of the B&B Towing drivers and Gourmet Express. Called AAA to have my car towed after it died earlier in the day (suspect a battery issue and didn't want to chance the drive up 95 North during Rush Hour). These guys show up an hour later complaining about driving to my requested garage (a whopping 10 miles away, oh no) and told us to just drive it home, if it dies on the road, call back. I was with a friend on JKF St in Harvard Square in Cambridge. Her car broke down so she called AAA. They told us a tow truck would be there in 30 minutes. 15 minutes later B&B Towing showed up. They were fast, very professional and friendly. They towed the broken down car to my driveway, which is pretty narrow, and were able to put it all the way in the back - its hard enough backing up into my driveway in a regular car let alone a huge tow truck! Im going to put their number in my phone in case I need their help in the future. I definitely recommend them. read more

I was parked several blocks away from my apartment for a couple days and didn't see moving van notices go up, so was towed by B&B. I'll easily go a week without driving my car and had no idea it had been towed, because B&B never got in touch - no mail, no calls. Many days go by, and when I try to find my car, it's gone. Finally figure out B&B has it, and haul out to retrieve it. The man at B&B confirms that no notice ever went out. I asked why, and he said, I guess we just didn't get around to it on Thursday or Friday, and on Saturday we don't sent mail. He shrugged, and I had no choice but to pay over $200 to retrieve my car. This is ILLEGAL. I filed a complaint with the City of Cambridge, and encourage other people who have issues to do the same because I'm guessing I'm not the only one this has happened to. read more

Well, it finally happened. After living the Peoples' Republik for 7 months, I ran afoul of the city's zero-tolerance street cleaning tow policy. To be fair, they run a truck with a loudspeaker up and down the street, indicating which streets are being swept that morning, telling all and sundry that towing is happening. I had moved my motorcycle on Friday, but left it in a sweeper spot Monday, and zim zam zoom. Gone. Well, one phone call to the cops got me B&B, who are open 24/7. I figured they'd have long since been closed at 8 pm, but there they were, and they don't charge for another day until after midnight. So, I went and paid my fee, and they were very nice about it, even sympathetic. They used a proper tow rig, too - some tow jerks will just dump a bike on its side on a flatbed. So none the worse for wear, but unfortunately 90 dollars lighter due to my own stupidity, off I went after a transaction of about 5 minutes. They even offered me a piece of calzone! It could have been a lot worse. read more
