Considering that we had purchased three of the Groupons you would think that they would have maybe fluffed it up a little bit, I thought maybe we would have been tasting our wine while we had our cheese, but we just stood at the counter doing shots of wine which was somewhat tasteless. I get that they don't use extra flavors, but it was pretty nondescript. The view from the back porch was nice however we did need to purchase something to wash down the cheese, and it had to ask for our souvenir glass, which I think possibly if I didn't ask for it they wouldn't have offered. I don't know if I would recommend this place? They were very friendly, and accommodating somewhat. I know I wouldn't waste my money on the Groupon experience.

We were not real hungry so ordered from the appetizer menu. Tomato bisque, smoked trout dip with crackers, Roasted beet salad and a glass of sangria. The tomato basil bisque was absolute "must try" good. The smoked trout was much to salty, maybe just my taste buds. The roasted beet salad was also good with fresh greens and an interesting assortment of almonds. But the beets were not roasted. Fresh beets are full of sugar and when halved or quartered then roasted, the sugar caramelizes and gives a unique flavor to the beets. These beets had no special flavor, they were from a can and quartered. Now the really bad, especially as they are a winery. I like sangria, it's a refreshing cool summer drink, composed of fresh fruit (apples, pears, plums, grapes and a healthy portion of citrus) and wine that is left to marinate. I watched the bartender add some 1/4inch pieces of green apples to a glass, fill with ice cubes and add wine. That is not sangria, that is watered down wine with an apple garnish. I will say that the food at other tables really looked good.

The flowers, the trees, the grapevines, the cottages and houses add to the ambience. Our bride described it as her "Hallmark" movie in real life. Guests and family enjoyed onsite accommodations making time for everyone to be together for the occasion. The onsite cottages and houses were in large part the reason that this venue was chosen. The entire wedding party and families were able to stay together and enjoy the weekend. Guests enjoyed dining at Barrel & Vine, the onsite restaurant and bar. It made it easy for everyone to enjoy the evening. The night before reception was quaint and beautifully staged to welcome everyone. The food from the restaurant and reception was outstanding. From the stuffed pepper appetizer and ham and biscuit to the pasta and chicken dish was delicious. All of the food was fresh and plentiful. The staff managed the crowd well and were professional clearing used plates and utensils off guest tables and replenishing tables. The Vineyard at High Holly reserved the property for the wedding weekend without other guests being on the property. After the presentation brows the shop for all the different flavors they also have T-shirts mugs and other types of alcohol. Use your wristband for $5 off and you can combine the wristbands. The bottles are around $30 so if you have three or four wristbands that saves a lot of money. Also ask for the military discount. Go get you some.!
