I came here to get my car inspected, to make sure it's ready for a road trip, and he took his time explaining the things that he recommended should get fixed now and the things that would eventually need some fixing. Other mechanics probably would've said something along the lines of, "you need to get this and this and this and this and this and this and this replaced now." (Things that probably don't even need fixing yet). But not this mechanic; he is very honest and only recommends what's actually needed, in which case for me, it was only 1 thing. Took my jeep here yesterday because it failed an emissions test. They quickly fixed the problem and were very honest and up front about the charges. He did mention a few other things that I want to keep my eye on, but didn't try to charge me for everything all at once like some other shops do. I don't usually write reviews, but the experience I had at B & G was absolutely awesome. I came in for a second opinion about a water pump that had suddenly leaked. I was told by Pepboys that it needed replacing, along with the timing belt - $800 dollars worth of work. Hugo checked it out and found no sign of a current leak. He said a single, isolated episode of leaking did not necessarily mean continued leaking was imminent. He said it would not be wrong to do the replacement work, but it would also be acceptable to simply monitor the situation: watch for further leakage of antifreeze, keep a close eye on the engine temp gauge, and be sure to carry a container of antifreeze. OMG! When was the last time an auto repair shop told you it was OK to wait and see?!! Hugo spent 15 min showing me exactly what he saw and why it made him come to the conclusions he did. He explained everything so I understood perfectly. I walked out of there with excellent advice on what to watch for, and only $38 poorer. WOW! Eventually, of course, the work will need to be done. But for now, I continue to happily "monitor the situation." Only drawback is finding the shop. It is in the back of the complex, around a couple of corners. Don't give up! May sound like a broken record with everyone else, but I 'ditto' that the place is honest and reliable with affordable prices. Hugo services vehicles for me from a '97 Lexus to a '15 Honda Civic....even though he says the old Lexus is a 'pain' to locate parts. He's provided parts and labor work AND labor-only work when I've found aftermarket parts on my own. Some places don't do this as they rely on marking up parts sold to customers. Hugo even took the time to consult my son on his car, based on pictures exchanged, even though the work was being recommended, and possibly performed, by another mechanic in another city. So no benefit to him. That's going above and beyond in my opinion. Kinda hoping you don't read my review so he doesn't get overwhelmed with clients...but that would be selfish of me. . Plus I want someone like him to grow his business so he'll stay around for years to come. read more

The two times Ive taken my vehicle to get work done here it has come back with other problems, I had work done on my cv joints the first time and when I got the car back my air bag lights were on and they did not come off until Honda replaced the whole airbag. Now I took it and they supposedly only did an evaluation of my vehicle for it over heating and now my power steering is making horrible sounds. In the 7 years I have owned my vehicle it has NEVER had any problems with the power steering!!!! My vehichle over heated, they told me I needed some work on one of my head gaskets which will be a bit of a cost. They said oh if you dont decide to fix it we will buy the car from you for $800-$900 b/c it has other issues, like the power steering is making sounds....."UHM MY POWER STEERING HAS NEVER HAD A FREAKING ISSUE UNTIL YOUR MECHANICS "EVALUATED" MY CAR!!!!" Very knowledgeable about Hondas. Had Hugo do a valve adjustment. Then my 2001 Prelude developed a rod knock, had Hugo install a JDM H22 which required swapping a few components with the USDM engine. I had him replace the timing belt and all the major seals. I lucked out that I got a good used engine but the installation went well and the engine runs strong and smooth, no belt whine or unexplained noises. No oil leaks to speak about either. Very pleased with his service, knowledge base, and customer service. He will speak and explain things to you as long as it takes in between working on cars.
