Front right shock has slight weeping just heads up. MISTAKE #2 9/21 Wed drop off shocks, Me idiot did not get a receipt but took pictures of the shocks. LIE #1 9/26 Mon check status will be done by Fri 9/30 LIE#2 9/30 Fri Drive from Santa Barbara take 15frwy. Instead of 5 frwy it's 2.5 hrs longer to pick up shocks, NOT ready they'll be done Sat 10/1. BTW you need Schrader valves it's 25.00 more per shock, or come and pick them up, whatever I've already lost a over a week, take them somewhere else I go to the back of the line again. Authorize the extra 100.00 that's fine 9/30 cancel razor trip to Big Bear LIE#3 10/1 Sat call throughout the day No answer all day 10/4 Tue Send text "how we doing on the shocks?" no answer to text LIE#4 10/7 call Joey says he's working on them all done except one more, and it's just this F**king customers car he has to get done by Sat 10/8 I listen to his rant and rave, without comment. Joey tells me they'll be done Sat 10/8 Me: No problem thanks I'll call 1st. LIE#5 10/8 Sat Guess what yeah, Not done. New excuse both front shocks were locked up, Hmmm thought they were all done except the last one.? 10/9 Sun Leave a message I really need my shocks back I Have another trip planned this Friday, and I can't cancel it LIE#6 10/10 Mon call 3 x's again, Call back 230pm come and pick up your F**king shocks, nobody ever rebuilds these anyhow, bring cash only or debit card! I injured my hand working on your shocks on Sat, so it's like my fault! Didn't you have to finish a guys buggy by Sat? LIE#7 10/11 Tue Pick up shocks note, no hand injury, now instead of 140 or 165 per shock it's 220.00 per shock. The spring height is off a bit no biggy he goes to the back shop to get spring compressor you can hear him cursing sh*t, F**king sh*t., Tells me while there he only takes debit or cash as he has to pay 13% for CC transactions.... Yeah just another Lie, tell him he's getting ripped off then as I've never paid more than 3%. I own 2 businesses. Says it's AMEX whatever just another Lie. Originally quoted 560.00. I paid 880.00. Why... I'm done with this guy every phone call was another lie and another delay or they aren't done. LIE#8 1014 Fri 1st ride of the day, note were just trail riding 25-35mph within 10 minutes I see front right shock leaking oil, not weeping but leaking. I text him and yes after almost 3 weeks a cancelled trip and sitting an extra 2.5 hrs with 4 other people on the frwy and paying an extra 320.00 I've lost my patience. Joey's response it's just oil residue! Still drive it trailer home yep at the floor under the front right shock yep puddle of shock oil! And the left front and right rear has oil weeping out of the shocks! Never did that before, so I don't really think he rebuilt them, can't prove it though. Later he tells me he didn't have the tool to do them, no shit, hence the Schrader valves. Bottom line save yourself the mental anguish and the piles of BS, this guy must have some mental issues as in pathological liar as everything and I mean everything is a lie. I'm removing all the shocks and taking them to Shock Therapy. Lesson learned take it to creditable shop. read more

August 25, 2022 I called and talked to the owner Joey to have EPower Steering installed in my restored 1960 VW Single Cab. He said they were very busy and quoted a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks out. I made an appointment with Joey to have it installed on 10/18/22. 10/11 I called to have the date pushed out to 10/25 10/25 I dropped off the VW. I discussed with Joey a overheating problem I would have when it was hot out. He told me it was caused by the muffler being directly under the carb on the right. He suggested heat wrapping the muffler as well as the underside of the tins on the right. Made total sense to me and I approved it. 11/3/22 Called Joey for a status and was told he checked the timing and it was jumping 10 degrees all over the place which can be attributed to the heat problem and running bad when hot. He suggested installing a new CB Performance distributor, coil and plug wires for $220. I declined because if the timing was jumping like he said, I would have noticed it. I just want to proceed with the heat wrap and EPower Steering. He told me it would be complete next week which would be 11/7/22. 11/10/22 Called Joey who said he was swamped. Some of the heat wrap is done, still needs to finish that up. He said most of the parts were in for the power steering and he wants to paint some so it all looks great. The steering column is still in the car. Said he would call me tomorrow 11/11 with an update. 11/11/22 After reading Shawn's review I decided to drive to B&R to look at the status. When I arrived I talked to Joey that I wanted to see the progress. He told me nothing had been done. After making an appointment and nothing done after just about 3 weeks, I took the VW back, drove it home and had an Uber take me back to get my car. I have a steering problem on my 1965 VW Crewcab. I called B&R Buggies and spoke to Joey. He said they were very busy and could not even look at it for two weeks. B&R's phone message system was full so I drive to their shop. Joey took a look and told me what I needed however he could not fix it for two weeks. After the two weeks I was able to reach Joey by phone. He said he would order the part and made an appointment to bring the VW in. I left the VW with him for two days. When I picked it up he said that he ordered the wrong part and I would need to come back. I asked him to call me when he had the correct part. After four days he has not called. This is a very unreputable business. read more

Always loved this place, figured I'd go up on a Saturday to check out the new place.(in Temecula) hours on google say 9am-7pm every day except Sunday, I thought that was a little weird because they usually closed early Saturday when they were in Oceanside besides the point, I drove all the way from San Diego to find their doors locked at 11:15am on Saturday and hours on the door even said 9am-2pm wouldn't be so disappointed if it was just google that said the wrong hours but so did the front door. Do not go here! I had recently purchased a Karmann Ghia and this place was recommended by a VW parts supplier in Oceanside. I gave a few simple repair projects to the shop and was disappointed. This is too bad because that car had a lot of work ahead of it and this shop has missed out on all the money I have since spent. One of the projects was to repair the speedometer. The owner, Gary, told me that they do NOT provide parts so I would have to track one down myself and he even recommended a reputable junkyard that specializes in VW parts. The new speedometer was replaced and functions fine. However the old one was not returned. RED FLAG! I didn't discover it was not among the parts until later. There is quite a demand for original parts and I could have easily recovered some of my cost by selling it to someone to rebuild it. I am CERTAIN the owner was aware of this and probably sold my speedometer himself and pocketed the cash. FURTHERMORE I wanted my clock repaired. I simply asked him to remove the clock (which is stupid because now that I have learned how simple it is and I SHOULD have done it myself). At this time I also asked Gary if I should just get a new one from the same junk yard. He said that would be about $100 and would be too much! He took the liberty of giving the clock to Bob's Clock repair in Carlsbad (he is "friends" with the owner Dan). This made me mad because I know of a very reputable clock repair shop I have used many times. I told him I wanted it back and he said it was too late.Three weeks later I had still NOT heard about my car and called Gary was very nonchalant and said, "Oh do I still have your clock?" So frustrating. Some days later he called and said it was ready. When I got there he said the clock was not hooked up and that at that moment (the shop was empty) he didn't have "time" to do it. He said I would have to come back when one of his guys could take the time to do it. I think he intended to charge me a portion of an hour for the labor to do that too! I decided to just pay my bill to that point and never come back. As you read this realize that there are TWO simple connectors that, had they been labeled when the clock was removed, could have been reconnected in about 30 seconds. Gary charged me $150.00 for the clock. Because the invoce from Bob's Clock shop had NO PRICE listed I have no idea what he actually charged Gary. I pointed out that he discouraged me from getting one from a junkyard and he just shrugged (JERK!). LATER I took the car to a far more repuatble VW shop to be reconnected and they said the clock is completely frozen. Will never work again. Bob's could NOT have fixed it and I should not have been charged $150!!!!!! read more

Lived here for three years. Brought my bus here multiple times with power issues. Long story short after rewiring my bus (their recommendation) and multiple visits nothing had changed. Brought it to a mechanic in San Clemente. He fixed the problem with one visit in about an hour. Nice guys and all, but never again. read more

I scored an 1835 motor for my 74 Thing with no carburetor. I called B&R for advice and they recommended a fat double barrel. I installed it out of the box and it ran great.... So I thought. I brought the car back to B&R to have the carb jetted for more power and was so impressed when I picked it up. The car has a new level of performance I was not expecting. I'll be back! read more

I was in the process of purchasing a '65 Beetle and needed a pre-purchase inspection. TC went out of his way to get the car in and did a detailed assessment. He even took me to the back to show me some of the things to ask the seller. The whole process took about an hour and the cost was reasonable. After all of this time, money and effort, the seller accepted my offer then backed out out the deal! So much for "your word is your bond."
