    Hard Shell taco

There was hardly anything on the taco and the shell was stale. Absolutely ridiculous that they're charging as much as they do for hardly anything.

Still slow AF. No receipt. No napkins. Underdone oles. Less than an ounce of cheese sauce. Sweet tea is delicious though. Time to take it to Taco Bell.

Ordered a chicken quesadilla. They gave me a cheese quesadilla and still charged me for the chicken.

I used to love Taco Johns growing up, but this last visit was gross. Way too much "goop" mixed in with the taco meat.

One of the best Taco John's I've been to. Beans are really really good.

They are related, but Fiesta in Pleasant Hill is the shunned and estranged disappointment cousin of Fiesta North Liberty. The service was slow. The food didn't have much depth of flavor. The margaritas weren't sweet or flavorful. I will say that the restaurant was spacious and decently quiet. I may go for nachos again in the future, but there are better places to go in the greater Des Moines area.

A chicken quesadilla for the four year old, grandpa got pork tacos, grandma got a steak burrito, my husband got birria Ramen, and I got seafood enchiladas. We also got 2 margaritas to go. And a few dips and salsas. The portions were huge especially the Ramen. Everyone liked what they ordered. The guacamole was great too. My seafood enchiladas had a great creamy sauce and the crab and shrimp were well cooked. The margaritas were very strong! The only thing we did not like was the avocado salsa, and the chips tasted a little stale. It was very watery and bland.

I hate to give negative reviews but…read more.. We just stopped in for some margaritas on the patio overlooking Coper Creek Lake. They had a special on margs so we ordered those. What we got was a very syrupy, sweet and almost non alcoholic version of a margarita. If there was any tequila in there it was a drop or two. I asked for 'mas tequila' and it never came... We have been here before a few times and had a pretty good experience sitting at the bar, but something has changed since it reopened. We ordered some guacamole and it was very plain. Even the salsa lacked the flavors we were expecting. I hate to be so negative, but when there are so many Mexican Restaurant options in Des Moines - you have to do better. The patio was dirty and neglected with trash and debris blowing around and and patio furniture all need attention and cleaning. But hey the the company and view was great! Hopefully this restaurant gets back on track, we love a good Mexican restaurant but we will most likely not go back to this one again.

Their hot sauce is authentic & spicy. 2nd time ordering the nacho fajitas and they didn't skim out on the meat (chicken & steak)! Our kids shared the burrito and they both agreed that it was good, but nothing too special, they liked the nacho fajitas more. Margaritas are $2.99 on Wednesday Decor is pretty simple, nothing fancy.

Being that it was a beautiful, sunny spring afternoon and Cinco de Mayo, we thought it fitting to…read morecombine a bike ride with some margaritas. So, we ventured down the bike trail from Ankeny to Bondurant to try a restaurant we hadn't previously visited. It's a cute little spot in a strip mall off Highway 330, but we arrived on bikes via the back streets. We had the choice of the patio, the main seating area, or the bar. We chose the bar so we could watch all the activity. The place was about half full, but it was eerily quiet, so we jokingly asked where the mariachi band was. The hostess eventually turned on some music, but we could barely hear it, which left us feeling a little less festive. The service was a bit slow, even though they weren't very busy--especially considering what day it was. We actually witnessed some ladies leave after being ignored for too long. I'm not sure what was going on there. But one friendly waiter finally brought us a first round of margaritas ($7.59 on special) and some chips and salsa (complimentary). The margaritas were big and delicious! The chips were fresh, and the salsa--although bland, in my opinion--was fresh and good enough (I added some El Yucateco to spice mine up!). It took quite a while to get our order in, and I originally wanted the ceviche, but was sadly told they didn't have it. So I ordered the Chicken Street Tacos ($14.90), which arrived with just a few small onion slices and no cilantro. :( Kim opted for the Chicken Quesadilla appetizer ($10.59). Once the food arrived, we quickly understood why the ratings aren't all five stars. The quesadilla was super plain, and the chicken in both dishes lacked flavor and wasn't very tender. I had a side of pinto beans that were good but also lacked seasoning. The best things on my plate were the tortillas and the fried jalapeño. We opted for two more margaritas, and Kim switched it up to a Margarona ($12.99)! Like I said, the drinks were good, and our waiter warmed up a bit, adding a touch of personality to the evening. We left feeling full, yet a bit disappointed that we didn't discover the kind of Mexican food gem that would make it worth the travel in the future. It was passable, but nothing I'd make a special trip for.
