The highlight were the croissant donuts. They were layers of buttery, flaky dough in a square format. I've tried the ones from Dominic Ansel when the cronut was at its peak and I prefer the Freddy version. I found the ones with the drizzle on them to be better. If you can't commit to a whole cronut you can get cronut bites for 25 cents each!

It was a Saturday night almost 9pm and I didn't realize they were about to close. When I ordered my donut, I asked if I was getting ice cream too, should I pay separately or together and I was informed that since they were about to close, the donuts were free! And they asked if I wanted to try any others. So I got: mango tajin, chocolate cake (not pictured) and chocolate glazed. The chocolate cake was dry and didn't have much flavor. The chocolate glazed was my favorite. The donut was cakey and reminded me of some sweet treat from my childhood that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe some of the Entenmann's donuts? Anyway, it was really good for being a simple and plain donut. The manjo tajin wasn't bad. It's a plain vanilla cake donut with the mango and tajin in the icing. The flavors were good, but it wasn't worth me finishing. I love donuts and I love specialty donuts. While they may have some, this wasn't a place that I will include in my regular donut rotation, but I'm glad I finally got to try them.

I didn't get to taste every single one, but the chocolate oreo, rose, mango pistachio and pina colada were delicious!! The flavors popped, the texture of the donut was light and had me not feeling too guilty, and they looked nice! There is a Hot Wheels display with a "take a car, leave a car" sign. Our young child didn't have a car to leave, so we encouraged him to speak up and ask if he could take one and bring a replacement back after his soccer game. As he started to ask, the owner didn't give him an opportunity to finish. Instead, she immediately told him that if he didn't have a replacement car, that he's stealing. The way this was handled was completely unnecessary and especially upsetting for a young child. He was devastated and kept crying, saying "I don't steal." And that's the point, if he intended to steal, he wouldn't have asked. We are teaching him to do the right thing. What kind of experience do you want your young customers to have? There was an opportunity to hear the child out and simply explain the policy. Or even offer to hold the car for a bit until he could return with his car. Instead, an innocent interaction turned into an experience that left a young child feeling like he had been accused of being a thief. A little patience and kindness would have made all the difference. We actually went back afterward, and spoke with the owner about how she spoke to a 5 year-old. We explained how upset he was and how the interaction affected him. Her only response was, " I understand, but we've had 24 cars stolen." There was no apology, no acknowledgment that the situation could have been handled differently, and no accountability for how she spoke to a young child who was simply trying to ask a question and do the right thing. What a missed opportunity. Had she simply shown our child a little kindness, we could have easily turned the experience into a positive one and had our child come back with multiple cars to contribute for the next little person who may not have a car on hand. Instead, we walked away feeling completely different about the establishment.
