I had a remote issue with my Garage door. I called Besser to request help. I was told a technician would be there between 1pm and 4pm. I mentioned I would be gone at the time but would be available between 9am and 12pm. A technician was in the area, on the way to another job but said he would stop by. 15 minutes Chris was knocking at my door! He was a great technician and friendly and I could tell he wanted to do a great job. Which he did! He was very experienced and capable at his job. He set up a new remote and set up 3 existing remotes aka two vehicles and a golf carts remote . He also showed us how to set up the MyQ Bluetooth app that allows me to inner act with my iPhone from"anywhere." I can't say enough about Chris and his brightness and eagerness to succeed! We called Besser around noon on Sunday to repair our garage door which didn't open. Besser scheduled a tech for the following Monday. Their web site says 24/7 service. We had Besser (formerly Hanson's) come out and install a new garage door several years ago and we scheduled annual maintenance on our garage door with Besser/Hanson's every year for the 7 years we've lived in the desert. I'm very concerned about the service we received. Before Eric arrived, both garage doors were opening and closing perfectly fine. The only reason we scheduled the visit was to reduce the noise, and Eric recommended replacing the wheels. We agreed and had all of the wheels replaced. However, after the work was completed, we were told that the garage doors would no longer close and that we now needed a new motor at a cost of $700. This is extremely concerning. If the doors were functioning properly before the service, I would like to understand why they are no longer working afterward. It raises serious questions about whether something may have been done incorrectly during the repair. At this point, I have very little confidence in moving forward with your company. I complained to management, but did not get an explanation and a resolution to restore the doors to proper working condition without additional unnecessary charges. After my initial experience, I had another company come out--Electric and Garage Door Repair--to properly diagnose the issue. They found that the only problem was a faulty capacitor, which cost just $10 to fix. The technician was honest and confirmed that the motor was working perfectly fine, and there was no need to replace the springs--contrary to what Besser had recommended for $700. This was a completely different assessment and saved me a significant amount of money. I strongly encourage others to get a second opinion and do their homework before agreeing to costly repairs. Do not use this company. They will rip you off. They have a local tv ad running currently where they offer no fee service call and all sliding doors tuned up (fixed) for only $79.95. When they arrived and looked at my small (3ft) wide bedroom slider they told me it would cost almost $400. to fix, including a $79. Service call fee. I requested the repair of the rubber gasket at the bottom of my garage door. The garage door was initially bought from and installed by Hansen, so the gasket installation defect was caused by them. The gasket was about 6 inches too short, allowing leaves and debris to blow in to the garage so I asked the Hansen representative to extend or replace it. The price I was quoted was $400. They advertise cleaning sliders so when I called to have my sliders cleaned and serviced, they quoted me $79.95 per door, which I was ok with. When they came out, they opened and closed the sliders (we have 3, 2 older and one maybe 8 yrs old) and then proceeded to tell us that cleaning them would not do any good and so they would have to replace all the rollers for $900! I called Hanson to schedule a service call due to a non functioning remote control. Had tried replacing the battery and reprogramming it but nothing made it work. The lady who answered said she had two other customers on hold, could she call me back. Gave her my number, then waited over an hour with no response. Called back and asked why no one called me back. Was told they had been busy. No apology. They were due between 3 and 5 on 3/2/22. At 1:30pm, they called to say he was on his way. I live 14 miles away from the home needing help. Said I could be there in 30 min and did so. Waited 20 min- no tech. Called to find out they sent him to another assignment. When he did arrive, the tech was very polite and very helpful. Took care of the issue very quickly and checked the door as well. Didn't get the young man's name ( he lives in Yucaipa) but he was great. Made up for all the hassles it took to get him there. Guess their fees have gone up for service calls. Now $79.99 plus they charge 3 percent for check, debit, or credit card payment. Five stars for the tech. I responded to a radio ad which advertised patio door service. Initially when I called to set up an appointment the receptionist said the cost would be 89$ apparently unaware of the radio ad. She finally agreed that the techs would honor the advertised price. When the techs arrived to work on the doors, it turned out that the sliding glass doors were 49$ EACH so in the end I approved one set of doors for 99.90!!!! To have all my doors services it would have cost over 500$ which is an absurd amount and not justifiable in my opinion. I wont be calling them again. read more

A couple of years ago I had Hanson service my garage door. At the time they told me I would benefit from having all new nylon wheels installed. They were $20 apiece, 10 rollers in all. Plus the maintenance fee. I had the service done and the wheels replaced. I was happy with the service then. Today, September 10, 2021, I had Hanson come out for a service call, regular maintenance/servicing. Justin was the technician. 20 minutes in I'm told I needed new springs ($400 each x2) and a new opener ($800). $1600!!! I said I would need to think about it, I was in no position to spend that kind of money. Suddenly the garage door would not open all the way! It was fully opening before he arrived...what the heck happened. I asked how that could be. The conversation got heated, i said...it was working before you got here! Justin shrugged his shoulders and said he would call his supervisor. He came back and said he could sell me a garage door opener, installed, for $650. I asked what did you do to my garage door that it won't go up all the way? Nothing. I asked him for information on how to contact the owner. He said he didn't know, he was an independent contractor. What? Independent contractor? He then said he wasn't going to charge me a service fee, got into his truck and drove away leaving my garage door out of commission. I asked him to stop so I could take a picture of the license and the business name on the door. It said Hanson. Before I could get my camera open on my phone, he drove away. I called the office, spoke with Claudia. I asked to speak with a supervisor or owner. She took a message. Claudia was very pleasant. I got a call back from the GM, Rich. I'll follow up once things are addressed. 9/14/2021 - Last Friday I was contacted by Rich. Professional and interested in working to resolve. He sent out another technician, RAUL. If you use Hanson's ASK FOR THIS TECHNICIAN. Very knowledgeable and explained, in detail, all the issues he encountered. I will say the prices he quoted were less than what Justin quoted. I did not use Hanson's for replacement of my opener. The opener they were going to use is being discontinued, and while Rich was reassuring they could service it in the future, my trust level is a bit damaged. So, if you door breaks educate yourself. Ask questions about brands, read reviews and decide if the price is right. I will likely have Raul service my door in the future. If the springs break, I would use Raul as I found him professional and knowledgeable. I did upgrade my rating from a 1 to 2 as I felt Hanson's will address the issue with there "employee". I picked Hanson based on reviews. I asked my husband to call them to repair our dead garage door opener. He called on a Friday; they came on Monday. I was at work while the repairs occurred. After the repairs were done I asked my husband what the cost was. When he said $1100 I almost died. Should have asked for an estimate first, obviously! Assuming a $400 opener, service call fee, labor and taxes, there is no way this company can justify charging $1100. This is simply a ripoff. Use ANY other company for your repairs. read more

Here is my simple summary: 1. What they offered me as "the best openner" was a lower-end LiftMaster model. And they seem to know nothing about the highest rated, Most Recommended, best openers. (I had to learn this AFTER I trusted their advice). 2. They charged me $750 to install a very mediocre opener that has a retail value of about $200. It took about 90 minutes. That's about $300/hr. and the installer didn't even connect the "red handle and release cord" properly. 3. Trying to get any knowledgeable person on the phone was more than frustrating. Most hours of the day only the dispatcher was available, and has no technical knowledge. My advice? Be very skeptical of any company that only offers "LiftMaster" brand, and not the top rated openers. read more

Our garage door transmitter quit working. I read the manual and replaced the battery. Nothing I could do fixed it. I called Hanson's just after they opened at 8am October 10. I was referred to them and another company by our Condo Property Manager. I chose Hanson because of their more favorable reviews. Hanson's scheduler booked a same day appointment with technician, Rich. Rich called me an hour before my appointment time offering to come earlier, if that fit my schedule. Happily it did! He diagnosed my problem in just a couple minutes. The circuit board on my old garage door opener was failing. And replacement circuit boards for my 10-15 year old Maraantec model are no longer available. Rich installed a new motor and belt drive in less than an hour. He showed me how to easily program my transmitters. There is a 5 year warranty on this motor from the manufacture. And in addition, there's a full year replacement warranty from Hanson's. My garage door had become very sluggish, so decided to take advantage of their coupon received in the mail. That same afternoon their service man, Paul, arrived on time. He immediately pointed out my problem--an obviously broken spring. He explained that I would need to replace both springs ($300+) and recommended replacing the bearings at $25 each. I did not question the cost because I went through this last year at my home in another state. These springs had lasted 20 years, so no complaint. I am very happy with the service I got. read more

The only complaint I have is that the company should change its name to show that they also repair sliding doors not just garage doors-and they do a terrific job of it. They arrived on time wearing masks which they never removed. Within 15 minutes they gave me a reasonable estimate and within an hour removed a large 8 foot slider, repaired the rollers, trimmed the metal to improve the fit and replaced it ensuring that it moved smoothly and fit in place. This is the worst customer service I have had from any professional business. The owner and staff are rude and the associates they sent out were sloppy and non professional. They left gray greasy lubricant that had fallen to the garage floor from the door opener tracks and falls to this day from over application. They have refused to make it right. I will have to cover the cost of clean up myself. The 68 point inspection lasted all of 5 minutes at the most. I received a 25$ gift certificate to a restaurant, but believe me I would have much rather had a job done appropriately. There are too many other good choices in our area so don't settle for the customer abuse I encountered with Hansons. read more
