I've been coming to B Sweet for years to get my fix of the Sluttiest Brownie, so imagine my horror when I stopped by recently and they didn't have one. Forced to explore other options, I ordered the Ooey Gooey Butter Bar and a chocolate brownie bar instead. And honestly? They can do no wrong. I was especially shocked by how much I loved the Ooey Gooey Butter Bar. As someone who usually gravitates toward anything involving large amounts of chocolate, I wasn't expecting to fall for a dessert that didn't revolve around it. Yet there I was, happily eating every last bite and wondering where it had been all my life. Everything I've had from B Sweet over the years has been consistently delicious. After years of waiting to try this spot, the day has come and I was so happy with my experience! We came here about 2 hours before closing and while they were sold out of some items, they still had a good selection. The ube bread pudding was out of this world - packed with flavor, moist, and melt in your melt, I was ecstatic. Great atmosphere and vibe! Very colorful and nice decorated space. They utilized lots of violet color for ube and there were decor that emphasized filipino culture in a hip way. Great variety of ube flavored filipino desserts and teas. They also had great service and we were recommended their best seller: the ube cheesecake and the jasmine tea. The ube cheesecake was as their store name- sweet. One of my absolute favorites! I visited them for the first time years ago and now that I've been living in LA for the past few years, I have been able to visit them more often. For those unfamiliar, halo halo or halo2 is a Filipino shaved ice desert that contains things like sweet beans, coconut slithers, garbanzo beans, coconut jelly, sago, gulaman, shaved ice, milk, and topped off with Ice Cream and some crispy toasted rice. Finally another visit to B Sweet, this is my go to dessert choice after dinner at Killer Noodle. I drove all the way down to LA today from Reno, NV, and this was a necessary stop before we got to our hotel. All 4 of my family got the Ube Bread Pudding w/ Pandan Drizzle, and a scoop of ice cream. B sweet has so much potential. They have one of the best halo halos we have ever had. We actually loved all of the desserts we ordered. The problem is the menu is a little overwhelming and confusing. I was with my daughters and it wasn't just me that felt this way. Service was disappointing. The girl working the register was unwelcoming and did not greet us or offer any help whatsoever. She came off as annoyed that we decided to come in. We could be heard talking to each other and asking questions and she never felt inclined to answer us. The young man that made our order was super friendly and courteous. He built our desserts and packed our to go items nicely. Real sad to report my experience has changed since I was here last :( I came by with some friends on a weekday evening and the outdoor seating was almost entirely full but we did manage to snag a table. We came by exclusively for a slice of their Ube cheesecake which I previous came by to pick up for one of my friend's birthday cake. Service was fast but the cake was so cold it was almost rock solid. I get that they premake these and keep them refrigerated but this was almost inedible until it spent about 15 mins dethawing with us. The recipe of the Ube cheesecake also seems to have changed?? We all agreed it tasted different than previously and that perhaps it got less sweet? This was never overly sweet so now it was almost bland?? An absolute must-try if you're in the Sawtelle area! We came here for a sweet treat after having tsukemen nearby. We looked at the menu and photos on yelp and decided this would be the perfect spot and trusted our instincts. We were so glad we stopped by because our instincts were right! We tried the ube horchata and the affogato for a little pick-me-up and a much needed caffeine hit. Both drinks were absolutely delicious. When I first sipped on the ube horchata, I could not put it down! It has clear notes of both flavors mixed perfectly into one drink. The affogato was also super delicious! If you get it, make sure to eat/drink it quickly before the ice cream melts! The ice cream and the coffee both tasted good on their own, but mixed in together they blend in for a delicious combination. The service was great! The workers didn't rush us as they could tell we took a little while to decide what to get. They were even open for suggestions in case we needed some. On top of that, they seemed friendly and approachable, making this place feel welcoming. The shop is small but mighty - the decor is visually appealing and helps tie in the entire restaurant together. I enjoyed seeing the signage and other decor they had throughout the shop. Overall I would say this is definitely worth checking out - the drinks are really good and I would totally get them again. Came here for dessert and surprisingly there was no line! The menu can be overwhelming won't lie for a first timer, but once you know what flavors you want and the type of dessert, it's easy to navigate. I got ice cream thinking both the coffee cake and the ice cream would be small or average portions for me to combine the two and boy was I wrong. They give you two servings of ice cream (or what seemed like 2 servings) and the coffee cake is huge (and decadent!). Ordering one would have been sufficient. The malt ice cream was good, especially if you like malt. If you're thinking "oh i just want to try and see if I like it", get a different flavor or ask for a sample (if they do that there?) because you'll end up with a lot if you don't like it. To say the ube coffee cake was a lot is an understatement. The flavor of the ube is throughout the cake and there are walnuts which I wasn't expecting but did not mind. After trying Big Boi Filipino, we headed over to B Sweet Dessert Bar, taking advantage of the $1 off discount from our Big Boi receipts. My friend ordered the Halo-Halo, while I went with the Buko Pandan Halo-Halo ($8 each, minus the discount). Since we paid separately and each had our own receipt, we expected no issues, but the cashier made a random comment about us getting the discount twice. It wasn't a huge deal, but it felt unnecessary--especially since we had asked in advance if paying separately was fine. As for the desserts, the flavors were good, but we both noticed the ice was too coarse and not finely crushed. It was quite hard, making it difficult to mix and eat. That said, I did appreciate the strong pandan flavor in mine, along with the pandan jelly, buko pandan condensed milk, nata de coco, kaong, macapuno, and pandan ice cream. Those elements really stood out. My friend's Halo-Halo had a mix of ube ice cream, flan, jellies, red beans, and more ube ice cream. I personally don't like red beans, and they seemed to add a lot of them, so I was glad I went with the pandan instead. Overall, it was an okay dessert experience, but I've had better. We've frequented this spot on Sawtelle several times now and prefer this location than the shop in Woodland Hills. Great customer service and plenty of selection. They offer traditional Halo Halo with more than enough ube ice cream, real Filipino leche flan, with classic 13 delicious ingredients layered with shaved ice, tropical fruits and jellies, along with condensed milk. Home of the world's sluttiest brownie. Yep. That's what it's called. There's a lot to this dessert. Caution: Not for the calorie conscious. It's quite indulgent and if not shared by a two or more people can last for many days. A few bites in and done. They are most popular for their ube bread pudding. It comes with pandan syrup, which looks like radioactive neon green lava LOL. Do yourself a favor and get this at least once in your life!!! The bread pudding is super gooey, and the flavors are unlike anywhere else I've ever tried. They have a lot of other ube/pandan/asian flavored dessert options as well, ranging from cheesecakes to pies to slutty brownies to ice cream. Food: This is a Filipino based desert bar that compliments Big Boi just down the street. This place has great deserts, so great I have seen them packaged at Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney. I have had Halo Halo in the Philippines and I prefer the Americanized Halo Halo I get here. It just has that extra that I prefer. The bread puddings are sweat but the flavor always comes out over the sugar hit I am getting with the custard of the pudding. Also the Cookie Monster is a must take home because a ginormous chocolate drizzled chocolate chip cookie is a fun thing to have on hand. Service: I have always had good to great service at B Sweet. They were out of drip coffee on my last visit and they were able to make me an espresso americano mixture that hit the spot and wasn't on the menu. The charged me for a drip and that made me happy. Ambiance: The seating on Sawtelle is nice (even on cold nights) and the inside has cool niche decorations. The service line is efficient with a good flow from ordering to waiting for your items. I live in the area, and have been visiting this establishment since they opened their storefront in 2014, but I will no longer be a regular customer of theirs. Shockingly rude and unprofessional management. Place is quite small, but has outdoor seating. My son wanted the tres leches cake. It was really too sweet for me and was very dense in texture. It was not soft, and very hard to cut into.
