Yaaaas King, SLAY! We had just finished our linner are Kura and saw the truck parked out front, so decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we opted for Bani Bani for our dessert. When I saw him working the mochi dough for the person ahead of us, I was sold! Heck yeah I wanna try fresh mochi. It did not disappoint. We placed our orders and had a seat at the chairs set up near the truck. We only waited a few minutes and our delicious treat were ready. The kids LOVED their strawberry mochi dessert and my Matcha one was subtly terrific. The portion is huge and well worth the price. We will definitely try the other flavors the next time we come across the truck.
Food 5/5 Matcha Bloom - YUM! The soft mochi and the matcha gelato is a great combination. Bani Matcha - My partner liked his matcha. No notes. Service 5/5 The owner used to be in the CIA, Culinary Institute of Arts, so you know it's gonna be good. I was really excited to get my gelato and the owner was cheesing hard. Ambiance 5/5 There is some plastic stools setup for that street market vibe.
My best friend and I drove an hour to try this mochi ice cream. Love how soft the mochi was! Unique flavors. Friendly workers.
I learned about Bani Bani on Instagram and have been dying to try. It actually lived up to the hype. The owner is very kind and all orders are freshly made. I tried the purple dream (ube) and it's hands down the best ube dessert I've ever had. The mochi is so stretchy and ice cream is the perfect amount of sweet. Perfect cold treat for a hot day! I can't wait to come back and try other flavors! I highly recommend stopping by on your next visit to Sawtelle!
If you're in sawtelle and you see this pink trunk, go. Matcha is incredible and rich. Mochi is fresh, soft, and perfect. Pure japanese treat. Fairly priced! The guy who served us was very kind.
So bad, but does have potential. Flavor was there. Execution was not. Mochi was extremely thin making the ratio completely wrong. Plus, most of the mochi stuck to the bottom of the cardboard and was hard to eat. The generous serving of ice cream was icy and not quality ice cream. I got matcha a throughout the ice cream there were dark chunks of matcha where the matcha powder was clumpy and not evenly blended out. The flavor of the slightly salted cream on top and wafer did taste perfectly balanced and were a nice add Price was $8.75 pretty pricey for the quantity that you get and also the quality and execution. For $8.75 you could walk 1 min to the ninja market across the way and get a whole box of 6 pieces mochi ice cream from bubbies and it'd be way better. I would not get again. None of the flavors really excited me on the menu either. Flavors were vanilla strawberry chocolate matcha or corn. To eat this was also so messy and they didn't offer any forks or napkins
I got the chocolate and dubai chocolate one! I totally get why Bani Bani is so popular. It tasted fresh (even though it was a bit on the frozen side probably from the gelato). There's also seating which is great. But onto the taste. I honestly really liked the taste of the dubai chocolate mochi one as it tastes just like the ones I had in Ktown, and Korea but even better! This one I really liked! Then the chocolate one it was definitely more on the stretcher side so the texture was something that I needed to get adjusted to for a second, but as a chocolate lover the taste was really good. Overall worth being viral :)
Another great visit to Bani Bani! Our family loves this place and make the trek out to the west side just to enjoy their delicious treats. From ordering to receiving your order, the person running the truck is always so pleasant and thankful for you coming. This last time we went we chatted about kids and we both had a good laugh! He also came out to give us a free sample of their banana milk and he said, "it's Sunday so why not?" Who does that? It goes to show you how much this truck genuinely values their customers. Thank you guys! See you again soon!
Fresh Mochi Gelato, what more can you ask for! I love that the Mochi is wrapped for you fresh. I got the Strawberry Gelato, amazing flavor except the Gelato was a little grainy, that's why i gave a 4 star. Mochi it self was smooth and soft. Great Service, Cards are accepted. They offer little stools on the side so you can sit and enjoy your Mochi! Go check them out!
This is a food truck on Sawtelle near Daiso with a few small chairs placed around it. Tried the "sunny corn" which is a sweet corn ice cream wrapped with mochi. I thought it was cute that the guy working knew we were sharing the dessert so he added two corn jellies for us. I thought it was just the right amount of sweetness and loved how gooey the mochi was. It was a thin layer of mochi - I could have used more because I'm such a mochi lover. It's made fresh to order and came out quickly! I also like that bani bani uses compostable packaging and utensils.
LOVED my Ube Mochi! Glad I randomly walked into the Bani Bani food truck when I was in Little Tokyo. The chocolate and the cream on top is a perfect match for the Ube ice cream and mochi wrapping.

This is a bright pink truck that sells matcha drinks and mochi gelato. I loved the mochi wrapped dark chocolate gelato. The gelato had tiny bits of dark chocolate sprinkled into the mixture. The cream on top was light and not too sweet. Loved how soft and stretchy the mochi was. Portion was hefty enough and fair for the price. The only downside is that it can be messy to eat because of how stretchy the mochi is. There are a few stools on the sidewalk forncustomers, if you want to enjoy it while sitting. read more

I stopped by after seeing it while in sawtelle. They have mochi wrapped ice cream which I thought was unique - the chewiness of the mochi with the ice cream was a pleasant texture. The ice cream also tasted like ube - not too sweet. The owner prepared my dessert quickly. There is no seating so just expect to walk around or stand. Overall I enjoyed my dessert and would come back! read more
Came across this truck when we were in the area. Found street parking right away and we went to the Japanese market and saw this truck. Think of it as a bigger version of the mochi desserts that you buy at the store. Except that they make them onsite. There was a line when we went because it was Saturday night after 8pm. But it went pretty quick, I picked the uber and my son had the strawberry. The strawberry gelato tasted natural and refreshing. It has some strawberry inside of it. Ube was ok - not that strong sweet ube I prefer. Will probably try the other flavors next time. Size was big enough to share. There are stools if you want to stay in the area and eat it sitting down. read more

If you like mochi, you must try this. If you like good gelato, you must try this. If you like little treats, you must try this! Jacob is one of two partners who own & run this truck. He very warmly greeted us & made us two mochi covered gelatos to order. They were so fresh, the mochi sooooo soft & chewy & velvety. The gelatos were rich and dense, creamy but not too sweet (in the best way). We tried: Matcha - lightly matcha, so creamy, so delicious! Snow Cream - the lightly salted, vanilla bean flecked whipped cream made the lightly sweet cream gelato absolute heaven! This was my favorite. Jacob shared that his partner is CIA (Culinary Institute of America) trained, that they make the mochi fresh EVERY MORNING, and that they MAKE ALL THE GELATO FROM SCRATCH. You can feel the love that goes into their mochi covered gelato! Their delivery is super thoughtful too - I love the compostable serving tray & the little wood spork they serve with it. The stools they set up by the truck are thoughtful, & a cute & easy way to enjoy a little treat. This is a business that I highly recommend - for the high quality ingredients, food freshness, the deliciousness, & the warm service. I'll be back soon to try the Sunny Corn flavor! read more
We got a strawberry mochi and a matcha mochi from the Bani Bani dessert food truck. The strawberry was very mild flavor and not too overpowering. The matcha mochi was very good with a fragrant matcha taste. The guy working who seemed like the owner was very nice and diligently working to prepare everyone's order quickly. read more

My family and I stopped by this food truck for some snacks and a drink, and let me say the food was delicious! I specifically ordered a matcha latte and it tasted amazing! Wanted to like this but the Sweet Corn didn't have enough corn flavor! It had some corn kernels inside, but the ice cream just tasted like vanilla. Would benefit from more corn juice in the ice cream base. I'm a big fan of corn desserts when you can actually taste the corn. Mochi texture was good though, so I'd be willing to try a different flavor next time. read more

This truck was parked on Sawtelle near Killer Noodle. We ordered the strawberry mochi, which the nice man said was their most popular. You can see him rolling the mochi inside the truck- very fresh! Had to wait a little bit with no line, so could imagine there would be a long wait at busy times. The dessert was really cute, and not that sweet. Mochi was thin and chewy. Kind of preferred it to be more sweet! read more
It's a food truck parked in front of Somi Somi in Little Tokyo. They sell ice cream wrapped in mochi and boy, what a great idea. They come in multiple flavors like ube, matcha, etc. I chose strawberry and I was delighted! (It's not a big scoop but keep in mind that the economy is affecting everyone, including small businesses like this. It's thanks to those stupid tariffs) The dude manning the truck was a total sweetheart and had my order ready in record time. The whole process is cashless, just so you know. The ice cream itself was not too sweet, but it was creamy, satisfying and had that chewiness to it because of the mochi wrapped around it. I loved the mouthfeel of it all. After you grab some ramen or sushi, best head to this food truck and end your sushi/ramen fest on this sweet note. Bring your friends and try all the flavors. You will be delighted. read more
i love sawtelle more than i love my cat.... because i WILL be back for my post-ramen sweet treat?!?! my eyes started watering from how soft and plush and chewy and stretchy that mochi was... the gentleman working behind the counter literally made the mochi dough RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU IN THE WINDOW?!!? it taste SO fresh and decadent and UGH I LOVE MOCHI. plus don't even get me started on the strawberry... THERES CHOCOLATE CHIPS IN THE ICE CREAM??! and it was true strawberry flavor... there's even real strawberries chunks in the ice cream it was so so perfect. and thank GOD my whitewashed arab butt was able to grab some of the last dubai chocolate mochies even though it was near the end of the day, the pistachio flavor was wonderful, just wished it had more chocolate elements. This is pink a truck in the middle of little Tokyo. It's a super crowded area so parking is super bad but the vibes are cool. I came up to the truck and was greeted by a really kind man. The wait wasn't long when we got there. He gave us his recommendations and we ended up choosing the matcha and ube. Matcha 7/10: I like how it's not too sweet and there's a tinge of bitterness which is rly nice. The mochi on the outside was the best part. Super stretchy and soft! Ube 8/10: sweeter than the matcha and it has bits of ube which makes it have a chewier texture which was very unique! Again the mochi was the stealing show. I would def come back and try the strawberry next time. read more

Was getting food in the area and stumbled upon this spot with a sweet tooth. The matcha mochi and chocolate mochi were so good. It tasted so fresh and the quality of the matcha was amazing. Tried Bani Bani since I love mochi and ice cream. It was good but given the price, not sure if I would frequent this place. $8.25 for one piece and it's not that big :/ While the mochi was soft and chewy and the ice cream had good matcha flavor, there were ice chunks in the ice cream which didn't give it the best texture. read more
Delicious, would get again! Get a flavor you like and you won't be disappointed. Cute food truck with friendly service. -Salty Milk has pieces of white chocolate. The whipped topping is more salty so you need to spread it out if you want to distribute the flavor more evenly. -Chocolate tastes pretty good. Choco flavor doesn't come through as much in the mochi but because the ice cream is chocolatey it works out. -Sweet corn is exactly how it tastes read more
Finally got to try Bani Bani, it was such a cute dessert truck! We ordered the corn mochi and ube butter mochi (which was part of a special pop-up this past weekend). There was no wait, and we got our mochi pretty quickly after ordering. I thought the butter mochi was delicious and perfectly chewy. I actually wish the ice cream it came with wasn't ube as well, since it started to taste pretty monotonous in flavor after a couple bites. I wasn't as impressed by the corn mochi, which felt more sticky than chewy, and I would've liked for there to be more corn kernels inside! read more

Food is clean fast well made and the handmade mochi dough is soft and fresh. However some flavors are surprisingly better than the well known ones. Corn was 8/10 piña colada was sorbet like 9/10 light refreshing and surprisingly their matcha was 5/10 not good quality strong matcha taste: more icy like and less milky. I'm excited to try the dark chocolate and strawberry next :) read more

Really enjoyed these mochi desserts! The texture was soft and delicate, and the ice cream filling was smooth without being too heavy or overly sweet. The standout for me was definitely the corn flavor -- incredibly fragrant with a perfect natural sweetness I also tried the matcha strawberry drink, and it was so good! The matcha had a nice, rich flavor without being too bitter, and the strawberry added a fresh, slightly sweet balance. I do live a bit far, so the mochi melted slightly by the time I got home. But surprisingly, they still tasted great even in that condition. I can only imagine how amazing they would be when properly chilled. Would definitely come back again! read more
