I feel like I must reiterate every time - I'm a creature of habit. When I find something I love, it's hard for me to stray. I'm a loyal being and if you become my friend, you're stuck with me, and if you become my favorite food, I will follow you all my life. Such is Ba-NOM-a-NOM, the vegan food truck out of Denver. For the past few years since I've lived in Fort Collins, I've attended many a food truck rally in City Park where this truck has been a staple. With COVID-19 going on now, the food truck rally has stuck around, but with a few changes. They now feature four different food trucks four nights a week on a rotational schedule. I read that Ba-NOM-a-NOM was out this past week and had to go satisfy my craving. I ordered the original (frozen banana turned into a smooth ice cream-like consistency) and added warm peanut butter and vegan chocolate chips. This is a completely guilt-free treat, albeit a little pricey and slightly guilty for my wallet, but I'm more than happy to support the small businesses that I know and love during this tough time. They offer a multitude of other flavors like watermelon, mango, strawberry banana and possibly others, but again, I've found what I love and stick with what works. The menu changes depending on the seasonal availability of fruit so I don't know if they'll have the same selection when you try it. My child and I went to the truck while they are at Woodmar Park in Littleton. Sooo good! We may need to go again tonight before they leave to try other flavors. The Pineapple Peach and the Watermelon Mango are great! Not too sweet and tastes like fresh fruit, which my kids love. Word of caution: if you like sweet desserts, you may be disappointed. Their vegan "ice cream" is not super sweet and it made with bananas and other fruits. Mmmm.... nothing tops off our food truck rally night like a sweet treat from Ba-NOM-a-NOM. Creamy, delicious, filling, fruity goodness. Service was quick & friendly. They kept the line moving. I chose the blackberry peach and my son had the watermelon pineapple. Mine was creamier than his, but he mentioned his was the only flavor without banana, so that might be the reason. Either way, we were both happy customers! Mine was also thick enough that it lasted a good while and I didn't have to scarf it down before it liquified. A good alternative to "unhealthy" desserts. We tried 2 floats (root beer & strawberry) at the Civic Center Park on July 3rd right around the fireworks show. Firstly, I thought the price was OUTRAGEOUS. $8 for a float! How dumb of me to order two of these... tsk tsk tsk... I deserve to be out $16, plus tip. Secondly, the healthy version of ice cream is exactly that... it will taste and feel like healthy ice cream. The banana based ice cream, for me, taste ok, but I find the texture to be slimy, gross, and repulsive. Not my cup-o-tea. Lastly, a small cup of their ice cream will cost you $4 and it might be healthier than a regular, full-fat ice cream. However, they offer various cones, and numerous, not-so-healthy toppings, each of which cost extra. So consider, at the end of the day, if you add all these extras to 'mask' the texture and not so great taste of the ice cream, just how 'healthy' it ultimately is. Other than that, what others have said about wait time and such is true. If you don't mind the wait, and want something cold and 'healthier', stick with a cup of ice cream, nothing extra. Ba-nom-a-nom was at the Lagoon Concert @ CSU last night. Their 100% fruit dessert is always yummy, and popular. But, be prepared to wait a long time. The last few times we've gotten a cup at the various food truck rallies, the lines have been long and slow. Each one is made to order, which can take 45 minutes, like last night. Pleeease Ba-NOM-a-NOM, figure out a way to make more than one at a time, or make them ahead of time and store them in a freezer. It's a bummer to spend concert time standing in a line. read more

Went to a food truck event in Fort Collins yesterday and saw Ba-Nom-A-Nom! The event was at City Park and I guess it happens every Tuesday from now until September. It was so fun! There was live music and a ton of food trucks. Found Ba-Nom-A-Nom and tried a couple of their flavors. Honestly, it was so good. I never thought I'd enjoy a 100% fruit dessert so much. It was somehow fluffy and creamy and just so delicious. I ended up getting half banana and half banana/strawberry/pineapple with coconut flakes on top. TERRIBLE! My 11 year old daughter ordered the "Peach Mango" flavor at Pearl Street Farmers Market today, but it only tasted like a banana. After taking one spoonful we took it back up to the counter because we expected peaches and mango, and it seems we only got banana. My daughter asked if she could have the Watermelon Pineapple instead, which didn't have banana in it. The man taking orders refused and said, "well it says it on the board that it has banana in it." I said, "It also says it has peach and mango, but there's no peach or mango taste and we don't like it." The man still refused to give my daughter a replacement. Rather than making concessions, which would have cost the place $1 and a couple of minutes to make, this food truck has lost a customer and a negative review online. As we were walking away from the truck a couple waiting in line asked us what was wrong and I told them. They walked away. Way to go Ban-a-ma-nom (or whatever you're called)! read more
