We had wings, the pork skewer with sticky rice, beef larb, chicken khao soi and salmon in curry . All were tasty and affordable.

My family and I really enjoyed Baan Talay Thai today. The food was delicious! We had the Tiger Cry, Pad C Ew, Moo Ping, and Crab fried rice. The Tiger cry was a delicious steak nicely prepared with nice flavor from the beef fat. The Pad C Ew was very nice with thick noodles and huge shrimp! The Moo Ping is also a must try charred pork skewers with sticky rice. The Crab Fried Rice was tasty with a generous portion and nice chunks of crab and egg. The flavors were wonderful. Service was also very kind and thoughtful. Our server helped us feel comfortable while eating with our toddler. The place was also very comfortable feeling with TVs throughout with videos of people traveling around Thailand eating food. That definitely helped keep our toddler occupied so we all could eat. Great new Thai addition to the Katy area. Food is legit. They have the classic Thai you know like Pad Thai and more authentic dishes for the adventurous types. The service is very good. My waitress was personable ,and she made sure the order was correct. The papaya salad is excellent here. I ordered the original, fresh seasoned well and the presentation was special. I also tried the fried shrimp roll. I thought it would be similar to an egg roll , but it was battered. Ok extra crispy, but not very flavorful. The fried rice was huge and pleasant. This is a family oriented place. There were lots of family. I enjoyed my experience. Another new Thai restaurant has opened in the Katy area. Walking into the restaurant gives a very pleasant, airy, and clean feeling. The dishes are beautifully and impressively presented. We started off with fried calamari and it was a little oily on the taste and very crispy but needed more flavor. Next, we had moo ping and it was great with the smoky flavor and the sticky rice, will get again. Then, we had beef yellow curry with rice and it was delicious. The beef was tender and the spices were on point but wished it had more potatoes. The shrimp pad Thai had a well balanced seasoning of spicy sour savory well paired with the bouncy shrimp and wished it had a little more smoky flavor. Lastly, our favorite, the mango sticky rice was heart warming. The rice and the warm coconut milk had perfect textures and the mangos were so sweet! This is next to the gym where I work out, so I decided to try it. Placed a to-go order of cheese puffs and orange chicken. Got the order in about 20 minutes, took it home and that's where the good part ended. The cheese puffs were disappointing, they use imitation crab, and although this is disclosed, it isn't very flavorful. And they are very small for the price. Sadly I found the orange chicken inedible. There was hardly any chicken at all, just overcooked fried crusts that I could hardly chew. For $24, this meal was a ripoff. Had I been in the restaurant while eating it, I would have sent it back. I won't be back, despite the convenience factor. read more

I fell in love with Khao Soi when visiting Chiang Mai last year and I have yet to find a spot that serves a good bowl of Khao Soi until now! The broth was rich, topped with the crispy fried noodles and chicken, it is hands down one of my favorite Thai dish and Baan Talay does it so well. The sticky rice (both in the Mango Sticky Rice and Mooping) had the perfect consistency. The server was very tentative and friendly. My daughter and I tried the chicken santay it was super flavorful sweet, spicy, and savory taste. We got the Chicken mama Keemao noodles also flavorful and delicious. For dessert we had the mango sweet rice, chefs kiss not too sweet and also refreshing. Service was quick and they worked well together in always checking on our table. It was a beach themed restaurant cute but a little small we went on a Saturday early evening and it was a bit packed but not overcrowded. I've been too busy lately to dine in (I still plan to once things slow down) but I've had the pad see ew and the Tom kha soup. I didn't care for their version of pad see ew but my brother and husband both liked it. I've been really into Tom Kha soup lately and I was very excited to try their version. I have had both the chicken and shrimp versions and both are incredible. This is my favorite Thai restaurant (I AM THAI) in Katy...perhaps even all of Houston! The food is simply delicious and authentic. The fried rices have that nice dry, hot wok aroma and char on the onions, while still fresh and sleek though not oily. Other places serve it soggy and wet, which is not how it should be. All the variations of papaya salad (thum mua, thum with kaw moo yang) are well balanced and the Lao version hits the spot with the right amount of fermented fish. Both crying tiger and moo ping skewers were perfectly marinated and extremely tender (bonus points for being served with rice and not making us pay extra). My favorite is the boat noodles and they are one of the few that DO IT RIGHT - with the thick meaty broth and all the various accompanying elements such as tripe, tendon, beef ball, and chicharonnes, with a little flight of sauces to customize flavor (as every Thai restaurant should have). Ps. A great sign of the whether or not you care to serve the right food and the right flavor is to look at this flight of sauce, and they got it right - the fish sauce with sliced fresh Thai chili, the vinegar with blended red or green chili, and the right kind of spicy dry chili flakes from Thailand, not American or Italian flakes from Costco. The restaurant itself is welcoming with fun, relaxing beach decor and the service is always very friendly. If you haven't tried it yet, you're doing yourself a disservice. I brought my parents here and they were also impressed! I wish them many years of good business and good food. read more

I don't live in Katy and was visiting but I decided I was craving Thai late at night and wanted to give this place a chance. Glad I did! I had to ask for an off menu item when I found out my favorite dish, pad woon sen, was not listed. The chef delivered results fantastically. I had also called to order and pick very close to their closing time, which I felt was a better option than dining in and causing an inconvenience to the staff that late but they were very friendly with their service and I gladly tipped generously. My mother who is a very selective eater loved the sticky rice mango dessert. Will definitely be coming back if I am back in town. Loved it. read more

well the place isn't close to me but i drove about 30 minutes with no traffic. i walked in & waited for about 5 minutes. nobody came to the front, no other customers where in the restaurant but i can hear people in the back kitchen area, so i opened & closed the door about 2 or 3 more times so they can hear the chime but still nobody came. this was around evening time. i left after 5 minutes and will probably never come back again. i'm sure there are other thai restaurants i can try that are closer to me. read more
