    Chrysanthemum tea and the menu

Had a large to go order, had a chrysanthemum tea while I waited and can not wait to chow down when I get home. It was beautifu atmosphere while I waited great service to those in attendance. It was very clean accommodating. Can not ask for more from a LOCAL KATY HOT SPOT!!!!!!!

Moo Ping with Sticky Rice - good, not great

Food was good, but sadly nothing spectacular and not sure I'd be back. The guy serving me was so kind though and quick with serving me. Food came out quickly. The decorations are cute and the restaurant is clean. I was annoyed with how an employee or maybe she was the owner --was eating lunch with 3 other girls, and they were obnoxiously loud throughout my lunch. It's not big inside so I'd think she would be mindful about other people sitting so close by??

Plastic wrapped Sticky Rice? Not a fan.

Parking is easy. Service was courteous and fast. Really like the staff. The food was not bad but unfortunately it didn't stand out amongst the other Thai restaurants in the Katy area. The one thing we didn't like was the sticky rice in the plastic bag. Not really sure the thinking behind this but heat + plastic to leave another step for the customer? Mmm. Could do without. Thai Tea: 5/5 not overly sweet. Tasty. Moo Ping with Sticky Rice and Kor Moo Yang were both okay but not standouts. Steamed Mussels Clay Pot - 3/5 (not bad, a little bland) My favorite dish was the northern noodle dish that combines dry and wet noodles in a rich broth. I did quite enjoy this. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was lackluster. Only because of the competition in this area, I wouldn't come back though I wish the restaurant lots of love and luck.

Curry, Pad Kee Mao, Tom Yum Soup

We were craving Asian cuisine, wanted to stay in Katy, and hoped to try a restaurant from my Instagram saved posts. This place met all three criteria! Located in the same shopping strip as Baskin-Robbins, I've noticed many restaurants come and go there, but I hope this one stays because Katy needs more diversity. On a Sunday evening, the restaurant had a few occupied tables. I appreciated seeing the owner dining there herself, observing the flow of business. Our waitress was extremely enthusiastic when describing the menu. We chose the Tom Yum soup, Pad Kee Mao, and a curry. The soup was great--I loved the tanginess. The Pad Kee Mao was spot on: the perfect carby goodness I needed, with a nice hint of basil. The thick noodles had a soft texture and were perfectly cooked. The curry, however, had an off-putting taste. After informing the owner, she apologized and removed the item from our table and bill. With friendly service and other dishes being on point, I wouldn't deduct points for this, as they addressed the situation in a favorable way. I will return to enjoy the same dishes and try more! Considering I found this place on Instagram, I was hoping for some aesthetics across all plates; that would be my only suggestion for improvement.

Most legit Thai food in Katy! Love this place. Presentation is nice, the flavor is spot on, and spiciness is real. They have unique dishes there as well and a lot more seafood options. Sticky rice comes with Moo Ping!

The food is delicious and flavorful. I ordered the green curry no spice and it was delicious but had a little kick to it even though I asked for no spice. I ate it with rice and it balance it out. My husband loves spice and ordered the pad Thai spicy and he said it was really spicy but a good spice ‍. We also got an appetizer and a fish that was crispy.

I had the Thai tea and khao soi, which was authentic and delicious. The service was excellent and attentive.

New Thai restaurant next to Baskin Robbins at Mason and Highland Knolls. It's a small place, maybe 10 tables total with a beach theme for decor. For appetizers, I had the roti which was very good and the chicken gyoza which was honestly par. For the entree I had the yellow curry at a medium spice level and it was exactly the spice I would expect for medium. I loved that. Many times when I go to Thai restaurants the medium is way too spicy but this is was perfect. Service was good despite there only being one waiter for the whole restaurant. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would come back to try something new.

Thai Green Tea: Delicious and had the tea flavor that I was looking for rather than being overwhelmed by the creamer. Tum plara: I don't think the fermented fish sauce is for me... but I could see others enjoying this dish if they enjoy that flavor. I think I would've enjoyed the tum thai more. Pad Thai: Not bad, but I think it was a bit too sweet for me. I prefer my pad thai to be more savory & spicy. Thai Garlic Fish: not pictured here but this was my favorite dish! The fish was huge and crispy, and the accompanying chili lime sauce was so delicious and tangy!

I am so sorry but this was just... ok. Service - amazing! Food - well.. We had to send some beef back because it was impossibly chewy making it difficult to eat. The pad se ew was.. fine. The tiger cry was okay. The moo ping - THE BEST. We honestly should've just gotten two orders of this and been fine! I'm willing to give it another shot, but it won't be my first choice for Thai in the area.

    Roti with Curry Sauce

Had a group dinner at Baan Talay in Katy! Located in the same lot as Crunch fitness this cute restaurant has all the charm and what it may lack makes up in flavor. Service is super friendly and the food is absolutely packed with flavor. I will list my rating for each item that we tried: 1. Roti with curry sauce Taste 3/5 Presentation 4/5 Overall very good roti but it kind of lacked the crunch that I expect at most Malaysian places. The curry was a little sweet but I actually liked it by itself more than with the roti. 2. Wings Taste 4/5 Presentation 5/5 Super crispy and flavorful. Very reasonably priced. The one I had was great but one of our dining companions said that his wasn't crunchy. 3. Crab fried rice Taste 4/5 Presentation 4/5 I wish there was more crab but the flavor was amazing. I would definitely order it again. 4. Papaya salad Taste 5/5 Presentation 100000% I could literally bathe in this. We had medium and it was spicy but not torturous. We also got the spicy one with a level 4 spicy and THAT was hot but still very flavorful. 5. Thai garlic fish Taste and presentation 100% 5 stars I could have literally eaten this whole fish by myself. I loved how crispy the exterior was without being overly salty. The interior was moist and had a great taste. The peanuts really added a lot of texture variation with the garlic flavor becoming more pronounced. The tamarind tasting seafood sauce that it came with is truly a game changer. I am going to dream about this meal for days. The desserts were good but I wish that the mango was ripe and not sour. I will think of this meal for days to come and cannot wait to return! Our server was extremely kind and friendly. And the manager Amy was very knowledgeable and checked on us throughout the dinner service along with the server. All in all an excellent new restaurant in the area and I wish them success for many years to come

Food was okay. The orange chicken was a little dry. The basil rice was good, but a little greasy for my taste. The regular rice was good.

Has anyone tried there Tom yum soup or seafood soup if any?

We have tried the Tom Kha soup and it was delicious! (Yelp directed me to answer your question since I have reviewed this place before, so I hope that was helpful!)

Thai Tea: Sweet, delicious, and exactly what a traditional Thai tea should taste like--no complaints at all. It was rich, refreshing, and one of the highlights of the meal for me. Che Tai: The Che Tai tasted a little too artificial for my liking and was definitely different from the version I'm used to. It may have also seemed less sweet since I was drinking Thai tea alongside it, but overall, this was probably my least favorite drink of the night. Crying Tiger: This was probably my family's favorite dish of the evening. Paired with rice, the meat was flavorful and well-seasoned, though on its own it leaned slightly salty for me. The texture was also a bit too chewy, and I personally would have preferred a crispier bite. Even so, the flavor was still enjoyable, and both my father and brother really liked it. Grilled Atlantic Salmon Curry: The presentation was beautiful, and the salmon had a nice crisp on the outside. However, I could tell it was slightly overcooked, and the meat itself tasted a little bland, almost as if it had been frozen for too long. The Panang curry was comforting and coconut-forward with a creamy texture that I enjoyed, though it lacked the sharper punch I've had from other Panang curries. Lobster Papaya Salad: I liked this dish much more than the seafood salad. The seasoning was mellow, and the fresh young papaya was well-seasoned and refreshing. Unfortunately, the lobster still had a slight fishy taste that didn't sit well with me afterward. We ordered everything mild since my brother can't handle spice. My father thought the salad was too sour, but my brother enjoys sour flavors, so he liked it more than we did. I also personally didn't enjoy the green beans included in the salad. Yum Talay Seafood Salad: This salad had a softer, more acidic flavor, but I wish the taste had been crisper and brighter overall. The sourness felt muted in a way that didn't fully work for me. It was still decent, just not a standout dish for our family. Service & InKind Experience: The service throughout the meal was a big reason why I still gave this place 4-stars. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and already familiar with the fact that we were using InKind, which made everything feel smooth and effortless when it came time to pay the bill. Overall, Thaicoon had beautiful presentation, attentive service, and a few dishes my family genuinely enjoyed. While some of the flavors didn't fully land for me personally, the atmosphere, service, and seamless InKind experience still made it a solid visit.

It's also where I take my out of town visitors- it's that good. Located within a strip mall, but it's got a cute ambience, with low key music, and wallpaper that pretties the place up. My regular order includes their Thai tea, cheese rolls, yellow curry with chicken, pad Thai (wrapped in an omelet- so cool!) and their fried rice. Alllllll of it is so good. Oh whoops and my husband loves their beef drunken noodles. The servers are all super friendly and always helpful with suggestions. I couldn't recommend this place enough.
