Ingredients like kale, avocado, pickled beets, and sunflower seeds paint the menu of this bright, cozy (and cramped) cafe. I opted for the Baba bowl, which wasn't bad, but a touch of salt or another bite of flavor wouldn't have hurt. While the "green goddess" dressing helped, it didn't add much. I also had a taste of my friend's avocado toast, which was good but a tad too lemony. The best part about it was the flakey bread. A cute cafe for a small bite in the neighborhood. You have to come here for the Carny Sandwich. Wow, arguably one of the best bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches I ever had. The eggs are really creamy, the bacon perfectly cooked and all of this goes on a fresh brioche bun from Grand Daisy Bakery. I've stopped by La Baba Cool a couple times since its opening, and I've been charmed by my experience on both occasions. The interior manages to be modern, uncluttered, and well-lit while still offering an incredibly welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The staff engaged me in friendly conversation each time, which I appreciated a lot. I ordered food during my second visit, and was simply blown away by the turkey sandwich with apples and fig jam. I had been expecting sliced deli turkey (and would have been more than happy with it). Instead, the sandwich contained pieces of perfectly cooked, slow-roasted turkey (the owner told me it had been prepared just that morning). The bread was fresh, the fig jam was delicious, and I found myself solidly full after finishing - a rare feat for a cafe sandwich to pull off for me. The coffee was excellent as well (I'm not familiar with the roaster they use). If I lived closer by, I would stop by every morning. Next time I look forward to trying an espresso drink. I live across the street from these guys and went in today for first time. Owner was working the espresso machine and was very nice. As I am an experienced barista myself, I asked a lot of questions regarding the beans and what not. All my questions were answered with a smile, and I didn't feel like our conversation was rushed (a MAJOR plus for me) as it happens more often than it should. shot pulled great and taste was better. Came here to grab lunch. Got the brisket sandwich. It was fine, but didn't suit my preferences -- was a bit too dry, wasn't very flavorful, and there was too much meat vs other stuff. Also thought it was overpriced ($12 for a not-very-big sandwich). I would have gotten a salad but those seemed even more overpriced because they were $12-$13 and an extra $4+ for chicken or turkey.
