These guys provided me much relieved stress when I was trying to plan my temporary move for work in Honolulu. They worked with me through my fluctuating plans until I was able to nail down my dates to travel to Oahu. I appreciated that they were available and open after traditional hours and MOSTLY that I could TEXT them which was super convenient while I was at work and with the time difference. I came for an extended period of time (3 months) and they offered me a discount for paying upfront, so I recommend asking for that if it's an option for you. They are located on the west side of the island in Ewa which was inconvenient but the price was right so I caught the express bus from Waikiki and they picked me up from a nearby bus stop. After all, I only had to travel there twice in 3+ months (once to pickup and once to return) They asked if I wanted the car delivered but there was a fee, so I opted to meet them. Payment was convenient because I was able to pay through my phone and not have to travel to pay in person (traffic is not your friend!!). I appreciated the fact that they did not require a credit card or large deposit which put my fears at ease of them trying to charge me for something I did not agree to. As far as reservations, they book up quickly so I was almost left without a car. I recommend making a reservation as soon as you are sure of your plans. I would highly recommend Baba Rentals for your car rental needs on Oahu. They are a small family run business. They specialize in long-term rentals (1 month or more) of mechanically sound with working AC older model vehicles (5 to 10 years old). I was in contact with Julian who was extremely helpful, patient, informative and readily available seemingly 24/7. I've come to Oahu many times over the last 20 years staying with family and usually borrowing one of their cars. Two previous times I rented similar cars from 2 different older car rental companies which are no longer doing business on the island. Luckily I was able to find Baba rentals to fill my one-month stay for August 2018. My wife and I just needed an older, smaller, decent running, reliable used car with ac to drive for the month. Any of the big rental companies with the newer cars start at $1000 minimum and go up from there. Baba is about half of that. And it was no extra charge to add the second driver. 30 days prior we text them a copy of our drivers license, car insurance card and a $60 refundable deposit made by Venmo to hold the rental. The day I was supposed to pick my car up from Baba, my family told me they had extra cars for me to use. I text Julian of Baba immediately with the news and said I had no problem releasing the $60 refundable deposit to them. Julian just thanked me and wished me a happy vacation. Class act. I was first looking for me to get a car while in Hawaii but at that time short term was not available which was perfect for my parents. Julian was able to accommodate them since they were staying 1 month and 1 day (6/7/16-7/7/16). My parents flight was delayed and I mean DELAYED, but Julian was great about meeting them regardless the time they came in. The car my parents used was the "Silver Bullet" a 4-door Toyota Corolla. The car ran perfect and a great gas saver. Communication was also opened and welcome with Baba Rentals. When I messaged Julian to let him know about the sad and sudden passing of my father he was really thoughtful. Arrangements was made for the drop off of the "Silver Bullet" at a neutral location because that was more convenient for my mom and they had no problem accommodating her. Personal note: Remember I when I said I was first looking for me? I found Baba Rentals threw another site, there were many car rental choices to choose from but for some reason Julian just felt right. After I hooked my parents up with Baba Rentals I continued to look for myself but was not comfortable with any other 'local rentals' Thankfully my Aunt allowed me to use her spare car for my stay. I could not recommend this buisness ENOUGH! They are truly incredible people, so considerate, and flexible! I had been kind of a pain in the butt to deal with, having to extend and change our rental dates so many times, and they were able to work around everything and still had phenominal customer service and showed no frustration with me, even though I wouldn't of blamed them if they did! I never knew that small rental car buisnesses existed, but with my incredible experience, I will NEVER rent from a large rental car company ever again! I was temporarily working on Oahu and did not ever have a need to rent a car because I bought a cheap car to try to save money. That sounded like a good plan until my car decided to literally catch on fire on the highway!!!! My insurance took their time to pay out my claim but in the meantime I needed to get to work. I cannot be late to my job ever, so I will admit I was in a bit of a panic. I started to call places and it was late at night so most were closed and those open were price gouging. An overdue review of a great experience! I have to admit originally there was some anxiety taking the chance in renting from Baba Rentals. But with each communication with Julian that dissipated. Our car was waiting at the airport and performed without letting us down for 6 weeks. An older Nissan Sentra sedan, it met our needs perfectly hauling four adults around and over the island numerous times. Though we never met we never met whoever was at the other end of our texts, the level of 'customer service' was something the big guys might wish for. Julian was responsive when we had some intermittent window issues. All the paperwork we needed for restricted base access was in proper order. We were able to leave our car at the airport without problem. We would not hesitate to recommend Baba Rentals to family and friends. Our rental period was Oct/Nov 2018. Had a great experience renting a vehicle for my long term stay on Oahu. The car was a compact sized car which is what I needed to save on gas and for easy parking in Honolulu. The whole transaction was very easy and straightforward which made my transition to the island a lot easier. The customer service was great and they were available 24/7 and even via text which made it easy to have my all my questions answered and to coordinate pickup and drop-off times. I enjoy supporting small business and especially when they are customer service oriented and willing to accommodate as much as they can. I recommend leaving a voicemail if you do not get an answer. Baba Rentals saved my life lol! My car's transmission gave out and I took it to the dealership to get a quote to repair. They quoted me $4000 to repair it!!!! I had no car to get back and forth to work, so I called a few companies and rates were outrageous during peak summer. Baba Rentals offered me an awesome rate but since it was last minute, they were all booked. They promised to call me back if they could rearrange reservations to squeeze me in and they did!! I rented the "Silver Surfer" for a month in October 2016. I paid the deposit online and everything went extremely smoothly. I met Julian near the airport, picked up the car and returned it a month later. The car was reliable, clean in good condition and ran great with ice cold AC.
