low quality meat and A1 like sauce (just edible)

This is a retroactive post as a warning to others. I mean you can eat it.... I visited Babb Bar Cattle Baron Supper Club during the summer of June 2023. Babb Bar Cattle Baron Supper Club is located right outside of the Many Glacier area of Glacier national park. It was very crowded at dinner time. We had a large part of 8. Seating only took 15 minutes but we had to wait 2.5 hours for our food to come. All of the steaks were of low quality and covered with some sort of A1 like sauce. They were huge steaks but really just didn't hit the spot. For the money we paid, about $35 to $45 a steak (depending on the cut), everyone in my family who had steak was underwhelmed. It came with some vegetables that were soggy and the baked potato was acceptable. After a long day of hiking, we were starving and waiting for almost 3 hours to eat was no fun. The waitress was attentive but we frequently ran out of water. The chairs were hard and most uncomfortable. Our drinks took 1 hour to show up. No compensation was given for our long wait. I was not impressed and would not return.

Point for friendly service. Foods are under average due to new team under training for the new season. The salmon was under cook. The pasta was sweet. I think they refill the salt container with sugar. The inside of the place is very nice with rustic construction and deco. Too bad the food is not satisfying.

We absolutely love this spot! It's only open during the summer season and it's a treat to come here when we are in Montana once a year! Every place setting has a little history or information about the Blackfeet Nation, and the building is also decorated with Blackfeet art, photos, and stories. Love the food. The steaks are juicy and the sauce is so flavorful! The potato is topped with a some green onions and sour cream. I will let the photos speak for themselves!

I'm torn on the review. Staff was attentive and nice. The place was super cool. It was also recommended by a friend that worked at Glacier for over 4 years as his favorite place in the state. Appetizer: Salad was amazing. Honestly might have been one of the best salads I've ever tasted. Main entree: I ordered the Baroness steak with crab meat and baroness sauce. The onion and pepper side was great. And the famous Le Baron Potato was truly amazing. The crab meat was good, my only issue was the medium steak. The steak was very chewy, and seemed like half of it was fat. Couldn't eat half of it. Still a recommend though because my friend loved it so much and it seems very popular. Guess I just got a bad slab of meat since everything else was great.

Service terrible. We waited 15 -20 minutes and the waitress was speaking to a patron about her life. We left.

She made mention that it was locally owned, AND it was the only one of the 3 restaurants she named which was open before 4pm, which is when we were there, so we trekked on over. We arrived behind a large party of about 8 people and were the only other table in the restaurant. They - or should I say he - took our order quickly and were willing to accommodate a special request (to have a breakfast dish after their stated cutoff time due to a wheat allergy; almost everything on the lunch menu is breaded/fried, so I couldn't eat it). It was clearly Native-owned, which I was happy to support. However, the poor guy who took our order was the only one in the place. He was doing everything: stocking, cleaning, taking orders, cooking. We were there for nearly an hour when the other party's food came out. By this point, we had figured out that he was flying solo, so we were sort of hoping our food would come out at the same time. It didn't. We asked if ours had been started yet, and it hadn't. Seeing that we were staying 3 hours from the park, we had to leave to meet up with our family without having any lunch. This could easily have been avoided with a little communication from the get-go: "Hey, a large party just came in ahead of you. Just so you know, it's probably going to be an hour or more before you see any food." We would have left then and had time to get lunch before starting our drive back to Augusta. As it was, we paid for our 1 drink, made do with whatever snacks we had, and hit the road. Can't comment on the food and the guy was super nice, so I hate to leave a not-great review, but I can't imagine what would have happened if 2 or more of the parties from our boat ride had arrived at the same time we had. I think a little work on the staffing side would do wonders.

We pulled in at 20 minutes to close and the guy running things let us know the dining room was closed. That wasn't an issue since we knew it was closing time but I did ask if they had time to make a to-go order. He was happy to oblige and I'm so glad he did. He directed us to a garden area overlooking a water area and we sat hoping to spot a moose. He did tell us they had spotted 2 bears walking through earlier. The outside dining overlooks this same glade making its nice place to watch for wildlife. We'll be back when in the area.

We had to wait a little bit due to a staffing shortage but that's was fine to get out and stretch our legs and look at the BEAUTIFUL gardening and flowers on the property. We were seated outside which was cooler than inside as many places do not have air conditioning in the area. The server was clearly from another country so some of his English was broken. He let us know that it might be a minute since he had just taken a large group's dessert order. He meant no harm and we knew that - cultural differences in speech delivery. We saw quite a few teen aged workers at our time around GNP so we wondered if there's a work program. Anyways, with the view we had, he could take all day. We got our drinks which were so good. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time. My steak was a tad overcooked but it was still delicious. A train came by during our visit which was so fun to watch! Unfortunately, they ran out of the huckleberry cheesecake so I did not get to try that - super bummed! I can't remember how much the bill was, but you expect to pay more in a place like this I guess. Great dinner overall!
