I didn't take it personally at first, until we watched the table behind us get greeted and served while we were still being ignored. I finally had to flag down a waitress just to ask who our server even was. She walked over to the staff huddle (where everyone was conveniently standing around the drink station), and someone eventually came over and said, "Sorry, I didn't see you guys." The absolute lack of care, urgency, or accountability was unreal. And they really would've expected a 20%+ tip for that level of service? Laughable. We got up to leave and happened to pass the manager on the way out. I explained what happened, hoping at least he would show some concern. Nope. He was just as pitiful and disengaged as his staff. Honestly, we should've walked out the moment I sat down in a chair covered in chicken crumbs. Dirty, inattentive, and completely unprofessional from start to finish. Literally walking out of that place and just saying I loved it. I've been here before and loved it, but I'm choosing to write a review now due to one thing. That one thing is a person, her name is Lily. She was very polite and outgoing. She said I looked like a Disney princess when she's literally a MODEL. I had heard about this place from family members for a while & decided to try it on Sunday after church. We were checked in & told the waiting time would be 35-40 minutes & decided to wait it out in their courtyard/backyard. The courtyard/backyard was very cute & whimsical with fans hanging with attached misters. Since it was super hot & extremely humid, those fans actually made a huge difference. The decor outside gave our eyes so much to look at & talk about while we waited. By the time we knew it, our name was called...it was only a 20-min wait time! The ambiance was dark & lightly lit & made for a nice hum of sound even though there a lot of people...families in there. It gave such a family vibe that it immediately settled our hearts. It was wonderful!!! We were seated & within 5-mins our drink order was taken & shortly after that, our food order. Our hostess was amazing & checked on us several times. Also, other hosts/hostessess checked on our table as they past by after helping their tables ! Plus all of them were ultra hospitable Everything was served family style with a salad & biscuits for starters, unlimited veggies & select meat options. We chose the fried catfish, fried chicken & smoked chicken & all the meat was absolutely DELICIOUS !!! The food came out super quick! The fried chicken was seasoned very well & had a delicious crunch to it & was cooked perfectly on the inside. The fried catfish was amazing & ranked top 3 of the fried catfish we have eaten in the past 3 years in Texas! My hubby absolutely the smoked chicken! The veggies were all seasoned well! We're ordered their tart cherry pie for dessert & it came topped with ice cream ! It was very tart & the ice cream balanced it out VERY well! The Pies are runny, and saugy. fix: allow the pies to defrost in the fridge. not pop in a microwave to defrost and serve. please add peach cobbler ( a southern tradition) and a scoop of vanilla ice cream to the menu. I am so thrilled to know this company decides to place their restaurants in cute, downtown like locations. The location here in Cedar Hill is just precious. The restaurant offers 5-7 choices of meat. Choose you own. All the sides come family style to share with whoever you're eating with. The sides are corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, a salad, and biscuits. In addition, you can order a slice of pie as dessert. The meat can be taken to-go once you leave, but the sides cannot be. The to-go container is just a plastic bag, lol. They give so much meat that you will definitely need to take some to go. Everything was really tasty. I was only disappointed in two things: you can't choose your sides. So what made it different today that I had to tell you about? FAITH!!!!!! Our little server did the best job ever. I don't know her from Adam and she is not family. She is just our lucky day. I have not been in years and will say I will probably never go back. The food quality was poor and portions were extremely small for the amount charged. The smoked chicken left me feeling like I was on a forced diet. I think it was the size of a pigeon, almost. The green beans were burnt and bitter. The mashed potatoes were like instant mix with little flavor. I can say at least the corn was good. Biscuits were scarce, only one half way through the meal. We feel like we were ripped off.
