Baby AL's serves the real Maxwell Street Polish and Chicago Italian Beef . I had to travel far to get there but it was well worth it. Very tasty beef and polish sausage. I have been traveling around Atlanta area for a couple of years and finally found a place worth bragging about. This is a real authentic Chicago hot dog and beef stand. I grew up in Chi-town. I've missed the authentic foods since moving to the south. This place takes me home. My wife and I visited today for lunch after finding it on Yelp. I had a beef sandwich lightly dipped with hot giardiniera (pepper salad). My wife had a Chicago dog. Both were outstanding. Everything is cooked to order. The owners are very nice people. Very friendly and helpful The seating is very limited (3 tables 6 chairs). Consider take out. The prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. The best deal could be the 3 piece Chicken Tenders for $3.25. That's a meal in itself. Found this place online and drove down from Lawrenceville to try it out. It is just like the hot dog stands back up in Chicago. No frills, friendly owner, very clean, and great food. All your typical Vienna Beef selections including hot dogs, Maxwell Street Polish, and Italian Beef. Burgers and other choices as well, but Vienna Beef is what you come here for. They even have a tribute Gene & Jude's hot dog named after the classic spot with the fries on the dog. Food was freshly prepared and very good. Only a couple of tables but this food is made to be eaten on-the-go anyway. Definitely worth the drive and I will be a regular here. A real Chicago experience. read more

Finally tried this gem last night! It was superb and even better I like the owner! He was so personable and patient as I studied the menu and asked questions before making a decision. I ordered a chili cheese dog and fries. I have had a hankering for a chili dog for a while now. It is so satisfying to have a craving then fulfilling it. That is exactly what happened when I had the hot dog with the house made chili. The fries were good once I added ketchup to them but I would definitely order them again. Lastly, they have signed up for choices to you delivery services!!! That alone is enough to keep me patronizing their establishment! Ok! I had to create a Yelp account just for my experience here at Baby Al's Chicago Dog. I had the Chicago Dog, because that was a staple back home, at least for me. I still get one each time I go to see the White Sox play. The pickle is always the best I think on any dog, the crunch was like music to my ears. But I couldn't just leave without trying the Italian Beef. I got it heavy dipped with hot peppers. To say that I feel comfortable that I don't have to go home anymore for a fixing is an understatement. I've been there for almost every two weeks like clockwork, if it's not the beginning of the week on Tuedsay, I'll show my face for the end on a Saturday. I went here yesterday for the first time, and absolutely loved it! I got 4 Chicago hotdogs all the way with extra tomatoes and added fries and a drink. When I got my dogs there were 4 tomatoes on each! It's been my experience that "extra tomato" means two these days, so the value is there and I'll no longer have to ask for extra when I go, knowing I'll have two to start, versus the one tomato that's become the norm. Before yesterday there were 2 places that I knew of to satiate my cravings for the best style of hotdogs, those are Bobby G's in Alpharetta and Mikes in Sandy springs, both are a big drive from Lawrenceville. Not only is Baby Al's closer, it is the best dog of the three! The fries weren't near as good as Mikes, and there isn't a full bar like Bobby G's, but that's not really why I'm there. The lady behind the counter was beyond helpful, sweet and cheerful, I occasionally heard the disembodied voice of who I can only imagine is Baby Al from the back, who seemed friendly and upbeat as well. They have gone to great lengths to make the experience as safe as possible for everyone involved during this pandemic which I appreciate immensely. Overall the experience was worth all five stars and the dogs themselves deserve a sixth. I'll be back as soon as they open again, which looks like Tuesday. read more

I patronized this black owned business because it came up on Yelp and I have been craving an italian beef sandwich for quite some time. I usually eat an italian beef sandwich and a Chicago hot dog when traveling to Chicago for work. I placed my order and paid for it by phone. My food was brought to my car within 10 minutes. I ordered the italian beef sandwich dunked in au jus with the hot peppers. The bread was soft and fresh. The beef was thinly sliced, tender and flavorful. The Chicago hot dog was well dressed with raw onions, pickle relish, tomatoes, peppers and mustard on a seeded bun. The crinkle cut fries were hot and crispy. Small place only 2 tables inside so it's mostly good for take out or tailgating it lol . Clean friendly and cheap prices with big portions . I'm very glad I finally gave them a try . I came here yesterday from just driving by tryna figure out wat to get Dragon Daddy to eat.. Ordered the Italian sausage dog and Italian beef dipped in au jus. I didn't know wth au jus was.. Well I kinda did from tv so I wanted to try it. Went to Dragon Daddy shop, it was soaked. We still ate it.. He said I shouldn't have dipped it. I said I didn't know! But the sausage was BOMB!!!! We went on "2 dollar Tuesday" so I tried the $2 special - nothing to write home about - the dog was small and didnt taste any different than a store bought frank. I also wanted to try a turkey dog but of course that didnt fall under the 2 dollar Tues deal, but was twice the price. It was a little better, though not the size and mega taste I was expecting. Now for the worst part - the fries... they were literally swimming in greasy, no joke, I had to lay them out on the table on napkins to dry them out before I could even eat one, and even then they were still super greasy. BABY AL WOULD BE PROUD! We were in the area and looking for something to eat when we noticed this hotdog place. My husband is always in search of a good chili dog so we decided that we needed to stop in and see what they had to offer. This is a tiny little place that reminds me of the "malt stands" I visited as a child. They were always very small and you purchased your food from the window and then sat at the picnic table out front. In this case, you can actually walk inside to place your order and choose to eat in at one of the intimate tables or you can take your order to go. We decided to order and eat in. I went for the chili, slaw dog while my husband ordered the chili dog with fries and a beverage. We both agreed that our beef dogs were very good. Mine was a perfectly balanced bite with well seasoned chili and slightly sweet cole slaw.. My husband's fries were perfect hand-cut fries with the skin on and they do not add any salt which is great for those who are concerned. These dogs are good but thin and you will want to order two especially if you don't typically order sides or a beverage. We were tempted to order additional dogs but decided that we would just get something later that we could take home to eat. The only thing I would change is that I would order everything smoking hot because it just wasn't hot enough for me. This restaurant exists to honor the childhood dream of the owner and his younger brother Baby Al, who is now deceased. Baby Al would be very proud of his big brother who is doing a great job of honoring him and their shared dream. Besides hotdogs, they also have burgers, tacos, fish sandwiches, polish dogs, wings and more.
