Menu and decor is super chill. Really nice atmosphere.

True story! If you don't have teeth or have trouble chewing but love BBQ this is the place for you! I have teeth and I enjoyed everything except the sides (auntie liked the Shak beans) but the fact that people with how ever many teeth you have can enjoy this meat makes it worth stopping by. The prices are super reasonable!! I bought a smoked turkey leg for $10!!! The chef is amazing!! From Memphis! He said the secret sauce is LOVE

This review is all about this place not wanting to serve me because they were closing in 25 mins and would not let me eat my meal inside their restaurant. I could only get it to go because frankly, the lady wanted to go home you could tell. I had just walking a mile to this place because the hotel had told me that it was worth the walk. I walked in the door at 5:14pm they closed on Tuesday's at 5:45pm. There was a lady picking up her order once she did I the lady asked me how could she help me and I said to her I know your closing soon I looked at my phone and I said in 25 mins and she flat out said no. I told her that I had just walked a mile because the hotel had recommended this place but she didn't care she said no I could not eat inside. As I walked out the lady who was there picking up her order said to me, wow that's not right and just shook her head said that that wasn't right. 25 mins to order and eat. I would have been the only one there. The owner should fire that lady for denying me service during hours of operation. Why post hours !!! I walked back to the hotel and spoke to the manager who recommended this restaurant and told him the story. He apologize to me and said he would never recommend this place to anybody ever again !!! Update: The owner says that I was there at 5:46pm. He is not telling the truth. Someone is straight out lying. I walked back to the hotel who recommended me to this place and ordered food. I am attaching the receipt showing the time that I ordered my diner. He is flat out lying about the time that he said that I came in at. Now its making me feel that I was straight out racially profiled and that they did not want to serve me

I 100% recommend this place. The service and staff was great! The food came out within 5 minutes of us sitting down. Not only was it quick, it was hot and great! I was upset that I couldn't finish it and my hotel didn't have a microwave in the room. I ordered the 2 meat platter with ribs, brisket, loaded baked potato and coleslaw. The coleslaw was sweet which is how I like my coleslaw so I was very pleased!

I was told this location had been close for a while and now is back in business.. Headed for lunch today to BBS.. I order myself the 3 Meat plate with two side. Brisket, Chicken Breast, hot link and trying boudin for the first time with a side of corn. The food was all good, I definitely enjoyed the hot link and the chicken. The brisket was a bit on the dry side with just too much fat but with BBQ sauce it gave it a great taste. I tried boudin for the first time and I can say it was not my favorite. The link was nice and had a spice to it. I will definitely come back and try some ribs and pork. The place itself is nice a clean and the counter lady was very polite.

They ran out No ribs which is what I wanted to try , I order 3 meats brisket, pull pork ,cornish hen ...I received dry turkey in place of pork and dry hen ,brisket was good I got a ice cold cup of butter corn and they sealed and tied bag and box so I feel they knew what they gave me was poor in their defense it was a hour before closing but this was my first time here bad first impression unacceptable

    Ribs. That all I need!

I'm back!!! Came to help my daughter recover from fracturing ribs and wanted to let her dog run a bit. I didn't realize the Shak was right by it!! Lucky me!! I didn't have any hesitation about stopping. The Shak is so cool and faster than you can say Baby Back Shak! Ribs were so tasty and meaty. Loved the Shak beans and salad too. When I looked up from eating I noticed lots of great sports memorabilia and heard some awesome jazz playing. What more could you want anyway, well maybe a Coke, Pepsi just ain't my thang.

    Juanita W.

Greeted right away, soft jazz music playing. The brisket is my favorite meat. It is moist and tender, the ribs fall off the bone (reason why not as high as brisket is I do not eat pork ribs. The chicken is cooked well; I prefer more seasoning. The potatoes were cooked more than I prefer; however, it tasted really good. I wanted collard greens; they only have green beens with chicken. So I settled for a tossed salad. The ingredients were fresh! Yes! I will definitely come back for the brisket. Oh yes and the bbq sauce too is tasty sweet and sour. I love the pictures that represent the different aspects of Black culture too!

    Lawrencia L.

I went here based off a recommendation and I was not disappointed. The ribs were tender and the portions were a decent size based off the money you paid. The ribs were flavorful and well seasoned. I can't wait to come back here and try something else on the menu. I ordered online and the food was ready promptly when I arrived.

Food was delicious. Get the Shak Platter , for $20 ( September 2023) my wife and I ate The platter had brisket, chicken, ribs, boudin, and a spicy sausage. Along with potato salad and coleslaw. Plus a pile of bread !! We walked out fat as two ticks on a deers hind side . The cashier was super sweet and the food came out nice and hot. Inside is nice and comfortable with plenty of tables. You can also get your order to take away. When I'm back in Dallas, definitely, without a doubt returning!!

My friend absolutely loved the burnt ends. He liked them so much that after we finished the first order, he went back and got a second one, plus some brisket and elote. I thought everything was good, but I will say the menu felt a little limited. This is definitely one of those places where I am glad I finally tried it because it is part of the local DFW BBQ experience, but it is probably not somewhere I would specifically seek out again. That said, if someone wanted to go, I would go again without complaint. I DO want to try the Burndt end bloody mary!

The vibe in this place is really great. The people are friendly. Downtown Plano is cool. The restaurant and bar area are clean, well-attended, and the food and drink are all good. So why only 3-stars? To be fair, I came here on a weeknight around 6:30pm, which is not the best way to judge a BBQ place. I will try to come back on a Friday at lunch time, and I hope things will be epic. Bottom line, I wasn't blown away by the meats! They were well cooked, but the flavor just didn't impress. The Sause (sorry, I'm a Rudy's loyalist) was tasty, but didn't blow my mind. A nice sweet + smoky flavor that worked better with the Spare Ribs than the Brisket. (Another minot note -- I know a lot of BBQ places eschew Baby Back Ribs for Spare Ribs. Lockhart only does Spare Ribs.) Would I come back? 100% Would I recommend that you go here? 100% I have to say the bartender was terrific, and the pit masters were super friendly, so no dis on the staff. I was just hoping for "oh my god" BBQ and didn't quite get there. Still a great visit.

The brisket and pork ribs were decent, but honestly pretty dry and lacking in flavor when compared to some other BBQ places in DFW. For the price, it's pretty similar to other BBQ in the area. The Texas Twinkie is a jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and brisket and wrapped in bacon. It was my favorite item as the cream cheese and bacon balanced out the spiciness of the jalapeño. The mac n cheese was also delicious with the perfect amount of spice. The service was great too as they made a mistake on my order and quickly corrected it. This time, I had birria tacos on my mind. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - I love the Dallas Farmer's Market, and Hurtado is the perfect restaurant to occupy this space. There is a line that steadily moves, nice outdoor and indoor seating, and if you walk towards the back you can see all the smokers. If you visit on a weekend, try to arrive before noon to avoid long lines. 1 Star. Service - You place your order, take a number, and your order is brought out to you. While you don't get to see the staff cut your meat in front of you, they are very fast and efficient. There are also Hurtado staff who will clear plates off your table. Great people here. 1 Star. Food - I came for the Birria tacos. Hurtado uses their smoked brisket, which shredded and paired will all things that make Hurtado special - Mexico flavors (cilantro, onions, and that beefy consommé). I also ordered a two-meat plate with brisket and bacon burnt ends. The brisket is great (and well represented in many Yelp reviews). On this visit, the bacon burnt ends stole the spotlight. A well-seasoned and smoked pork belly cube will melt in your mouth. I washed down my meal with the Tres Leches Banana Pudding and ended an incredible meal. One last very important note, Hurtado is a great value. My two tacos, 2 meat plate, and desert were $50. P.S. I split this meal with my son. I love food but I'm not a glutton. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I've been to the OG Hurtado in Arlington, the one at Globe Life Field, but the location in the Dallas Farmers Market is my favorite of them all. Yes, I will be back! 1 Star.
