I'm never on this end of Silver Spring... but a friend who performs video game jazz (yes) had a performance here. It has a very nice outdoor area, and an indoor area with a long row of high tables and a long bar. I sat at the bar for the best view, and they ID'd me the second I sat down... it's been a while outside of a security person lol. Anyways, I decided to try the samosas and their potstickers...both were lovely appetizers. I could've gotten even more, but I didn't need all that. I've been hearing things about their sandwiches... perhaps I'll try one next time! The place reminded me of Big Daddy's in the sense that it was connected to a beer & wine shop. They have quite the variety of things, and there's a takeout spot in the back of it -- in fact, all the food seems to come from back there. It wasn't on the menu I was looking at, but they definitely have pizza. I'm going to have to try that next time I go. Quench! is a local staple. Half of it is a great wine and beer shop with a small but mighty selection, and the other half is the Tap Room. Service is fine, usually pretty quick. They have a solid alcohol selection with interesting tap beers as well as a variety of cocktails. I have recently ordered the margarita which is gigantic, but not very flavorful. This place had the potential to be our local go to. Tried to order a White Russian and although they had all the ingredients we were told it wasn't one of their listed cocktails. So despite having a full bar they aren't a full bar. Ok no problem we held out hope for food. Ordered a Philly cheesesteak, meatball sliders and onion rings. The Philly cheesesteak was dry, grainy and not cut right. It needs to be shaved meat and not enough cheese. The meatballs lacked sauce and cheese. The onion rings lacked flavor beer or otherwise. Quench is bout to be my new Friday night hangout spot lol. I had such a good time a this cute place. I wouldn't have ever known it was there if I hadn't been in the area looking for wine but I'm glad I found it lol. I hate to leave a bad review for any business but this place is TERRIBLE! Hard to overstate how bad it is. The drinks are expensive. Beer is $7-12 and cocktails $12-15. Happy hour is only 10% off. I had an original mojito and a caipirinha and they were so weak I don't think they put the liquor in. I had the chicken pot stickers and they were equally bad. They were watery and】 flavorless. Hm...not bad at all! Santucci's is my go-to for delicious subs, but this place isn't far behind in terms of taste/value/location/quality. The hoagie rolls are very large, and stuffed with tasty ingredients (like cold cuts, philly steak, cheese, fresh veggies). My only complaint would be about the uncooked onion (and the thickness of it), but that's a personal preference and in no way diminishes the flavor/quality of their food. It also helps that upon entering, you're looking at rows upon rows of various wine. This isn't a place that focuses on 10-15 types of wine, in bulk. This is a place that easily carries over 100 types. Who doesn't like that? Red, white, rosè...and if you're bored with that, there's a section with craft beer and hard ales. All the bases are covered. It's actually perfect for a casual dinner in. Grab a few sandwiches in the back (which are made fresh to order), a couple bottles of wine, and one of those delicious nougat treats at the checkout. Even their chips are gourmet. Avocado-oil Chilean lime kettle chips and Olive-oil rosemary kettle chips, among others. Really? That's just awesome. You also have the option of dining in, where there's 20 types of beer on tap. There's a tasting tomorrow (Friday), which starts at 7 and live music that begins later (until close). It didn't seem like an every day type of thing, but those taps are back there. I would give bonus stars if I could. This is my favorite place in Silver Spring! Great food, awesome service, they're always rotating the beers on tap with a fun variety, and they have a full bar/cocktail menu (which is my favorite) as well. Can't recommend it enough! read more

The outside of this place really makes you wonder what you're going to find inside -- and if you go in the wrong door, you'll find yourself inside a wine and beer store. Going to the right, you'll find the Tap Room. Their hours are sporadic, and you may have to call ahead to find out if they're actually open -- regardless of what their posted hours are. They'll sometimes close early if its slow, which can be frustrating, and the only reason I don't give them five stars. I have been stopping in every so often for a drink for a while, and I have had their appetizers. You can get things like a personal cheese board, a personal meat board, a mix of the two (which comes with a spread of some sorts, one night it'll be this delicious olive spread, the next night it'll be cranberry). The actual selection of meats, cheeses, and "accouterments" varies, so I highly recommend asking just what they are -- I've gotten cheeses I didn't care for. That's on me, though -- there are (very few) cheeses I don't like, and they just happened to include them. A word of warning, though -- the brie board isn't baked our anything, and is literally a giant wheel of brie cheese. It's good, but a bit much! Having judged a book by its cover, I figured that Quench would not be a good place to eat dinner. It's a great place to stop in for a drink or appetizers, but it just doesn't give off a "have dinner here" kind of vibe. A friend and I were starving last night, and stopped in for a quick drink and snack, which turned into dinner and desserts. The appetizers and drinks were what we expected -- as good as usual. But, then the dinners came out. She had a turkey melt sandwich, and I had the sausage shepherd's pie. To say they good would be an understatement -- it was honestly one of the best dinners I've had in a while. The shepherd's pie was so good I nearly burnt my trachea trying to inhale it. I'll definitely go back for it again. Dessert was even better. I ordered a bread pudding, and it came out with a huge scoop of iced cream. The pudding itself was delicious, and the ice cream just made it. I may have a great dinner place. read more

Nice clean family owned and run bar that serves good bar food, The Simosa's are great. We dont frequent it because honestly it's a little pricey for drinks compared to the other local watering holes. The is always a nice mix of people young and old. They have seating outside when the weather is good and often has drink specials. I was told that they have bands but I have never been there when there is one. They also have a package store connected to the bar for your convenience. The bar staff is friendly as is the owner who you will always find sitting at the bar. In summary, I decent goto place when all the others are closed. read more

Very nice tap room, exceptional selection for Montgomery County, had a DC brau Belgian pale ale, with a Reuben sandwich. And watched Michigan play Penn State. You can see the picture of the sandwich I had, provolone replaced the Swiss. The bartender was very attentive, it was a Saturday night with about eight people in the place. This review is for "The Tap Room." I don't drink beer but my husband does. For Christmas last year I bought him a fancy "growler" and we have it filled at a number of area breweries and craft beer stores. The Tap Room is closest to us so we went there recently. To have the growler filled was over twice as much as at other local breweries, e.g. Rockville, Olney and Brookville. No idea how many others get their growlers filled but just to let you know this place is expensive. read more

Let me start by talking about the biggest surprise, the wonderful deli they have in the back. They made us 2 wonderful sandwiches that were made with care.....and delicious! The wine selection is also good. Prices are reasonable. The connected bar sometimes has live music. On Fridays baked goods are sold. Interestingly there are 2 other beer/wine stores at the same intersection in Colesville & 4 more just a short drive to the south. This is clearly the best of them all. read more

I admit...its very strange going to a wine bar that doesnt let you taste the wine before pouring a whole glass and charging you. I asked to taste the regular priced Riesling because my friend ordered the happy hour one and i wanted to see the diff and i tasted hers and the owner told me no. He said it was better but i ended up not thinking it was and at $4 versus $8 i switched to the pinot instead after. They do have a liquor bar my friend got patron. They say lemon juice and lime juice is used in the margarita but its sour mix instead of the actual juices so they should update that. My original menu didnt even have a wine list so i told the owner who was our server he said thanks for helping him find that and i said it should come w a free drink and he said no. Lol. We ordered the share plate w meat and cheese that was pretty big but covered in like 3 loaves of sliced toasted baguette lol. 3 pieces of each cheese and maybe 5 of each meat and some spreads it was pretty good. My friend got the crab and corn dip but didnt feel there was any crab in it the owner said he knows it was in there because he paid for it. Lol. They closed at 10 and overall cute vibe and ok service just some minor quirks, but we will prob be back read more

The beer selection is not bad. The main reason we go is that it's convenient for many people after work. The happy hour deal isn't that great though (only a $1 off per beer) and the beers are still pretty pricey. Also the food here is just mediocre. I would recommend just sticking with the beers. They also have a beer shop next door which is crazy overpriced. While they do have a decent selection, I haven't seen anything here that you couldn't get at a Whole Foods, Total Wine, or local beer craft beer store for a better price. If this is the only place convenient for you then I get buying beer from here. But if you're willing to drive to any decent local beer store, you can find similar/better quality beer for a cheaper price. read more
