First time here and the food and drinks were good, the portions are big as well lol. Staff is very friendly and gave great recommendations. The place is relatively on the smaller scale so not a lot of seating. I noticed a lot of people come to get food to go so it is pretty popular. One thing I really like about this place is the special flavor syrups ( I think that's what they said they were) you can put in your matcha or other drinks!

This was my second visit to Babychan and it was a much better experience than the first. Admittedly, the first time was shortly after they opened, so they have had a lot of time to work out the kinks. This is a Japanaese-inspired bakery and cafe. You can either make a reservation or just go and order at the counter (there might be a line). This time we made a reservation and ordered some hot food as well as pastries. We tried a few items: - various pastries including a pettanko croissant, cinnamon roll, almond miso bun, and matcha danish. Favorites were pettanko croissant and matcha danish. - bonito fries which are delicious - kabocha salad - this was my first introduction to japanese pumpkin and i loved it. It's a really well balanced salad - breakfast sandwich - oh my god yes. The bun is perfection. And that tamagoyaki egg! My mouth waters just thinking about it. - strawberry sandwich - It wasn't my favorite strawberry sandwich I've had. When I was in Japan last year, every morning I'd go to 7/11 across the street and buy one and put it in our fridge so I could have it in bed that night (they'd always be sold out at night). I've been hunting for that feeling ever since. This scratched the itch, but guess I'll just have to go back to Japan (coming fall 2026 haha). The inside is cute, not too loud, and you can get your parking validated. Can't really go wrong with that.

I stopped by Babychan shortly after arriving in Nashville, looking for a light snack and some tea--and it turned out to be the perfect first stop. The crunchy cabbage and seaweed salad was incredibly flavorful despite its simplicity, with just the right balance of texture and freshness. The karaage was equally impressive--crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and clearly made with care. It was an ideal snack stop! Although it was super busy inside and the patio tables were filled, there were some tables in the plaza where we were able to sit while we enjoyed our food.

Reservations are a must if you are wanting to sit down and eat. They have a line where you can order bakery items and the to-go menu. Went on a Sunday morning around right at 10am and was greeted with a line right at the door but it moved fairly quick. I was able to place an order within 20 mins and another 15 mins to receive the food. Ordered the Strawberry Yuzu lemonades, Beef Curry Rice & Chicken Katsu Sandwich. I've never had beef & curry so good in my life. Very savory but not heavy. The chicken sandwich was fried crispy and the slaw compliments it real nice. The lemonade wasn't super sour and had the right amount of strawberry. Give this place try. The parking garage also has free 1 hour parking.

If there's one place in Nashville I was both nervous and eager to visit, it's Babychan. Reservations are a good idea if you want to avoid waiting. Location: The café is in one of the most serene parts of the city, overlooking the Cumberland River. They have plenty of parking, and the first hour is free. Bites & Sips: For an appetizer, I ordered the chicken karaage, which came with curry mayo. First of all, the chicken was perfectly crispy, and there were sliced pickled cucumbers on top - just delicious! For mains, my partner ordered the breakfast sandwich, which he devoured in no time. I got the egg curry tart and an onigiri. I really loved the egg tart, which was so flavorful and fresh, and the onigiri was equally delicious. For drinks, my partner ordered the Hokkaido latte, which was quite good, and I had to get the strawberry ceremonial matcha. Unlike many matchas I've had before, the one at Babychan was barely sweet, just the way I like it, with a really premium mouthfeel. Service: I really appreciate how fast the service is! The café handles a huge influx of diners, but the Babychan team does a great job managing everything. I loved Babychan, and it's definitely one of those places that's completely worth the hype.

I adored kisser and this lived up to generational standards. WOW! No words. Nothing was below an 8/10. Here's what we tried: -chicken katsu Sando: 9.5/10 - this wasn't too heavy... it was just right. The chicken was crispy even after sitting in the car and the coleslaw was a great pairing. The buttery bread was also just coming through amazingly. -crunchy salad: 9/10 - I thought this was good but my friend absolutely ADORED it. It is very tasty, I will say. Lots of texture, some salty seaweed goodness, and the dressing, whatever it was, was delish. -breakfast sandwich: 9/10 - this was a wild experience... the patty tasted EXACTLY like a dumpling! In a sandwich, it was wild. And the yuzu mayo... just wow. -hazelnut croissant: 9.5/10 - the croissant was perfectly caramelized with sugar. Crunchtastic. The ratio of ganache on top was also amazing (we love chocolate lol). -taro donut: 10/10 - PERFECTION. The perfect texture. So light, both the donut itself and the filling. FILLED TO THE BRIM with lovely and subtle taro filling. -Japanese soufflé cheesecake: 8/10 - I'm not a cheesecake person but the texture was marvelous and the flavor was also fruity / citrusy. Yum! The only "dissapointing" thing were the drinks but that was just because they really just tasted like normal lattes and we expected more excitement and novelty there. Definitely will come back and recommend to everyone I know!

Located in a once abandoned-looking warehouse, now trendy-modern complex, this Japanese-inspired bakery/brunch spot was a nice way to start my Nashville (2nd) trip. Mi amiga & I had a reservation that we arrived early to. There is a large open-seating area in the front where your doggies can hang too. Noticing the cute decor of cats & books everywhere, the gender-neutral restrooms were even cuter! Our server was kind & sweet, though I forgot to get her name. Mi amiga ordered the breakfast sandwich & sesame Swiss roll which were yummy & the perfect size. I ordered karaage, egg salad sando which I added salmon roe on top, & an iced matcha + espresso + strawberry which tasted interestingly satisfying altogether. Thank you, Babychan.

A very cozy environment, perfect for morning coffee and a bite. They offer a wide range of Japanese inspired baked goods and coffee. The seating inside filled up pretty quickly, so arrive early if you are with a larger group. The curry egg toast was great. I think I would have enjoyed it even more if there were an option to toast or warm it up. The breakfast sandwich has a nice blend of sweet and savory. I've never had a miso coffee before. Personally, I was not a fan, but I do not think it was objectively bad. It just was not my preferred flavor, but glad I tried it at least.

One of my new favorite restaurants in Nashville! I love their other restaurant, Kisser, so I knew I needed to try their new spot. As soon as you walk in the host greeted us, and let us know our table would be ready soon. We were sat right at the time of our reservation and greeted by our wonderful server. The interior is small and cozy with inside seating for a full dining experience and tables outside to enjoy treats from their case. We started with the kobocha salad and bonito fries. The salad was perfectly dressed; the tangy dressing balanced out the sweetness of the kobocha. The fries could have had a little more sauce, but the bonito flakes on top added a fun mouthfeel. My partner and I also tried the salmon chirashi bowl, unagi bowl, and doria. The star of the meal was the unagi bowl! The eel was perfectly cooked, topped with crisp cucumber and nori to balance out the umami flavor of the eel. The salmon chirashi bowl was fresh, and perfectly plated so every bite had a mix of toppings. The salmon was delicious. The doria was unlike any dish I'd had before, but was a delightful surprise. The cheesy rice paired perfectly with the seafood flavors. I cant wait to come back and try their pastries and matcha!

Overall: Really enjoyed the pastries here! It was so nice to have a Japanese bakery here in Nashville and the standouts for me were definitely the matcha (strawberry) and their curry egg tart! Also got the strawberry sandwiches (very filling), the black sesame roll, and savory hot dog bread. Service: Food came out quickly, especially for a larger group like ours -- would recommend making a reservation for indoor seating as it gets pretty busy! Ambiance: Very cute and cozy inside, we came shortly after the snow so it was also nice and warm.

Incredible Authentic Japanese bakery and lunch spot!! I've been here a couple of times already and love that there's always something new on the menu. Great seating outside and inside. I made a really good haul this time because every item I got was soooo delicious. On the lunch menu, shrimp sando is a must if you like shrimp. The milk bread is perfectly toasted and the shrimp is full of flavors with scallion and masago eggs. The curry beef rice was so flavorful and everything inside the rice bowl was perfect. I loved this dish a lot. For the pastries, matcha and red bean pastries were reallly delicious. Strong matcha and read bean flavors. The croissants were perfectly crisp and only slightly sweet. If you are looking for a savory dish, get the chili crisp egg puff. Get it heated. Yummm! Super efficient with ordering and waiting for food. I got everything to go, but I can't wait to come back and dine in. The owners Leina and Brian are the absolutely kindest and best! They validate parking too if you dine in for 2 hours and the parking garage already offers 1 hour free without validation.

The shop is a classic cute cafe -- with plenty of seating outside as well. There's an hour free parking in the nearby garage, or free street parking a block over from the store. The staff were friendly! Although it was busy, the service was prompt and kind. Note: proper seating for meals fills quickly! I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time, or preparing to wait a while. We got food from the bakery case instead-- 2 pettanko croissants and the egg curry tart. The pastries were all very well done!! Flavorful, but still flaky and soft. I only wish I got another egg curry tart to go Would definitely recommend !

    Karaage

We went on a Saturday afternoon at 1pm, didn't have reservations which was a mistake as there was a 1.5 hr wait for a table. It's a little unclear what the setup is when you walk in and it's a tight space so you will probably knock into someone on accident if it's the weekend. However, you could still order at the counter to get food and drinks to go. The seating outdoor is first come first serve and you don't have to get seated, so on a nice day it would have been okay. It just so happened that the day we went it was misty and cold, not their fault of course. We went ahead and ordered food since we were there and had been wanting to try it. I got the Karaage, Bonito Fries, Sausage Roll, and one of the cookies (chocolate, seaweed, sesame seeds), and the Okinawa Latte. Everything came out pretty quickly which was great. The latte was very good, the fries and karaage were too. However, while the food was good they weren't very flavorful. The karaage could have been a little crispier with more seasoning. The fries were well made, but with all the seaweed and the bonito flakes I was expecting more of a flavor bomb. If anything it made me wish the seaweed and bonito was replaced with good old fashioned salt. Same with the cookie, while it was different and inventive, i think I prefer sea salt to the sesame seeds and seaweed. That's just me though, I'm sure others may love that the ingredients aren't the usual. The sausage roll was good, but like everything else not something I'd make a trip back to get again. The service was friendly and everything came out quickly for take out. Not sure about dine in service though. There's 1 hr free parking in the parking garage, not sure if they validate parking for longer.

The fondant version is what we got complete with mis-spelling and child like painted on details. After notifying Kelly that we were not happy with the presentation she proceeded to text a bunch of photos of cakes she's done that turned out great, incessantly defending her sub-par work. She blamed the extreme heat for inability to complete as ordered, they tried putting it in the freezer to keep it cold but just too hot out. She said she would have directed us differently as far as type of cake decor if she had known the weather would be so hot- we ordered this cake far in advance and the the heat wave was anticipated days before we arrived. It really just seems like the type of detail we wanted was not something this bakery is capable of doing. We had the cake delivered to the house before we got there which was super convenient. Only got concerned with this after Kelly told us to make sure to lock our doors at night since we were in a "bad" neighborhood. Since the bakery had the code to our doors and she was texting this late at night, this comment was received as threatening and we became concerned for our safety. The customer service and service recovery is something this bakery really needs to work on, we will NEVER be working with them again. Only positives... She did acknowledge that the order looked very rushed and gave us 10% refund. The cake tasted great, but just not worth the money in my opinion.
