My boyfriend and I love going to Bacchus on the Bayou, even though we live closer to Bacchus on the Bluff. The food here is consistently better, and the oysters, especially, just taste fresher here than the other one. However, for whatever reason, the last two times we've been here, we've just had some miserable waitresses. The time before this one, our waitress had been crying and was walking around teary-eyed, but still managed to give us impeccable service. This time, though, was by far the worst service I've ever received in my life. The waitress we had today was just almost rude. There was no smile at all, no awareness, and no patience - just nothing. At times, she would start walking away before we finished talking and would not give us eye contact. I'm not sure what's going on behind the scenes here, but would highly recommend that she go through another round of training, or maybe find another job that she actually enjoys. If we were tipping just based on service, I would say we received the bare minimum. Being the person my boyfriend is, he refused to give less than a 20% tip, because he knows that restaurant and bar staff are not paid especially well, but I really do feel like some effort has to be made. I haven't felt the need to write a review on Yelp again until now, but the service today was just excruciatingly painful. When I had commented to my boyfriend that maybe she was having a bad day, he even said that there was no reason for her to be taking it out on us. Too many issues in one meal to believe it was maybe just an "off day". I understand that Mother's Day (and the sun shinning) brings in a bigger crowd, but given that the restaurant was advertising a Mother's Day brunch AND they didn't even change the menu from their standard brunch menu, that they would be more prepared. We were seated right away (we did call a head of time to give them a heads up about our group size [10], even with the understanding of no reservations and first come first serve). Drinks were ordered and then brought out randomly and just left in the middle of the table, never with the person who ordered. NEVER offered a refill on anything. Not on water, sodas or even alcohol. Food order was placed pretty quickly. Waitress even mentioned that the Beef Debris PoBoy is good in flavor but that it's the most returned and or disappointed menu item when ordered in larger groups (I believe because it's wet). I took her recommendations and ordered 3 side items asking for them all to be together as a meal. Food is delivered and quite a few things were wrong or missing. Burger - missing standard toppings & over cooked to a hockey puck. Several missing items - meals and sides. The food runners were very confused and couldn't even speak when we tried to address the messed up food. Still no drink refills offered and the waitress was gone for so long we couldn't address the missing meals for a while. The food runners never said anything about the issues. Again, I get it, it's Mother's Day, but a suggestion was made (not requested) and then the alternative was incredibly messed up. Little apologies for any of the missing item issues and then the bills were all messy. None of these issues pointed to the kitchen so it's the rare time I don't appreciate an auto gratuity. read more

We stopped here from a recommendation from a local and this place has amazing daily specials and great food as well. We stopped in on Wednesday and they had a shrimp platter for $12.50. Eight shrimp 9 grilled as I'm not sure the chef can count (Ha ha) and besides grilled you can get them blackened or fried. They were cooked perfectly and their house margaritas were pretty good too. Our waiter was attentive and friendly though out our meal and we topped it off with a piece of "crack" pie which was a takeoff on pecan pie ala mode and was pretty amazing. Our second visit to this terrific little spot near Ocean Springs. We chose to sit at the bar and our bartender took wonderful care of us. I decided on their old-fashioned while my wife tried their blackberry smash. Both drinks were delectable! We were there during their happy hour, so we enjoyed their appetizers at half price! We opened with seared Aji. The presentation was spectacular and the taste was superb! I decided on the fried green tomatoes for my main course on my wife just went for the Caesar salad. The daily special board located behind the host stand offers a simple but perfect right amount of food. The shrimp comes already deveined and peeled ready to eat. Nice casual atmosphere. It was a weekday lunch and it wasn't busy. The outside patio was huge and had a big bar. I bet it's a fun place on the weekend! Came here with a group from work and everyone left impressed! It's in the old McElroy's location, just over the Ocean Springs bridge, and sits right on the water so you can get there by car or boat. Their grilled oysters were fantastic and a good size, plus the debris fries had a lot of meat and cheese. I opted for the black and blue wedge salad that had a generous portion of everything, and others got stuff like po-boys that all looked great. I also got some bread pudding for dessert and it was very good. One thing that really stood out here was the service. It was a little busy but we were still regularly checked on, our drinks never went empty, and the manager even came by to see how things were. They also charge a credit card fee which is no issue but kind of strange. All and all, did not get well fed, taste was mediocre and it was costly. Not the best seafood experience I've ever had. Service was friendly but slow, and the ambience was nothing special. We got an order of a dozen gris gris oysters and they were very tasty. That's about where the compliments end. My main was the catch of the day: redfish. It was served on a plate of potato and sausage hash, which did not mesh with the flavor of the fish in the slightest. The fish was topped with shrimp, which were alright, but the whole thing had a red, almost relish like, sauce that did not help the flavor at all. The flavor contrast was so poor I couldn't even finish the whole dish, and I was very hungry that day. Things got worse when I got home. I ended up running to the bathroom and probably lost two pounds, and so did the other who sampled my leftovers. Great if you have constipation, but that's its only plus. read more

All were bad but the gris-gris in particular were poorly prepared. 3 pieces of very stale cold bread for a dozen oysters then when I asked for a little more bread... which I had not tasted the sub-par first batch of 3 yet...I was brought 5 more pieces of the same inedible bread that had not been toasted at all much less yesterday like the other probably was. Obviously, not chef driven food. Not even good cook driven food. Avoid this place. In Ocean Springs there is no excuse for having food this poorly prepared. read more
