Ok here it goes. This place is truly unique in a special way. It's atmosphere and ambiance are very interesting. It's like where many senior citizens go to. But please don't let this discourage you from going. The food is good the people nice and courteous. Anyone remember the Seinfeld episode where Jerry says to his parents while visiting in Miami, "I'm not going to the early bird special to have a steak at 4 o'clock". Enjoyed a wonderful lunch here. Nice cozy atmosphere . Server was efficient, pleasant, and a real joy. I had the chicken fried steak lunch special with cornbread dressing and hush puppies. CFS was tender, crispy, and juicy. Dressing was very good as were the puppies. MY friend had ordered the corn nuggets which were really good. All good was just like mama cooked at home. While I was there the owner Rodney was actively on the floor interacting with customers. I had the "Walkers Sidekick" and everything on the plate was freshly prepared and outstanding! food is good. The only thing that annoyed me was the club house was not cut in quarters or half. The next day I ordered a BLT to go and to please cut in half. Got home and sandwich was not cut. I kept going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. On one hand, the food was very meh. On the other hand, the service was excellent. As I said, the service was great due to our server, whom I believe had the name of Amanda. (Hope I got that right!) She was super friendly and seemed to enjoy being there. (Nothing worse than getting a server who you can tell would rather be anywhere but work) Sadly, the food was very bland. I started out with boneless wings. They were just ok. I had the meatloaf for the main course and I just wasn't particularly impressed. I could of gotten a TV dinner one of the same quality. Once again, it just meh. The mashed potatoes tasted like the healthy ones my Mom used to make when I was a kid, literally just potatoes and a little milk. I'd recommend doing a bit more with those. Sour cream, chives, anything! The fries are clearly store bought. Which is annoying since you pay more for more sides. I'm always more impressed when French fries are hand cut and fried. That's just me. Also, maybe I'm crazy, but the portion size could of been a bit bigger. Solid three star restaurant, maybe we chose unwisely for menu items but they weren't all that spectacular. One saving grace was the homemade biscuits, they were fantastic. However my grits were lukewarm as was my country fried steak. Run-of-the-mill country fried steak ordered from a supplier, gravy was bland. If your COVID-19 conscious you probably wanna avoid this spot. Neither the Cook or any of the servers were wearing masks, and the tables were not distanced. read more

Stopped by this cute little place in town while walking around Ocean Springs... nice decor with really beautiful wall art. Good variety on breakfast (8-10:30) menu. Decided on the country fried steak combo.... hand cut and perfectly seasoned... came to the table crisp but juicy throughout... half way through the meal, server brought me a mini gravy boat with more country gravy.... coffee was kept filled and we left happy and bellies filled.. Happy & Juicy end of summer getaway weekend to Ocean Springs started yesterday. Jeff wanted more than coffee, we were heading to blue dog cafe for the 1st time but Lancaster's caught our eye. So we decided to try here instead. It was awesome. Clean wit tables social distanced. Our server Kallie has a great attitude and was super friendly. The coffee was hot (for Jeff) & iced for me. The food was great too. Jeff got the Sassy Sampler (Chandler would love it) I got the Hippie Sandwich add avocado and a hazy brown pattie that started my Saturday off right. Five of us just had lunch and we were all very happy with what we had. The boiled shrimp was peeled and cooked perfectly, as were the vegetables (purple hulled peas). Food , atmosphere, and service are great. I have not had a bad experience and I love their hamburger steak with mashed potatoes. This is so good. This is one of my favorite places in Ocean Springs! Chicken pot pie on Wednesdays is amazing! And their homemade salad dressings are wow! Best thing is, they will give you free taste samples of all the dressings to help you decide. I've been here twice, both times getting the Chicken Caesar salad. It is very good. You can tell they grill the chicken fresh, something about that charred taste that changes everything. The place seemed like they may have been short staffed and he may have have been the only waiter that day but we lacked for nothing and certainly wasn't affected by it if that was the case. I can't say enuff good things about the waiter. Now on to the food- I was very pleased with the prices to start. We got the fried cheese appetizer and it was so yummy. Fried perfect- taste delicious. I ate so much of it I should of not had room left for my meal but I managed lol!! Next - my daughter ordered chicken and waffles but they was out of waffles for the day so she just went for chicken basket. It was the biggest chicken strips I have ever seen but more importantly they was seasoned very well and the cooked to perfection!! I ordered the chicken fried chicken and three sides, my mom ordered fried pork chop and one side. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. This little restaurant is simply lovely. I came here for lunch today with my soon-to-be MIL. She ordered the special of the day, the chicken fried steak (I had a bite and it was delicious.) and I got a burger with avocado and a fried egg plus a side of potato salad. I was warned that my burger would take an extra few minutes, as they are prepared fresh, and the wait was certainly worth it. The burger was hot, fresh, delicious, and absolutely humongous. I knew as soon as it came to the table that I would only be able to eat half. I put the other half in a to-go box, and will happily eat it for lunch tomorrow. The Cobb Salad is a classic and made from scratch; no chicken or salad comes from a bag here. The Sassy Salad is full of seafood with plenty of lush lumps of real crab. I had eaten in the Washington Ave location a few times and really enjoyed it. I decided to try out the new location when I realized they were closed. I wasn't sure if it was permanent or temporary, so I came to Yelp to find out. I didn't find out the answer to that question, but I did start reading the reviews and the recent ones were so bad I thought that perhaps they HAD closed permanently. When I discovered they were open again, I decided to stop in for lunch, despite the lousy reviews. What I found was what I can only describe as a mixed bag. I ordered one of the daily lunch specials. Since it was Friday, one of my choices was the fish of the day, which was catfish. I ordered it blackened, added mashed potatoes & gravy and fried okra as my sides. For bread I had a choice of hush puppies, cornbread, or a dinner roll. I chose the cornbread. I waited what I thought was a bit longer than I should have for my food, but it wasn't an excessively long wait. I sipped my tea and looked around to see if the restaurant was as dirty as some people had written. Other than the fact that the floor could have used a good sweeping, I found it to be acceptably clean. I received my food, and when I saw what I thought were two giant hush puppies I told the server I had ordered cornbread, not hush puppies. She said no, that IS our cornbread. We deep-fry our cornbread. ???? But I'm always willing to try anything. I asked her to bring me some butter and after she left, I pulled one of my "cornbreads" apart and took a bite. This was neither a piece of cornbread OR a hush puppy - it was a hunk of tasteless, mushy, undercooked cornmeal. So I decided I'd ask for a roll instead when she came back with my butter. She never did. Nor did she ever check on me AT ALL. I then took a bite of the catfish, fearing the worst. Boy, what a turnaround from the gooey mess I had just tasted. It was absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. Just wonderful. The mashed potatoes and gravy (I got brown gravy) was also extremely tasty. The fried okra was a bit soggy, but not terrible. So that sort-of made up for the "cornbread." I was getting very low on my iced tea but I still saw no sign of my server. The odd thing was that I was sitting in the front part of the restaurant and both the table next to me and one of the booths across from me were both occupied, and they both had different servers and I had yet another server. Three different servers for three tables in the same section. Seemed odd, but whatever. Apparently, I drew the short straw on my server, as the other two tables were being very well served. In fact, when the diners at the table next to me left, I was completely out of my half-and-half tea and STILL waiting for my butter & the chance to get a dinner roll. So I told the server cleaning the table I knew she wasn't my server but since mine had apparently disappeared into the ether could she get me another glass of half-and-half tea and a dinner roll and some butter? She was very gracious and said yes. Next thing I know, MY server comes back with the requested items. She was pleasant but never apologized for forgetting my original request for butter or for not checking on me to see if there was anything I needed. She seemed completely oblivious to how bad her service was. In her defense she was very young, and I suspect she is new at this. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt and tipped her 20% despite the fact that she clearly gave sub-par service. Thank you to anyone who bothered to read this entire review. What I am trying to do is give as accurate a picture, both the good and the not-so-good, of my experience at this restaurant, particularly in light of the recent very bad reviews. Would I return here for another meal? Absolutely! My service was not good, but it appeared to me that the service overall in the restaurant IS good. Obviously I'm not a fan of their "cornbread," and the dinner roll I received as a substitute wasn't anything special, just the plain dinner roll you buy in a package at the grocery store, but the rest of the food more than made up for that. And as for those who were complaining about the cleanliness of the restaurant, I have to say that perhaps the restaurant picked up on that from their reviews and are taking steps to make improvements in that area. I hope this review is helpful. If you're on the fence about visiting this restaurant, I would encourage you to try it out. And I HIGHLY recommend their blackened catfish! read more

So I had lunch at Lancaster's today in Ocean Springs and I Washington Avenue, I ordered the farmers burger which was extremely good you could tell all of the ingredients were fresh the chef came out and asked how I wanted to egg on my burger so I thought that was a nice touch everything arrived at the table hot and good to go. Staff was extremely friendly and very informative and knew the menu.
