Small, dark, and divey. We dropped by here on an odd day during the week so the place was nearly empty. Upon walking in, I was like..."omg, this place smells like wet dog, oh wait, there is a guy with a dog!". The music was a little random, but they had great drink specials. Fun new Waikiki bar, not sure on what was here before but seemed kinda like it was a little 2 story strip mall or motel. Upstairs with a nice little balcony to relax and have a drink. Being a "new gay" to the islands I've been reading and analyzing which gay spots would fit my style. I'm pretty low key when I go out, and I'm not a huge clubber (but I do like to go out every now and then). I wanted to chill and people watch at a friendly, clean and adequately spacious place. Bacchus had everything I was looking for! I really enjoyed the ambiance: dark, rustic, unique seating with an open floor, good music (but not blaring as to yell my drink orders to the bartenders), and strong drinks. The outside seating gives a good view of Kuhio St, and the darts room is intimate and great for taking those "I'm having an awesome time at a gay bar" iPhone pics. Keith and Nick are fantastic bartenders and they DON'T water down their drinks. I went on a Monday night so I wasn't expecting the place to be raging. There were a few groups of friends here and there racking up the $3 margaritas and happy hour drinks. Even after the specials the drinks are typical price ($5-$6 cocktails). Nick was super helpful in hipping me to other gay clubs and lesbian hangouts, and what days and times they're popping. After 5 drinks a piece and a buttery nipple shot later, my roommate and I were having the best Monday night! We hugged Nick & Keith goodbye and went home happy as clams. Bacchus seems like it will become my "go-to" spot for a chill gay night out in Waikiki. Can't wait to try it on a weekend night as I'm sure there will be more people and more antics. read more

Coming from Orlando, FL. This bar is quaint and intimate. It's a small "club" and you have an outdoor balcony area. I liked the "mood" and overall ambiance of Bacchus. The drink prices are what you expected and the crowd is friendly. Wish we had more time to experience the other LGBT establishments. read more

What an amazing little place. It's great to meet locals, have drinks, and enjoy the gay life in Waikiki. I definitely was here almost every night. Good music, great bartenders, awesome locals. It's more for lounging and talking; not necessarily for dancing. The dance space is quite small so you can't really fit a lot of people inside. The atmosphere is pretty great. Love this place. Been here a few times from California with my boyfriend who is originally from Aiea. Just want to say that the white bouncer was VERY RUDE to my boyfriend and his friend in the restroom. He was nasty, bad attitude, telling them to leave the restroom for no apparent reason. Was very rude to us a few minutes later taking our drinks almost right from our hands, telling us it's time to leave. Trying to say it's 2 am & time to go but it was not even 2, and he was not being rude to anyone else telling them to leave. Absolutely unnecessary and we felt targeted. I gave 3 stars for fun, and for the other very nice bartenders and such. Rude guy was white, backwards black hat, shoulder/upper arm line/tribal tattoo, tank top. Absolute paradise. Every single bartender I have come across has been pleasant and made the best drinks for pretty decent prices. I was a fan of the overall selection and one bartender even took me out of my comfort zone by recommending some tropical drinks I was yet to try....a win every single time. The patrons were good conversationalists and everyone was down to earth. There were no bad vibes whatsoever and it felt like everyone was tended to and appreciated by the business. Happy Hour?! On a Saturday afternoon?! Oh, the humanity!! Having said that, my husband and I loved it here, so much so that we've vowed to bring guests from the mainland. Hands down, the barman, Hunter makes the best Manhattans around. He admitted to me that he was more of a wine guy, but you'd never guess it by the way he made his Manhattans. It is far enough away from the tourist crowds of Waikiki and there is more of a local vibe to the place, but even though we live here, I don't believe tourists would be unwelcome. I recently moved to Honolulu in Feb. I think I have been to all of the "Gay Bars" on this island. This is by far my favorite. Staff has always been friendly. Drinks are always good. This bar is very small and intimate. Not too many seats inside and there is a small balcony outside where people can smoke. The bartenders are very friendly and very generous with their pours. The music was alright, not the kind of music I wanted to get up and dance for. The drink prices were average. Not crazy expensive like you'd fine at those high end clubs. I really liked this place the first time I went, but the longer it is open the worse it is. The service is horrible that is if you can get served. Thank goodness Nick comes in at night to save the day. If you like Tapas you will like the earlier crowd. If you are looking for masc, then us masc gay types are still in search for a place to hang. It will be interesting to see what type of crowd will be going to Bacchus in a few months, but I suspect the numbers won't be good. read more

I would just like to say that baccus is the place to be. Hunter was awesome and a lot of fun. It got very packed at 10pm and was a great time indeed. I will defenitely come back to baccus again. Even the customers were awesome. A 5 star experience indeed. I also want to and that wednesdays is one of the better nights to come out to bacchus since then have a 2 for 1 deal on certain drinks.
