We really wanted this to be good. Unfortunately the ribs were tough and cold. The Mac and cheese was dried out. The corn bread was bland and the corn on the cob was tasteless. So disappointed. We were eaten alive by the bugs and there was a large dog roaming around scrounging for food. Upgrade the quality of ribs you use as well the quality of all the other food. We discovered this place on our way back home from the Longport dog beach. We were looking for a place where we could sit outside with my dog, and it turned out the restaurant is dog-friendly. We had a seat at a table on the cute patio, and after a little confusion about the menu, I ordered the fried shrimp with corn on the cob and corn bread, and my mom got the shrimp skewer, also with corn & corn bread. We split an order of the cowboy beans. My shrimp was excellent, and she said hers was fresh & cooked well, although she wasn't crazy about the spices they'd put on it. The corn was great; they obviously used fresh local corn, and the cornbread was tasty and apparently homemade, as it stated on the menu. I didn't love whatever spices they used in the beans, but they were still good and had a huge hunk of pork in them. The server also brought us a complimentary sampler of desserts they were trying out (whiskey cake, brownie, and chocolate chip cookie). All three were good, although we both agreed the whiskey cake was the best, really moist and delicious. The prices to me seemed almost ridiciously low, but I'm accustomed to Center City prices. I wish I lived closer to this place - with great food and reasonable prices (and dog-friendly to boot!), I'd come here every week if I could. slid by here yesterday totally by accident while on our way to a seafood restaurant which ended up being totally packed. when we walked in the place was pretty empty. i believe there was just one couple dining at the time. we were quickly greeted by the staff and told to seat ourselves wherever we wanted. we initially decided to sit outside but the tables are located directly under trees which to us was a no-no considering that birds often hang out in trees. also, the outdoor chairs werent comfortable at all, so we decided to dine inside. interior decor is plain at best. super plain. the server, rachael immediately came over and took our orders and the food was served in less than 5 mins. im assuming bcuz they have so much of it prepared already. we had pulled pork, jerk chicken, mac n cheese, and corn on the cob. everything was good. my only gripe with the food was that the pulled pork and jerk chicken was served on a bun which was complete mush on the bottom. it could not be picked up to eat like a sandwich. so if u order these items get them without the bread unless u like mush. with all that we ordered the bill only came to $37 for three people which was extremely reasonable. even gave rachael a $10 tip. i'd recommend this place for a fast cheap and tasty meal. its not a pretty place to dine but so what. it was clean fast and friendly. read more

That being said, the Ribs are magnificently tender fall off the bone. 25 dollars for a rack of Ribs is mightily high with no sides and for take out. The CON regarding taste is that the sauce is super sweet, like candy sweet with a hint of heat. We have debated if we would pick Ribs up again from the above, we think the short answer is, no. The quality is banging, the sauce is distasteful and over bearingly sweet and the price is just way over the top. Just too expensive. To feed a family of 4 you would need to spend easily 120 bucks. Cheap and delicious: back bay BBQ's food is up to nyc BBQ standards. The brisket is comparable to hill country. The pulled pork and sides were excellent. From a pure food quality standpoint it is the best place at the shore. Prices were super reasonable. Very casual: The setting is nice, but presentation and ambiance are basic even by BBQ standards. We stopped by and ordered chicken a pulled pork sandwich, cowboy beans and coke slaw. The chicken was way over cooked, we sent it back and the waitress returned with a new order telling us,"if you don't like this we can replace it with anything off the menu". The chicken, sandwich and the coke slaw were great! The beans were good. The mild sauce was delicious. They only take cash for payment. When we paid the waitress gave us a freshly made brownie for our trouble! It has an outdoor seating area and it was perfect since we had our dog. It was really close to the Longport dig beach too. Had the BBQ sampler. All of their meat is delicious. If I were you I would ask for the BBQ sauce in the side of anything. Te sauce was sweeter than any sauce I've ever had. I looked at the menu everything is all a cart there were three young girls behind the counter dressed scantily that were not welcoming whatsoever. The one girl on the right produced a burnt to hell rack of rubs and had to ask the other if it was set able then trashed it. More kids in the back kitchen area. Excellent pork, brisket and chicken. Their bbq sauce seems to be an apple spice flavor and it is both unique and tasty. Their ribs were very good and fell apart, but not over smoked. Best BBQ in Jersey with a cool authentic back yard atmosphere. Prices are inexpensive, four of us had entrees with a side each and the check came out to $40! Drove by and smelled it before I saw it, past it and turned around. I've been by here before and never noticed it, was hungry and had to eat. I have driven by this place countless times-smelling that wonderful BBQ aroma -but never remembered it when it came time to eat. Until this last weekend. ..... Went a little overboard... BBQ chicken, brisket, smoked wings, seafood kabob, Mac & cheese, cowboy beans, coke slaw, corn bread, potato salad.( it wasn't all for me, lol) The BBQ-just as fabulous as the aroma. Moist, perfectly seasoned. The kabob was small for the price but delicious. The brisket had one of the hardest critics I know try it and he LOVED it. The chicken portions were HUGE! Moist, perfectly barbecued. The wings were the big ones, I prefer the drumettes(?), but these were meaty and again, perfectly seasoned The Mac & cheese needed more flavor and cheese for our liking and the cornbread a little dry. If I were to rate this on smell alone I would give this 5 stars, but don't be fooled by that. The chicken was too dry, the ribs were over cooked had had an unusual flavor. When we visit our friends in Margate we always eat at this restaurant and it has always been a pleasant experience until last Sunday. We waited patiently for our food and noticed that guests ordering after us had their food. As we had to be back in PA by 8:30 we asked a busboy and a waitress to check on our food. When our food was delivered we asked each other if their food was cold. All of our food was cold as if it had sat in the kitchen before being served. With that a man approached our table from inside the restaurant and loudly told us to stop eating and leave the restaurant. We did not have time to find another place to eat so continued eating cold food. Not satisfied the man returned and again loudly said that the food could not be that bad if we were still eating it and slammed down our checks. All this in front of the other diners. Never once did anyone volunteer to reheat our platters. In all my years I have never been treated like that in a restaurant. Never once did we disparage the food only saying it was cold. Ribs were too dry, Mac and cheese was not that cheesy, and beans were ok but not what I expected. Others in our party felt the same way food was dry overall. Initial observations: No adult supervision anywhere in sight. About 10 or more unprofessional 15-17 year old "dumb-as-a-brick" dolly's running around for the service and waiter service. There was one(1) totally disinterested thirty something woman behind the cash register that could seem to care less about anything. Some man was out front, detached from everything doing all the cooking. The wait service is very slow as mentioned to us by the staff. Wobbly table(s) were had, so we decided to take it all to go. It took about 15 minutes to get the food. - Meal #1 - Pulled pork entree (Very good, about a 4) with mac-n-cheese (2-3 needed more cheese) and Coleslaw (Very good). - Meal #2 - Blackened Chicken (Just a 2 - lacked a chicken taste, overly seasoned, hard and slightly dry) with mac-n-cheese (see above) and cowboy beans (which were just Bush's baked beans out of a can). - Would we go back?: No to just maybe for a pulled pork sandwich(s) to go. read more

Visited this place twice. The first visit we stopped by after the Dog Beach. My wife, she had a Pastrami sandwich is was very good. I ordered the Ribs and an order of onion rings which was good. The second visit not so good. We ordered some food to eat there and ordered other food to go for others. We ordered 2 separate scallop orders which we ate there. The scallops where over cooked/very rubbery and both orders in the same container. I would have said something about the scallops but there didn't seem to be any owners around or I would have. Just seem to be younger wait staff. We also ordered a pastrami sandwich to take home (needed more pastrami for that much bread). We ordered a HALF rack of ribs -they where a bit dry but good flavor. Noticed later we where charged for a Full rack but we Did Get a Full rack. But we didn't order a Full rack! We also ordered blacken tuna was very good for take out. The sides, potato salad -just okay, corn bread really good. Coleslaw good. In my opinion, $2.00 for a regular can of soda is a rip off. You'd think that maybe the order taker could have said to us you can get a "Meal Deal" --Get 2 sides and a soda. I only learned it after I was looking at the menu again, after I finished eating. We ended up spending over $80.00 and it wasn't worth the price. I was torn between giving this place 2 stars but I decided to be generous. read more

So TERRIBLE!!!! I do not think its cute or funny to put a tank top on a TEENAGER that says "check out our rack". We have gone here several times. The food is average. However, it is the attitude of the woman who owns the restaurant which makes this place poor. She was extremely mean to her staff, and to customers. She was making rude comments about customers and rushing service. If someone can't at least be a decent human being... I don't know what all the hype is about this place. The chicken on our sandwich was literally paper thin. So tough that it was inedible. The bun was hard and crumbled as we tried to eat it. The lettuce was clearly cut for salad so it was just small pieces falling out of a pathetic excuse for a sandwich. The tomato was overripe and squishy. Huge disappointment. The sampler was way overpriced for such a small amount with no side dishes. It was swimming in grease, the chicken was charred. Not just burned and dry, charred to an oblivion. Wow! After so much local hype I certainly expected better and would never ever go back here. They should apologize to the chicken. It's a crime to call this even "good" BBQ. If this is the best South Jersey has to offer as I was told, I'm a little concerned about what is the worst or even mediocre for that matter. we stopped here for dinner and were extremely happy. My husband had a full rack of ribs and coconut shrimp. I had the pulled pork sandwich on a Kaiser roll and my son had a cheeseburger. we also had a sampling of their macaroni and cheese, cowboy baked beans, coleslaw and corn on the cob. Dessert was pecan pie and whiskey cake both topped with fresh whipped cream. The ribs were falling off the bone. My sandwich was amazing - best sauce ever.... and my sons hamburger was cooked to order and tasted great. All of the sites, especially the baked beans and coleslaw were fantastic. Great hidden gem near Ocean City, NJ! This place is tucked away with out door seating, which creates a nice atmosphere by the bay. The prices are great, the food is delicious, and it's BYO. The owner comes around and talks to you (he might even sing you Happy Birthday!) We love coming here for dinner and recommend it for small or large parties - they accommodate any size party. I love getting the BBQ chicken - dark meat- and you have to get the mac n cheese. The skewers are also a family favorite - chicken, shrimp, or scallops. Go check it out! read more
