Wow! First off, the place is super clean. The only thing I'm knocking off one start is for the flies. I know it's a pain in the A to deal with them. Anyhoo.... I'm here the 2nd week of September. Definitely a locals bar. You could tell by the bartender service..... but I digress. My double captain and coke is the way I make them. It's cool how you order food at the bar. You have to make sure you prop up your menu on the bar so the waitress can see that you are ready to order. We got wings, chili, New England clam chowder and I got the Mac and cheese with crab. First off it's cash only. They do have an ATM. Seating is very crowded at the tables. There is bar seating though you will get separate bills for bar and food. Bartenders seem to be going through the motions and were not happy when asked about tap list. They have a fair amount of choices on tap but no longer craft even though there is a brewery in town. If you do not eat meat there are very limited choices. Salad, some appetizers and a bar version of a veggie sub with peppers, onions mushrooms. Pretty much toppings for which you pay full price. No non meat protein is offered. Service seems to be get in and get out as quickly as possible. read more

Nice local spot in the Somers point area. Although they are known for their wings, I would suggest offering them without flour for the gluten intolerance crowd. Good deep fried delicious bar food, but the prices are somewhat high. In this day and age, not accepting credit cards is supremely sketch and woefully outdated -- give me a break. Great spot to grab some food and drinks! We were visiting family who live in the area and we stopped in for dinner and drinks. We got lucky and were seated right away near the second bar in the back. Our server was very friendly and attentive. They had a good selection of beers, I had a Mango Cart. They also had some fun mixed drinks on the menu that I hope to try next time. My Buffalo chicken wrap was yummy! It came with a bag of chips but you can upgrade to fries. They had a kids menu, which was appreciated since my son was with us. The place was happening! It was packed by 4:00! Luckily, the joint lived up to the hype too. Even though the place was crowded, we were seated and got orders in very quickly. They have quite a few TVs around so it's a great place to hang out and watch a sports game. Charlie's is supposedly known for their wings, so that's what we ordered. I was debating whether to get fries, but I was assured by my friends it wouldn't be necessary. They were right. The wings and tenders I got were so thick and meaty. They were cooked perfectly and I loved the spicy top gun sauce. By the way, that sauce is very spicy for many people. The wings/tenders alone were more than enough to fill me. I was pretty satisfied with the meal and service here. The only downside is that they are cash only. Not a big deal but something to know beforehand. Very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating My French onion soup was outstanding The cheese burger was cooked perfectly and delicious One friend had the stuffed flounder and really enjoyed it. It was full of jumbo crab meat The others all had wings and tenders. They were very happy with the flavor and meatiness of the wings!! This was my first time coming to Charlie's. I came here with my family. The rum bucket was tasty and strong. The seafood platter came with an insane amount of crab and was very good and delicious. The BBT chicken tenders were a decent size. The chicken was real, and the sauce was good. There were a bunch of sauces to choose from. The penne ala vodka pasta came with a lot of pasta, I enjoyed this and now I have some lunch for tomorrow! The pasta was slightly over cooked but it was still fine. The service was average, they charge you for refills for any type of drink like iced tea, which was unexpected. They take cash only so be prepared with cash! The parking lot is very tight, so bring your smallest car. Overall this place has some good options and we would come back here. read more

The first time we ate here everything was almost perfect, today not so much. In the age of great craft beers the beer selection is awful. We were served a barely warm cheeseburger and tepid fries. We actually went back this time because the fries were so good last time. I ordered the house salad with chicken. Barely any romaine most iceberg lettuce and the salad was warm, kind of off putting. I asked for blue cheese on the side twice, it never appeared. Attention to detail is lacking and the kitchen can't accommodate the demand. Cash only, not again for us. read more

Better than chain places and you get quality wings. The vibe of the restaurant is more sports bar and can be a little noisy so if that's not your thing just do pick up quality remains great. Visited this classic spot Somers point NJ. I decided to try the wings, everyone raved about them. We ordered several flavors, but the mild wings to me were perfect. Mild goes with their homemade blue cheese sauce! Folks also raved about their mac & cheese with crab. All in all I didn't really see any unique dishes on their menu. However, it is typically packed because folks come over from Ocean City. We also noticed they have an outdoor area for eating, next time we will check that out. I came during late September and business was booming at Charlie's. They had outdoor and indoor dining. Due to Covid, my group decided it was best to eat outside since it was nice outside. We ordered 2 pitchers of stella without realizing they are $22 a pitcher (our mistake), but I would love for them to have a menu for their drinks. A lot of their drinks are just on a piece of paper with no prices. Outside was really nice and they had projectors in a tent that presented the different sports games. This place is the go to place for wings, beer, and sports watching. I recently went indoors this December and I was quite disappointed that their tables were not social distanced. They were packed with people and it seemed like the pandemic never happened. Very disappointed in that fact. Food: Always bomb! Wings are definitely the go to, they are crispy and delicious. I could keep eating those wings. They are highly addicting. Definitely get a bunch and share it with a group. Onion rings: this was definitely bigger than I was expecting and it was hot and crispy once I got them. Had a great crunch. Overall, food was amazing. Management could do better at reinforcing dining regulations and having a menu with the prices for drinks. read more

Charlie's wings are always great!! Servers are great and if you sit around the main bar the environment is pleasant. I like the Tailgun (mild), Southwest (kind of like a BBQ and honey mustard sauce with a bit of vinegar), and the Stinger (like a sweet and spicy honey soy) sauces. We get our wings dry (no sauce) and well done. We like the sauce on the side so we can control the sauce to wing ratio. I was not too keen on the BBT's (boneless breast tenders) but I guess I will have to give them another try. We mostly get them to go. So, always remember to get a pint of ranch when you get the Rooster Jack (50 wings). I have a collection of wing buckets already, lol!!!! I have been coming to Charlie's for years and it is my favorite place! However, tonight was a huge disappointment in the management area. Saturday night was pretty busy but the wait wasn't the issue. My husband and I don't mind waiting especially for Charlie's, but as we put our name on the waitlist and stood to the side. We watched the older host (curly dark hair and glasses) jump a two top in front of others who have already been waiting. She told the couple to go to the other side of the restaurant and then met them over there with menus. I was shocked! The table that had already been there seemed to be upset about it and asked how much longer. The interesting part was that there were plenty of open tables but I understand there may have been a shortage of servers which concluded a wait. I always love a Charlie's visit but I am very happy that was not my first experience there. Our server Lauren was amazing and super nice! First time visiting, but have partaken in buckets of BBT's previously. Classic sports bar with a good vibe and friendly/quick service. Plenty of televisions to watch a game and all the bar food staples, just done a little better. The BBT's are a staple and delicious. Our table also had the roast beef cheddar melt, chicken sandwich and a short rib sandwich special. All were good to very good.
