Best part of the meal sugar cinnamon apple slices
    Jim L.

Very open feeling and greeted and seated by very friendly people. The best part of the meal were the delicious sugar cinnamon apple slices brought to the table. This was a part of my continuing quest to find the best biscuits and gravy in the state-better than mine. As much as I liked the place, the staff, the fair prices and open cleanliness, they fell short. Basically the biscuits and gravy had no flavor, just bland. I had to take a bite of my wife's link sausage to find they use a very mild sweet maple sausage. Thankfully they have their own homemade hot sauce.

It was great. Good food. Good portions. Friendly staff. We got the donut holes and fried breakfast egg rolls to start. Both were delicious. Donut holes light and fluffy; what a treat. Picky kid actually ate the fried egg rolls so you know they are good. Chocolate Belgium waffle is something else, just the right amount of chocolate. Farmers bowl with tater tots was excellent. Jasmin took care of us; she was fabulous. Incredible pricing and tasty coffee. Well done.

The Sunny Side, I asked for poached eggs
    Carolina P.

Very cute spot with yummy fresh food. We ordered a breakfast burrito and the Sunny Side (eggs come to order and I asked to have them poached) plus two cold brews with a flavor shot each, The burrito was stuffed with fresh diced onions, tomatoes, peppers, eggs and black beans - very filling alongside our requested tater tots. The aioli was delicious and went well with the tots. The sunny side comes with a hollandaise so I figured poached eggs would go best. The eggs were perfectly runny. My two complaints: I could have used a bit more hash browns under the eggs. I asked for a side of toast because there weren't enough potatoes to soak up the yolk with. The hollandaise has good flavor but arrives a bit watery and foamy. It also seems like they serve unsalted whipped butter? I could be wrong but my buttered toast was bland. Overall, I will definitely come again. The coffee was good, there are other dishes I want to try, and our server, Meikhi was so nice and attentive. He's very personable and matched the energy of each of his tables.

We were a group of 5 girlfriend meeting for a late breakfast (arrived around 10 past 11): we were told it would be a 30 min wait... the place was packed with people waiting to be seated so it was no surprise that it took an hour for us to get our table. The booth and ambiance were nothing special, but we were given a plate full of apple slices that were sprinkled in cinnamon sugar (which was a nice touch), our waitress was fun and attentive and the food was very good. The menu offerings for breakfast were pretty basic and standard.. you won't find 6 kinds of pancakes or stuffed French toast here, but it's pretty clear that they have perfected their over-easy and other egg game. Hash browns can be the shredded, cubed or tater tot varieties and delicious. The gluten free bread the have was the best I've had (nice job!). Three of us had mimosas and they were delicious. Based on the number of diners waiting to get seated and the high quality of our meals, I'm willing to guess this restaurant is pretty consistent. I would definitely come to Ellie's again. Well done

Add Ellie's to my list of brunch spots in CT! We had about a half hour wait on a Sunday, so my friend and got some mimosas while we waited. Once we sat down, we both decided to try their spiked coffee flights and split some of their pumpkin spice French toast. The perfect way to brunch during fall, honestly. Their blt Bene sounded amazing so I went with that. While I really liked it, I do agree with some of the other yelpers that the hollandaise sauce is a little thinner than you typically see. The tots are amazing too and I could eat those daily. Definitely cannot wait back to see their winter specials!

A fantastic breakfast spot and it's packed to prove it! The food was delicious and service was fantastic! Everything is truly homemade from the hash to Bennie sauce. There was more bacon than expected on the Bennie and I'm not complaining! The tater tots were nice and crispy with a soft center.

Food was amazing. The ambience is nice clean modern, farmhouse chic and the service was impeccable. We had to wait 15 minutes because the word is already out that this place is awesome so come on down and check it out, you won't be disappointed. Yeah, they are that good. And if there's a wait no worries, they have free coffee and fruit water to help you pass the time and the bar is always open. This place is only open for breakfast and lunch only 8-2 Mon- Friday 7-3 Sat -Sun Enjoy!!!

Breakfast & lunch spot inside of the old Que Whisky Kitchen I came here for breakfast on a weekend and we were told that it was going to be a 20 minute wait, but they had complimentary coffee & water (that had tons of fruits in it that made it more tasty than just plain water) The space is divided into 2 different seating areas - 1 in the main dining room and 1 by the bar. Although the bar seating area has bar seats there are also some tables there as well, and I believe that the "que" (see what I did there) for that section of tables is independent of the one for the main dining area. Anyways, when I was told that it would be 20 min to get a table I decided to take a seat at the bar and order a latte. They have a solid selection of latte flavors, and I decided to try something unique. I don't remember what flavor I got, but I do remember that I liked it a lot. As soon as I ordered my latte I was told that my table was ready, which was a pleasant surprise given that I had just put my name in 5 minutes earlier. After getting seated I got a chance to look at the menu, and I was impressed by the selection of both classic & unique breakfast options. I opted to go for 2 of their apps instead of a main dish - the breakfast egg rolls & the banana bread (I think, I can remember it was some kind of breakfast bread). By this time I had already polished off my fun-flavored latte, so I decided to order a plain latte as well. Fortunately it was just as delicious! After ordering I noticed that other tables received complimentary cinnamon covered apple slices, however they forgot to bring them to our table :_( This being said, when I got my food I was happy again as it was all very tasty.

Summary: Ellie's offers an upscale taste but a casual breakfast dining experience for the whole family with menu items sure to please. With ample seating and private parking, wait times on weekend mornings are very minimal for this tasty spot. Bring an appetite! This was my first chance to taste what Ellie's had to offer. Ellie's is conveniently located right off exit 32 on i84 for Queen Street (for those not native to Southington) so it's an easy trip and an even easier find as it's visible from the main road. When I walked in the place was PACKED but the wait was only 10-15 minutes. To ease the short wait, they offer complimentary cappuccino and fruit water that you can help yourself to. For those native or who live by Ellie's, this breakfast/lunch spot took over the previous Que Whiskey Kitchen building. Although the outside looks similar, Ellie's ownership have taken some opportunities to refresh the inside to fit that farm to plate farmhouse breakfast spot vibe with that rustic but modern look. To start the meal we had the Breakfast Egg Rolls. Egg rolls for breakfast? Genius. They were filled with scramble eggs, your choice of meat (we chose sausage) and cheese. The egg rolls shell itself was light and crispy. Delicious. We chose to pair it with Chipotle airli over the Sriracha alternative. The dip really makes the app. The plate is decorated with some greens. You get 2 egg rolls diagonally cut into 4 large pieces. For my main meal I had their Hangover Burger. This towering masterpiece of flavor comes with a mixed beef burger, fried egg (they ask you how you'd like your egg), bacon, melted cheese, crispy fried onion, crinkle cut pickles and a glorious layer of hash browns with Ellie's own hot sauce. The combination of textures and flavors inside the burger really deliver. Best of all, the burger wasn't overly greasy and messy to eat. Staff was super friendly and our server, Kendra was very attentive and thorough while running through questions about menu. This was my first time at Ellie's but it will not be my last.

I walked in and from first glance, you can tell it is a staple type establishment for those within the community of Plainville. A spot that folks love to hit up in the mornings and for lunch to get their day started and to keep it going. I always can appreciate a good home-style vibe. Jim's had a few patrons inside, all having conversations with the ladies behind the counter that were making food and then the gentleman at the register as well. I will say that when I walked up to the counter, one lady looked at me as if I had a third eye, scoffed and walked away but I didn't think much of it for she may have been having a bad morning....moments later the other Woman said, "What do you want?" in a questionable tone but again, I digress for they both looked flustered. I placed an order and simply walked to the register and proceeded to grab a few more items for my review. I started off with the Pastrami Reuben on hardroll. The roll was toasted for that crispy factor and the pastrami itself, was good. You really can't go wrong when the cut on the pastrami is just right and it has a nice cut about it. The sauerkraut was ok, nothing major to write home about to be honest and it had a nice savory sauce with some Swiss cheese that. complemented the sandwich. Moving along to their macaroni salad! The mayo was tangy, and the red onions drew in the flavor profile rather nicely. It was seasoned with pepper as well and with the macaroni cooked to near perfection, you couldn't go wrong here. Now their Bacon, Egg and cheese on a hard roll left much to be desired. More BREAD than egg and bacon....You could barely see it from the side, let alone taste anything. I was sadly disappointed in their excuse for a breakfast sandwich. It lacked style, ingredients and flavor. This brings us over to their Apple Crisp! Fresh apples, cinnamon and granola goodness that made up for the horrible breakfast sandwich. Each bite of the crisp sent harps my way to play me a melody of tasty treats. Not too bad but between their. questionable customer service and my breakfast sandwich, I can only give Jim's an overall score of 3.5.

Long-time fan, but disappointed with the new Italian combo portions…read more I've been coming here for years and have always loved the Italian combo grinder -- the bread is still fantastic (crusty outside, soft inside, just right), the long hot peppers pack that perfect kick, and the overall flavor profile is still spot-on. The shop looks great after the recent updates under new ownership -- cleaner, brighter, more inviting space. That said, I was really let down on my first visit since the change. The grinder I got for lunch had noticeably less meat than before. What used to be a hearty, well-stacked sandwich with generous layers of cold cuts now felt skimpy on the protein -- probably about half (or less) the amount I was used to. The other components (cheese, veggies, hot sauce) were fine, but the lack of meat made it feel more like a veggie-heavy sub than the satisfying Italian combo I always counted on. Everything else was good -- friendly service, quick prep, fresh ingredients -- so I'm hoping this was just an off day or an adjustment period with the new team. I'd love to see the portions return to their old generous standard, because the foundation here is still strong. 2.5/5 stars from me right now. Still my go-to deli in the area, but I'll be watching to see if the meat comes back in full force. Keep up the great bread and peppers!

The vibe is a bit noisy at times as people walk through the dining area on their way to other venues in this old converted factory space.
