    Cheese slice with green chiles

We were in town and this popped up as a good pizza place to try while in Santa Fe. It's set up as an order at the counter, bring it to your table style place. The service was pretty fast and very friendly. The inside had some tables and booths, and they had cute outside seating that looked like it would be a really nice spot to hang out when the weather is nice. While the larger pizza creations sounded really good, we decided to each go with a cheese slice and you can add toppings to it. It was great! The crust was thin but still had a good bite, and the slice was large enough to be finished after just 1. I added pepperoni, mushroom, onion, olives, and garlic to mine and it came out amazing. If ever back in the area, we will definitely be trying their signature creations!

I'm a hopeless pizza addict, and an ardant fan of excellent pies.  Doing my research before coming to the 505, I read that Back Road Pizza was voted Santa Fe's #1 Pizza restaurant for 9 years running (2012-2020), so I resolved to check this place out sooner, rather than later. My friend and I came for dinner one weekday evening and started off with a couple of small Caesar salads.  These were crisp, fresh, and delicious, with dressing that was obviously homemade - a good start :-) Then it was time for the main event - pizzas! Reviewing the menu, I saw that they offer a wide assortment of toppings for those who want to build their own pie or add extras to one of their pre-configured pizzas.  I've found that when trying a new pizza restaurant, the best experiences are usually had by ordering a pre-configured pie; I consulted with my Partner in Crime, and we decided to share two pizzas: - Norm (pepperoni, house made sausage, mushrooms, and black olives) - New Mexican (pepperoni, green chile, and red onions) We also ordered a pitcher of beer to share, and waiting for our pies to arrive.  When they came, they looked wonderful, and smelled even better - we dug in and found that there were excellent!  The tomato sauce is zesty and nicely balanced, with just the right kick to it; the toppings are obviously fresh, top-quality, and generous applied.  That said, the star of this particular show is unquestionably the dough. Here's a quote from their web site to explain why the dough is so good: "We make a thin crust pizza with a Santa Fe twist: a perfect flour crust rolled in cornmeal for a unique flavor and texture". The pizzas were so good that we actually considered ordering more after we made them disappear.  Instead we decided to make a point of returning to this wonderful new find very soon :-)

I am shocked they are the "best" for several years in a row... That tells me there's absolutely no good pizza in Santa Fe. The pizza was not fully cooked and since we just picked up a takeout order, there was no "sending it back". Beet salad was very good - fresh greens a positive. We also brought home a pint of ice cream (mint chip) which was yummy! But since pizza is the headliner for this place, I've got to give an average "3" review.

A Large 1/2 & 1/2 Specialty Pizza...Veggie on on side, Norm on the other.

So much hoopla...so true! Grabbing a quick bite in Santa Fe for carrying out was a tough call, but friends and family all said Back Road Pizza was one to try. They were right on in saying it was one of the better pizza joints in town. We ordered a 1/2 & 1/2 Special which was half Veggie and the other half a carnivore's wet dream, Norms! The slightly charred, pizza crust was thin, crisp, and dusted with cornmeal---foldable like New York thin style. Toppings on the meaty side included good quality sausage, pepperoni, etc. The cheese and sauce, with perfect herbs and spices, accompanied the toppings on both halves, perfectly. We also ordered a salad with both Dill Vinaigrette and a Balsamic Vinaigrette on the side, too. Everything tasted excellent and the staff was fully masked up at the pick up window. A slight glitch on the salad was quickly remedied---nothing too big. So if you want a good, high quality pizza pie in Santa Fe, give your money to Back Road Pizza---they'll give you a culinary delight in exchange!

That's snow on the bushes outside. I'm from Florida -that's impressive in March.

This was the perfect pizza for us. We ordered a small goat and beet salad and a Gerald. The crust was thin just the way I love my pizza. The toppings were generous and delicious. The people working there were very friendly and it soon filled up. There's an upstairs where you can play pool. I really enjoyed the good and atmosphere.

Interior. Pool tables upstairs. Outdoor dining as well.

Pizza was average, except for the price tag. $30 bucks for a large Hawaiian pizza and tip! The staff were nice, at least.

Located in the Plaza off of San Francisco St., we didn't realize there was it's own parking lot that is shared with others around the corner (we parked at a public structure for 5 bucks 2 blocks away). This is an order at the counter establishment of which I do not care for, especially if it's pricey (which it was). We started off with the house salad for 7.50/ea and totally not worth it (just some lettuce tomatoes and dressing with a piece of bread). 2 of us had pizzas 1 a calzone and another pasta. Pizzas were ok, but a good size for one big appetite or to share otherwise. The calzone was HUGE but my friend did not care for it (vegetarian) as she said it had too much goat cheese and lacked flavor. My friend's pasta was just average. With a bottle of cab and 2 soft drinks, the price came to a pricey 120 bucks before tip (the servers do deliver your food and drinks to the table). Would I come back here? Probably not. I have had others word of mouth that also did not care for it.

The restaurant is roomy and lively. It's right across the street from the Hilton, where we stayed! My colleague ordered pizza to go on the first night, walked over and returned back to hotel room! I should have done that too! Our party of 6 came from Hawaii and just trusted the process...we ordered several wood oven pizzas (sorry I didn't pay attention to what my friends ordered ) I had the Tartufo - omggg it was to die for!!! the food is amazing and affordable! We would come back again and again if we could!! The employees were friendly and helpful! We were leaving the next morning so some of us took the leftovers and ate it at our stopover!! We will definitely come back if we have another conference there!!

Made our first and last visit to Oshia's tonight…read more... My nephew was in town visiting so we decided to order pizza. (I voted for Il Vicinino, but my husband had heard Oshia's was good.) We ordered a Margherita pizza, wings & a Greek Garden Salad. When I arrived to pick up the order the pizza was done and sitting on the counter in a box. I waited about five minutes for the wings to come out of the oven, and then a few more for the salad to be assembled. Got home (maybe 3 minutes away) & realized the pizza was cold so I put it in the oven for 20 minutes. When I put the pizza on the table my husband & nephew pointed out that there was no basil on it & just a skimpy smattering of mozzarella. (The menu says it has basil.) So. I called Oshia's & told them the pizza was cold & missing the basil. While the guy on the phone was nice enough I think maybe he was a little too stoned to say anything but, "Uhhhh. Sorry." (I'm all about weed, but really?) I kind of expected him to offer another pizza made correctly. Silly me. So we sprinkled dried basil on it & laughed about what a lame place Oshia's is. The wings? Average. The salad? Good. The place was better when Pete owned it. We won't be back. Next time we order pizza? Il Vicino. We learned our lesson.
