Cute little place. The food is decent, nothing special. But the restaurant is very clean, friendly staff, and a good atmosphere.

It would take too long and bore everyone to death for me to go into detail about why this place is horrible, so I'll just cut to the quick. This place sucks. It is the opposite of what I heard from someone ("great bar & crab cakes!") and from they're self-aggrandizing website. The bartender was an inattentive, useless server, and the food tasted burnt & "chemically". After I pushed my barely-eaten plate of food away, said bartender (nice sunglasses on top of your head at 8pm btw) finally showed up to ask how it was. I politely informed him that it was empirically gross and I was disappointed because someone told me they had great crab cakes. His response? "I've worked here a long time and I've never heard that." He then proceeded to take 50% off JUST the food (that I barely touched). THANKS, DUDE-BRO!!! You just stole $25 from me. HARD PASS & DEFINITELY telling people to avoid this place when it comes up. This place is a hidden gem in Salisbury! I was recommended by a local and I am so glad that she showed me! The pricing is good for such a small local place. I've never heard anything bad about the food, nor have I ever received any bad food from the restaurant. crab dip was ok but not blowing my mind good. Mediocre at best . Really disappointing. Three of us shared the crab dip and we all came to the same conclusion. The food is really blah. At least I got a $1.00 off during happy hour price. I read a review on March 21, 2019, on my trusted YELP of a COCKROACH running across a plate. WOW I did not read this review until after eating there. Thankfully our party of twelve did not see any of their roach tenants. We stopped eating here in 2014 we were once regulars for their hamburger night which included a hamburger, pickle spear, and POTATO CHIPS! We had tired of filling out a paper slip with a golf pencil to eat a mediocre hamburger with CHIPS. Once Evolution opened we became regulars for "farm to table" style burgers in Salisbury with French FRIES. YEAH! There is really nothing memorable that would keep us coming back to Backstreet. The quesadilla was gringo style and lacked any flavor or authenticity. The jerk chicken Caesar wrap was okay. Nothing to write home about. There was nothing mouth watering about this meal. Absolutely amazing and very unique restaurant. Their prices are very reasonable and the food is fantastic. Great cocktail menu too. I was incredibly impressed. The service was also very friendly. We went at 6:30pm on a Friday night and we received our order very quickly. The only problem was that the parking lot is very small with limited spots. Whatever you do, get the cream of crab soup!! Previous visits were always good but not today. Soup that was, at best, lukewarm; closer to room temperature. Ordered a daily special, shrimp and grits with andouille sausage, which was anything but special. Mostly grits with about 5 tiny shrimp, like popcorn shrimp size, and one small piece of sausage. They were not busy as I went mid afternoon. Lots of open seats but I was put at a small table by the bathrooms and door. Employees kept coming back and forth to the table across from me as they were using it to wrap silverware, eat, talk and some complaining about their job or coworkers. The server was attentive. I did tell her they should check the heat under the soup but didn't want to send it back because you never know what you will get afterward. Service was very slow at 2 pm...they seemed to have enough help. My cold plate was fantastic as was the bourbon old fashion!! My son was not impressed with French dip..just meat and bread..no cheese or. Onions or any spices. Loved the atmosphere though..will try again cause they have an awesome menu. read more

My recent trip to Backstreet grill, I ordered an appetizer of Loaded Fries and what they served was enough food to feed a family of 6. My main course was the Oyster Po Boy. It was the worst dish I have ever had served to me in a restaurant. To put that into perspective I have never even thought about leaving a Yelp review but here I am going out of my way to make one. As I chewed my food it felt like chewing on fiberglass and sand. It was an absolute embarrassment to my guest who recommended the place. I really hope who ever was in charge of cooking my Po Boy asked themselves if this is the right profession for them. read more

Mediocre experiences every time we go. The food is decent for the price, nothing is crazy overprice. The biggest advice I can give is to not go when they are busy (which they get VERY busy on weekends).. they do not do well under pressure. Surely we got everything we ordered but we had to order so fast I didn't have time to tell her we wanted an appetizer last time "/ Crabcakes are just OK, not too much flavor, French dip gets pretty soggy if you don't get it off the bread fast enough, and the burgers are hit or miss. Took my in-laws here and wow the food was amazing for everyone, even my picky little sister-in-law loved the food here. I got the Turkey Rachel, hot chocolate, crab soup, and the bread pudding. All was so good! My husband got the oyster poboy and he really enjoyed it. Place was clean, staff was super helpful and very nice. Parking...well, I was lucky to get a spot. Unless there is additional parking out back, they are lacking on it. Price was fantastic too, can't complain at all. Overall would recommend. $26 lunch for two including sodas and tip. I was back in Salisbury for a day and asked my son where he'd like to go for lunch and he suggested the Back Street Grill. We've been there before with decent results so we gave it another go. The Back Street Grill is an attractive, well maintained sandwich shop on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It has a variety of seating including high backed benches, tables and the bar. It is very much a middle-of-the road establishment. I ordered the hamburger (medium) and my son ordered the "The Boss" - a sliced roast beef sandwich. We both had sodas and split a $3,50 order of beach french fries. The good: The Fries were PERFECT. Freshly sliced potatoes fried in oil and served hot. Worth the trip just for the fries. Malt vinegar and ketchup were offered alongside the fries. His roast beef sandwich was reported as being "tasty". He liked the potent horseradish sauce which accompanied the sandwich. The not so good: Asked for pickle on my burger and the waitress said the pickle was served on the side. Asked if it could be sliced in the kitchen and put on the burger, and her response was, "that's not how we do it". Okay. The burger was well-done, dry and absent flavor. This was my 3rd visit to the Back Street Grill and I find the place to be acceptable sandwich place just needing a little more effort to become a great sandwich place. Will I return? Yes. Their menu consists of a tablet of paper at your table where you either build your own hot or cold sandwich (front side) or select one of the signature items (back side). They also have specials listed on boards throughout the place. I built my own cold sandwich (essentially, ham and cheese on wheat bread...which wasn't very wheaty at all) and toyed with the idea of getting a side salad. Well, I was glad I didn't because the sandwich was huuuuge, stacked meat, cheese, meat, cheese, meat, cheese. Too large to even bite into. I guess this is a good thing? I am not a fan of so much meat at one time so I deconstructed mine into something I could handle. Condiments were provided in little cups on the side. It came with chips and a pickle. I had plenty of leftovers. My husband selected the chicken cheesesteak which was decent but came with white onions, not grilled, which I found a bit odd. My mom had the cream of crab soup which didn't wow her at all. The highlight of the meal was definitely the order of fries we got for the table. They were beach style, tasty, and served pipping hot. The service left a lot to be desired. You essentially fill out a ticket for them, so there is not much left but to bring you your drinks and food and check on you once or twice. Well, needless to say, we had to get out of our seats to find our waitress hanging out at the bar, to request a drink refill. The only other time she came back was to provide the check. I needed a box, and she insisted on using her hands to place my remaining sandwich into, yuck. She threw all my chips away before even asking if I wanted to take those too. Although I ordered the BLT salad, I snagged a few fries from a friend. The fries were amazing- hot, salty, crispy on the ends...just wonderful. The salad was very filling and even had egg and all types of croutons. I wasn't crazy about the rye croutons, but the rest were good. The bowl and salad were cold- lettuce was crisp and fresh. Great place for lunch with the classic build-your-own menu with lots of other specialties ... soups, salads, and several other sandwichs. It's a cozy atmosphere and certainly a local hostpot. You are sure to run into someone you know there. I think the common misconception is that this is a typical gastropub with the related type of service. It's not. It's a simple set up - walk in, find a table, sit, and check off on the menu what you'd like to eat. They have a full bar with great draft specials. I've noticed it's become more of a college hangout - mostly because of the great food and awesome prices. However, it's a tame crowd and still great for families. My parents and I love coming here. One of the best parts ... authentic beach fries served with vinegar on the side just like Thrasher's only without the lines, the seagulls, and the craziness of the Ocean City boardwalk (and you can eat them with ketchup if you'd like) !! read more

Food with friends was good so was the service too. We had a corner booth since there were 5 of us. We had ordered gotten our drinks and the air conditioning comes blowing on my head. The rest of my party was cool too. The waitress offered to move us and was going to turn back the air. Turning back the air never happened. Trying to eat and uncomfortable is not the best. Was looking for some place a little off the beaten path in Salisbury and lo and behold I found an excellent dining establishment. Staff are exceptional, friendly, and helpful. The menu is filled with a variety of items. Observing other guests and what they were eating, I could see that everything was well portioned and looked delicious. My own choice was the Reuben and it was excellent. Also had the loaded fries (highly recommend these) and my wife had the French dip which she says is very very good. The price to serving size ratio is very good and we will be back to try more of the menu in the future. read more

I love the food here. They use a build-your-own menu of various meats, cheeses, breads, toppings, etc. and also offer a large variety of their own types of salads and sandwiches. I've eaten there several times and had a variety of salads and sandwiches, which were all delicious. The portions are very generous and the staff is friendly and efficient. I don't live in the area, so I've only been here twice. Both times were after the lunch rush. The first time I got the shrimp salad on croissant. It was so delicious that I knew I had to bring my sister here - she would love it too... and she did! She came with me for my 2nd visit. The shrimp is so big in the salad! The only problem I had was the first visit my husband ordered fries and was given the big basket, so I thought that's the only way it came. Come to find out (on my 2nd visit) that they actually come in a smaller portion. The jambalaya was good (had to take my husband a bowl).
