Amazing! Came here with a group of friends! We explore local Black restaurants! And this one is top five... well as of now it's number one! Complimentary wine! The owner was so hospitable! Food was amazing! Usually when I eat creole food, I have complaints! None here! Crab rice was so well flavored! Combo (seafood boil) was delish! I had leftovers and my kids ate them up without approval now I'm feening for more... so I'll be back real soon! The combo had a really tasty cream based sauce! Service was excellent! Was in town for a girls weekend and this place came highly recommended. It definitely did not disappoint. Atmosphere was very homey. Laid back, great music, very chill. I personally am not a seafood person but the owner made sure I was able to get something just as tasty as my group. My friends ordered the Combeaux and were VERY PLEASED with their plates. Great portions, sauce was a bit spicy but amazing flavors. I ordered grits with sausage and chicken and wow. I shared my plate below as well as one of my friends. But then you step in and wow - amazing. It's so gorgeous inside! Neat, modern, classy. They were playing jazz instrumental versions of songs I love over the speakers which I really enjoyed too. Then the food was great. Juicy, seasoned well, buttery. 10/10. I want to go back and try more of the menu! They really cooked it up. On top of it all, it's a family owned business. Staff is so welcoming because clearly they care about the place! The waiter was the nephew I believe and he was so nice, also the aunt who owns it was there and she was so nice, then he pointed out the grandma visiting as well! Wholesome. Best meal in Houston. On my way to the airport o googled best seafood boil and ended up at this small local spot. Went for the combo- crab, shrimp, corn, potato, sausage. And wine of course. It was definitely a meal for two, but I went for it. The sauce was completely unique and the star of the show. A garlic butter spicy gravy (I wish I had better words to describe) completely different than the old bay or Thai medley spices. Shrimp were huge, everything perfectly cooked. I was excited to try this place when I came across it, walked in and the menu had several things I wanted to try. Unfortunately, the service was a let down. I am pretty forgiving in most circumstances. My husband and I waited patiently for an hour for our food. We could have gotten over the long wait. What ruined our first experience here was seeing the dish that we ordered (seafood pasta) delivered first to 3 different people who we saw come in and ordered after we did. The gentleman taking orders apologized for the long wait (not for any mixups with the order) after I asked him to please put the seafood pasta that we'd been waiting on in a to-go container. Our food was decent. There were several other folks in the restaurant that appeared to know the gentleman taking orders. They seemed to be enjoying themselves and their food/drinks... kudos to them. Hopefully in the future the restaurant staff will focus on providing a great experience to everyone that comes to support them, not only their preferred crowd. read more

WOW, what a meal. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly with a smile. We ordered the shrimp and grits, side of corn, potato and sausage with a Mexican coke. The presentation of the shrimp and grits was beautiful. Shrimp seasoned and cooked perfectly. The grits had amazing, deep flavor and plenty to go around. The potato was cooked so it was easy to cut, but not mushy...just right. It came with a flavorful sauce. The sausage had a rich, smokey flavor. A meal that we ended up splitting and it was plenty. The service was very good as they checked in on us several times. Just great people. I will say, this was a little hard to find due to a lack of signs outside. The inside was fine and I'm sure as more time passes, they'll be able to update it. I would say this is one place where you don't want to judge by what you see rather what you taste. So if you do come to check it out, don't plan on doors being opened until about 30 minutes later after and don't plan on eating until an hour after you order.
