Let me be clear. J&J Lounge is NOT a lounge. It's a white table cloth sit down restaurant that serves delicious soul food. You order your food at the counter and then your meal is delivered to your table. There is no bar and I'm not even sure they sell any alcohol. I have been twice now for lunch. It's not much to look at from the outside but when you walk in everything is neat and pleasant. Parking consists of about 4 spaces in front and then anywhere on the street. My first visit was to try their hamburger basket for $13. The meal arrived less than 15 minutes later. The half pound beef patty was cooked to order and sat dressed with lettuce, tomato, etc. on a nice sized bun, This burger was delicious and filling and I thought it was excellent. My only slight complaint was the bottom bun gave up before the end of the meal. The beef patty created too much steam for the bread. The accompanying French fries were hot and properly salted. I thought they were very good tasting too. I will order this meal again. The second visit was for the grilled pork chop dinner for $18. This meal came with a side salad first. It had fresh greens and sliced tomatoes with 2 cheeses on top. It was very good and a quality side salad. Then the entree arrived. On a big plate were two blackened pork chops covered with carmelized onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and sausage sitting on a bed of rice and brown gravy. You could tell that this meal was prepared in a well seasoned cast iron black skillet. Oh it was really good and enough for two to share. I really liked this meal. I believe that a lot of neighborhood folks come to get their food to go but I live too far away so I always dine in. This is a very good place to eat! read more

Browsing bookmarks this 1 appealed the most so we stopped by. Walking in here, everyone was friendly and smiling. I love the vibe already! The music was pumping old school and new school tunes. I was definitely grooving along with the other patrons. I was happily amused and entertained watching everyone eat and sing and dance. We ordered the fried catfish meal which came with salad, fries, and garlic bread. Then ordered the grilled pork chop and shrimp/and outlet sausage dinner plate which includes salad and white rice. They give you alot of food! It was all prepared freshly and hot. It was delicious and seasoned very well. The man who served us was probably the owner and was very nice and accommodating. I believe this may be the BEST BURGER IN HOUSTON. Delicious, FRESH beef, excellent seasoning, great price for quantity of food, short wait time, and I can go on and on. Hubby and I got recommended this spot a couple of weeks ago and finally made some time to go. I had the regular cheeseburger, he had a double cheeseburger and both came with side of fries and a drink. Our total was $30 even and get this - they serve free margaritas on Tuesdays and Thursdays so my husband enjoyed one of those as well. From start to finish that burger had us looking at each other crazy. We spent the rest of the day in total disbelief about how amazing these damn burgers were. Food aside, the feel/atmosphere of the place was great; clearly a family business that has been running for years as evidenced by the old photos all around the shop. my first time trying this place was like 10+ years ago & my dad put me on. i came back a couple weeks ago (as an adult) & no shade...but it's not too many restaurants that can keep up quality consistency in their food like that. Service is a 10, but remember it is a small family owned establishment so some cashiers working as a 1 man team, won't be able to multitask & wait tables + be cashier. So give grace. The J&J Lounge is a neighborhood gem in 5th Ward which has existed for four decades. I've been curious about this spot for a long time, and finally visited recently. My order included fried catfish, garden salad, fries and toast. Everything tasted great. The food was brought to the table rather quickly. Hats off to chef and Ms. Tori, who is kind, friendly and encouraged us to come back. This is definitely the kind of place which probably had a jukebox back in the day, and the big screen TV makes this a good spot to visit on game days. The vibe that I needed after a long week. The customer care is unmatched and it smells like Big Mama is in the kitchen. Feels like a spot that would be situated on the Northside of St. Louis! 5 star alert! Support local businesses. First off the owner is there working the counter and is very friendly and makes you feel at home. Also the gentleman with the braids in glasses I guess he was one of the waiters was extremely helpful and very nice as well. I'm very glad we stopped in today because the food and service was absolutely amazing. Food : this Has to be the best pork chop I've ever had in my life. Before coming here my favorite pork chop used to be the one you get it Perry's on Fridays. This pork chop is much better, much more tender as well. This pork chop full flavor, like I said it's the best pork chop I've ever had in my life. I was very happy with it. He also tops it with like three or four nice sized grilled shrimp and some and andouille sausage as well. The gravy and rice have a crawfish in there as well. You can tell they went out of their way to make sure this meal was amazing. Everything was really good. Even the salad they brought out was really good. I will definitely come back and try more things off their menu. The burgers look amazing, the wings look amazing, this looks like a really good place to eat. Overall. You cannot go wrong. I felt like I walked into a time capsule. I felt like I walked into the either the 1970s or the 1980s. It's a really nostalgic feel when you go in there. I have to give them mad props for keeping that look because it's a very distinct look. It feels like you're just stepping into a time capsule. We are supporting our black owned businesses and after scrolling through my list ; I came across this little jewel! They have a set up where you can pay online using the Clover system. Pick was supposed to be 20 minutes, but I always give more time than needed because our food wasn't ready. Okkkk so I passed by this place before wanting to try it but couldn't find a place to park so beware parking is sparse. With that being said the food was bomb! I didnt take a picture of the salad that came with my meal but even though they use iceberg lettuce it was still a tasty little dinner salad. No over seasoned fake patty to where you are trying to figure out if you are coming back or not. This burger will make you come back and be pissed off you can't get it unless you come to this place. Yesterday was the first time me and my husband came here. We ordered two 6 piece shrimp dinners which took 40minutes (was understanding because it was a little busy) but to receive 2 meals that you didn't even order was BS.. when we opened our bag in the car it was 2 catfish dinners , so my husband went back up to the door and the young girl said " Due to COVID-19 there's no refunds, but we can sell you a shrimp dinner for $10! My husband said he was just standing there in disbelief and told her well I don't know what to say, because that's what I ordered.. so he was like well Thank you and started walking off, instead of apologizing about the situation she starts to tell him "well that is what you ordered when I gave you those 2 daiquiris for free." My husband just kept walking because she didn't even know what she was talking about. We didn't get any daiquiris!!! So we ate the food the catfish was good but you all didn't put any tartar sauce in the bag only ketchup and ranch dressing..
